Chapter 15
"What on earth are you talking about?" I asked him, my curiosity piqued.
He simply smiled at me, as if understanding my confusion. A wave of relief washed over me, as I had feared his words were some sort of ritual to claim me as his mate. I chuckled to myself, though I made sure not to let it show.
"I apologize if my words were unclear," he said with a smile.
"But I want you to know that they were true," he added.
Returning his smile, I watched as a Guard approached and called him away. He bid me farewell, and I nodded in response. However, my curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to follow him to uncover the truth. Slowly, I made my way out of the Castle, and there I witnessed Alpha engaged in conversation with a breathtakingly beautiful woman. She seemed like an angel who had descended from the heavens. It was the first time I had laid eyes on her, and I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as I wondered who she was.
I discreetly hid behind a wall, eavesdropping on their conversation from a distance. I closed my eyes, trying to focus on their words. Yet, Alpha Henrick's power was too great for me to decipher what he was saying. There was an energy that prevented me from hearing clearly during those moments.
I watched as they entered the Castle and walked down the corridor towards Elijah's room. Who was that woman? What was her purpose here?
Restlessly, I waited for them to emerge. I needed to find a way to enter that room. The idea of using Martha as an excuse crossed my mind, pretending to be concerned for her well-being. I was certain she was inside, so I thought of bringing food as a means to gain entry. Taking a deep breath, I stood before the door and knocked. After a few seconds, the door swung open, revealing the handsome face of Alpha Henrick.
"I've brought food for Martha," I stated.
"Martha is not here. She's in the kitchen, preparing food for Elijah," Alpha Henrick replied.
I felt a twinge of embarrassment, though I didn't let it show. I insisted on entering and placed the food on the side table. I noticed the beautiful woman casting a glance in my direction. Unable to resist, I observed her from head to toe. Her beauty was undeniable.
"Hey there, Clara! I want you to meet Aries' cousin, Aryana," Alpha Henrick introduced her with a beaming smile.
"Aryana, this is Clara, my soon-to-be Luna," he introduced me with a smile.
"Nice to meet you, Clara. I can see why Alpha Henrick chose you," she said, her smile warm and genuine.
"Hmm, I just noticed you here," I replied, trying to sound serious.
"I'm an Omega. I prefer to live in solitude, in a peaceful place. But when I heard about Elijah's condition, I couldn't stay away," she explained gently.
I recently discovered that Aries is her cousin, but for some reason, her soft voice annoyed me. I didn't let it show, though, as I didn't want to appear unfavorable in Alpha Henrick eyes.
"Why did you choose to distance yourself from your cousin? Don't you think this place is peaceful?" I asked, my tone firm.
"It's not like that, Clara," replied softly.
"Omegas are like that. Only a few of them choose to stay with their pack. They value their independence and believe they can protect themselves, despite being in a lower class," Alpha Henrick, explaining.
"Does that mean you don't have to protect her?" I questioned.
"Yes, but if she ever needs help, I'll always be there for her," he replied, his smile unwavering.
Hearing his words, my heart warmed. I tried to suppress the feeling, knowing I shouldn't entertain it. Martha entered the room with a tray of food and was visibly surprised to see me there with Aryana and Alpha Henrick.
"You're here too, Clara,"she said smiling.
I observed how Martha took care of Elijah, as he struggled to move. But when Elijah, glanced at me, I quickly averted my gaze and focused on Aryana instead. I couldn't help but notice the way she looked at Alpha Henrick disgusted me.
After a while, Aryana bid her farewell, and Alpha Henrick offeredto accompany her. However, she declined, so he simply walked her to the gate.
As the days went by, Aries gradually recovered, and Alpha Henrick busied himself with training his pack members, ensuring they were always prepared for any potential threats from enemies.
The wolves must be fully trained and alert, ready to face any challenge that comes their way. "We cannot afford to lose any more of our pack members like Dylan and his group. We will emerge victorious in every battle we fight," the Alpha declared sternly to his pack.
"Is that clear?!" he bellowed.
"Yes, Alpha!" the wolves responded confidently.
The Bloody Scar pack grew even stronger, with heightened security measures in place throughout the castle. I became more cautious with my actions.
"Where are you headed, Crema?" Alpha Henrick said.
"I was planning to assist Martha with the preparations for the gathering later, Alpha," I replied.
"You need not worry about that anymore. Let Martha and the other Arwanas handle it," he advised calmly.
"But I want to help and learn more about the castle's chores, Alpha," I insisted.
"If that is your wish, I won't stop you. However, make sure to stop when you feel tired and leave the rest to the Arwanas," he warned.
I nodded and smiled, then proceeded to the kitchen to lend a hand. The Arwanas were responsible for cooking inside the castle, as they had chosen to remain maidens and not seek out their mates.
"Crema, what brings you here?" Martha asked.
"I wanted to help, Martha," I replied with a smile.
"No need, dear. We have everything under control. The Arwanas are here to assist," Martha declined.
"We're almost done, actually," she added with a grin.
I was taken aback by her words, but overheard the two Arwana women conversing. My blood boiled with excitement upon hearing their discussion.
"Abi Aryana, Elijah cunning cousin visiting. She'll love this food, as it's her favorite. I can't wait to see her reaction," one of the women exclaimed.
I couldn't believe what I had just heard. The audacity of those two to gossip right in front of me! My anger was boiling inside me, and I wanted to scold them so finely that they would never dare to do it again. How could they be so shameless?
As I stared at the food they had prepared, I suddenly realized that it was on fire. The cake they had made was completely burned, and both of them were in shock. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of power was at play here.
Without saying a word, I immediately left the scene and started walking down the corridor. It was then that I bumped into Alpha Henrick. He look at me and smile. he was curious as to why I was leaving and ignoring him.
"I thought you were going to help Martha with the food," he said, confusion evident in his voice.
My anger towards him intensified, and I had the urge to slap him repeatedly. My blood was boiling for him, especially when I thought about Aryana coming here.
Ignoring his question, I continued walking without giving him a second glance.
I had no desire to attend the gathering later. I didn't want to see that woman again.
"Clara, are you angry with me again? What have I done wrong?" he asked calmly.
"No, Alpha," I replied curtly.
I made my way to my room as quickly as possible. Once I closed the door, I let out my frustration, muttering angrily to myself.
"That woman will be a real obstacle to my plans with the Alpha! She's nothing but trouble!" I exclaimed.
I was certain that once she joined the gathering, Alpha's attention would be divided. I wanted him to focus solely on me, and if he got too close to that woman, it would make it difficult for me to make him fall in love and tame him. I said this to myself with conviction.
"What if Aryana takes him away from me? The position should be mine!" I added, feeling a surge of possessiveness.
The thought of escaping the castle and running away crossed my mind. I just needed to breathe and escape from all these negative thoughts. The guards were too busy gambling to notice me slipping out. I made my way back to the peaceful spot in the middle of the forest. I knew we had been attacked by a vampire before, so I had to be extra vigilant this time.
