Ronan’s eyes turned red with heartbreak. He desperately tried hold me.
“Sherry, it’s not your fault. You did nothing wrong. I’m the one who fucked up.”
“I really screwed up. Would you give me a chance to make this right, please?”
I pushed him away ruthlessly. Ronan stumbled back and dropped to his knees in front of me, pulling out the wedding ring he’d taken from me.
“Sherry, I know I was wrong. I’ve cut things off with all those women.”
“Don’t worry–Natalie wasn’t really pregnant. I’ve handled everything. And I get back the ring!”
“This is a property agreement. Everything I own goes to you. I’ll never have anything to do with other women again.
“Please, forgive me.”
“Let’s get back together, please! No–this time let me atone for my sins.”
He begged desperately, tears streaming down his face.
I laughed bitterly and kicked him in the stomach, just like he’d done to me.
“Ronan, how the fuck are we supposed to get back together?”
“You owe me three lives!”
“The best way you can make it up to me is to get lost! Never show your face around me again!”
I walked away without looking back.
But Ronan scrambled after me.
The moment I pushed through the restaurant door, I saw Ian leaning against a streetlight with his arms crossed and
his head down. Half his face was hidden in shadow, unable to catch his emotion.
I suddenly had an idea. I threw my arms around his neck and kissed him.
“Ian, were you waiting long?”
Ian froze for a moment–there was joy in his eyes that I couldn’t quite understand.
But I ignored it and turned back to provoke Ronan.

Chapter 9
“Ronan Henstone, see that? I have a new boyfriend. We’re never getting back together.”
Before Ronan could say anything. Ian snapped out of it. He immediately wrapped his arm around my waist and
walked off.
Until we got back to the hotel, I pulled away from his embrace and said seriously.
“Ian, that was my ex–husband. I didn’t want him bothering me anymore, so I said you were my boyfriend.”
“If you mind, Sorry for that.”
The light in Ian’s eyes dimmed, but then he clung to me stubbornly.
I instinctively tried to escape, but he held me tighter.
Ian lowered his voice. “Don’t move. Your psycho ex is still watching from outside. I’m just helping you out.”
After that, we pretended to be a couple.
And Ronan continued to follow us relentlessly.
Whenever he got the chance, he’d approach me with various gifts: postcards, little figurines.
Ronan would ramble on about our dating days, hoping to see some emotion on my face.
I just pushed him away tiredly. “Ronan, I thought I was pretty clear. We’re over.”
A motorcycle suddenly came speeding toward us. Both men shouted and ran toward me.
But I threw myself into Ian’s arms.
Ronan froze in place. And in the next moment, the motorcycle knocked him to the ground. His head hit the stones, blood pouring from the wound.
I checked Ian’s hands in a panic–they had several scrapes.
“Are you stupid? You could’ve just pulled me away. Now you’re hurt too.”
I completely missed the heartbroken look Ronan was giving me from the ground.
By the time I came to my senses, he was already on his way to the hospital.
Watching the ambulance disappear into the busy street, I knew Ronan wouldn’t come after me again.
I turned and took Ian’s hand.
Finally, everything was over.

Three Deaths, One Divorce–Now You’ll Pay with Your Endless Regret
Chapter 9
Six months later, under a blanket of stars in the Swiss Alps, Ian got down on one knee.
“Sherry Rovella,” his young face serious with love, “I’ve waited my whole life for you. Will you marry me?”
This time, I said yes with my whole heart.
Our wedding was small and perfect–just us, a few close friends, and the mountains as our witness.
No drama, no pain, just pure joy.
Ian slipped the ring onto my finger with tears in his eyes, and I knew I’d finally found my home.
When we returned to New York, Ian threw himself into building his business with the same determination he’d once used to follow me across Europe. His company grew quickly, and soon we had everything we’d dreamed of.
But the most beautiful surprise came a year later–our daughter Iris.
Holding her tiny fingers for the first time, I felt a love so fierce it took my breath away. Ian cried when she wrapped her hand around his thumb, whispering promises to always protect her.
“She’s perfect,” he breathed, “just like her mother.”
Life was good. Ian’s business flourished, we bought a beautiful home, and Iris grew into the most precious little girl.
I enrolled her in Oak Lane Academy–the best private school in the city. Ian and I wanted to give her every opportunity, every advantage we could.
For the first time in years, I believed in happy endings.
Until today.
My five–year–old daughter burst into tears the moment she got home. She begged me not to make her go back to Oak Lane Academy.
She was too scared to tell me why. Just kept shaking and crying.
