Chapter 157

Chapter 157

Octavius's POV

Seraphine left before I could say another word.

"I heard everything you two just said." Quinlan walked in, staring at me coldly. "So now you've confirmed it—Seraphine's father is the culprit, right?"

I looked at her stubborn expression and frowned slowly. "What exactly do you want, Quinlan? Didn't I already tell you? I'll handle my own revenge. This has nothing to do with you. Stop coming to me."

"Nothing to do with me?" Quinlan stepped closer, glaring. "Don't you get it? Your business is my business! At a time like this, you can't go soft on the Whitaker family."

I slammed the documents I'd just picked up back onto the desk. "How do you know I'm going soft on the Whitaker family? I've never given up on revenge! Not before, and not now! I just don't want to hurt Seraphine. Can't you understand that?"

"Not wanting to hurt her means you care about her—that you want to be with her!" Quinlan looked pained, her lips pressed tight. "You still can't let her go, can you? If she begged you not to go after Heath, you wouldn't do it—would you?"

My expression darkened further. "Get out!"

Quinlan's eyes immediately reddened. "Going soft on her means betraying your mother and grandfather. I don't want to keep nagging you—like I'm trying to tear you two apart on purpose!"

I felt even more disgusted. I stood, leaning over the desk to threaten her. "My affairs are none of your business. If you insist on meddling, I'll make sure you never speak another word."

Quinlan stepped back twice, pressing her lips together in fear.

I knew if I didn't scare her now, she'd just keep nagging.

"For the sake of the help you gave me before, I'll give you one last chance. Disappear from my sight right now. Otherwise, I'll have someone cut out your tongue."

Quinlan's face turned pale instantly.

Tears welled in her eyes as she shook her head. "I shouldn't have helped you. You're not worth it!"

With that, Quinlan turned and left.

I sat there for a long time before picking up my phone and calling the manager of our strategy department. "Notify all senior executives and shareholders—I'm calling the most urgent meeting in Capulet Group history."

Half an hour later, all the executives had rushed to the conference room.

They all looked serious, staring at me with confusion and concern.

"Mr. Capulet, why the emergency summons? Did something major happen to the company?"

I stood before them, scanning their tense faces, and spoke coldly. "The company hasn't called you all together like this in a long time. I've brought you here today for one reason only."

Everyone immediately adjusted their posture and focused intently on me.

I continued. "After investigation, I've confirmed that my grandfather's company failed because the president of the Whitaker Group used vicious methods years ago to destroy the Stewart family's business. I trust you all understand what I'm getting at?"

Several people looked shocked.

"So the Stewart Group's collapse was connected to the Whitaker Group? That makes them our enemies."

"We need to declare war on the Whitaker Group. They all have to pay."

"What should we do now, Mr. Capulet? Just tell us—we'll follow your lead."

Everyone stood on the same side as me.

I looked around and saw that every single person shared this attitude. Not one opposed what I was doing.

I spoke immediately, telling them the plan I'd already prepared. "Use any means necessary. Within three days, make the Whitaker Group collapse."

I pulled a bank card from my pocket and placed it on the table. "Don't let the Whitaker Group suffer major losses. Just use every method available to make their company unable to operate. All their current project profits, cash flow, and investment capital—recover everything into this bank card."

Everyone agreed immediately. "Understood!"

"That's all for this meeting. Go carry out your tasks." With that, I turned and left.

Everyone whispered about the bank card. After I left, their voices became louder.

"Do you think Mr. Capulet is doing this to recover all the Stewart family's assets?"

"It must be. Otherwise, why would he tell us to recover the Whitaker Group's profits instead of just bankrupting them outright?"

"Taking back the company without destroying any projects or partnerships, and without letting the company incur losses—that's going to be difficult."

"Yeah."

They all discussed my intentions and goals.

I stood outside the door listening for a moment before leaving.

Results were all that mattered. There was no need to explain anything to them.

In just half a day, news kept pouring in from the Whitaker Group.

Every time my office door opened, someone came in to report.

"Report, Mr. Capulet. We've gotten all partners to suspend cooperation with the Whitaker Group. It's only a suspension—not a complete shutdown."

"Their operating funds are also unusable. We used some methods to freeze everything. Rest assured, we won't let them incur any losses."

"We've also broken through their shareholders one by one. Most are willing to transfer their shares to you."

"The Whitaker Group's operations have completely stalled. They're paralyzed. But since the projects were suspended in advance, they haven't suffered any losses."

"We've also sealed off information internally. Any financial media outlets that caught wind of this have been dealt with. There won't be any chaotic reports."

"To outsiders, the Whitaker Group looks like nothing happened. It won't affect their stock market either."

People came in continuously from noon to evening to report. It never stopped.

I listened quietly to their reports. Once I confirmed that all of the Whitaker Group's funds and assets had been recovered, I finally picked up my phone and called Seraphine.

But after several attempts, it showed no one answered.

I called Heath next. Even he didn't pick up.

For some reason, a bad feeling suddenly crept over me.

Seraphine never ignored calls. Even if she was angry at me or in a bad mood, she'd just hang up directly.

Leaving it unanswered wasn't her style—unless something serious had happened.

"What are you all standing around for? Go find out what's going on at the Whitaker Group! I need to know what's happening inside the company right now!"

"Yes, sir." My subordinate answered and left.

I waited in my office for news from their side, wondering if Seraphine would understand what I'd done today.

If she understood, she should know what I was trying to do... right?
