Chapter 4
Ronan staggered back and fell on the cold hospital bed, taking forever to come back to himself.
Joy and guilt twisted together inside him. He pulled out his phone, typed a few words to Sherry in their chat. But then deleted them.
It finally came to his mind that why Sherry looked so broken this morning.
She’d lost her mom too.
But somehow, he still felt she shouldn’t be forgiven so easily..
All kinds of thoughts were about to explode in his head.
Finally, Ronan shoved his phone back in his pocket irritably.
And Natalie had appeared in front of him in her hospital gown, looking pitiful:
“Ronan, why did you just leave me like that?”
“The room’s so cold. I’m scared.”
She sat down on his lap all fragile–like, closing her eyes and leaning in for a kiss.
Ronan turned his head away in disgust.
He never had patience for other women beyond one night anyway. He only kept Natalie around this long because she had a soft body and was wild in bed.
Looking at the once–innocent and sweet girl now wearing a flattering and submissive expression, Ronan just felt
bored.
Instinctively, he wanted to call Sherry over to deal with it like always.
And he did try.
But there’s no one answer.
One call, two calls, three calls…
The frustration grew on Ronan’s face, even the air around him heavy with tension.
Natalie had never seen him like this before. Her hands were wrapping around his neck. But when she saw “Wifey” on his phone screen, jealousy flared in her eyes.

Chapter 4
She leaned in and snatched his phone, whispering in his ear:
“Ronan, why are you calling her? You promised you’d stay with me all day.”
“Maybe we should try for twins. I’ve never done it in a hospital room…”
Ronan’s gaze sharpened as she grabbed the phone. Natalie immediately got terrified and shut up.
He locked eyes with the attending physician hurrying downstairs.
The doctor nodded at him, confirming everything was handled. The contraceptive shot had been injected into Natalie’s body.
Even if she got lucky and gave birth, it would just be a useless and deformed freak anyway. Nothing to worry about.
Either way, Ronan still insisted to have kids with Sherry anyway.
Seeing the woman in his arms was annoying with her fake bullshit, he suddenly realized Sherry hadn’t acted cute
with him in forever.
Even their sex life was a struggle, each time leaving Sherry in tears.
Ronan felt like maybe he’d gone too far. He wanted to go home and make it up to her.
Natalie grabbed his sleeve just as he stood up, staring at him with her sad and expectant eyes.
She actually thought she’d won Ronan’s heart, not understood why the guy who desperately demanding from her this morning was now so cold.
She looked up at him with a nervous but sweet smile.
“Ronan, my clothes are getting old. Will you take me shopping for maternity clothes? And maybe some baby stuff too?”
“Do you think it’ll be a boy or girl?”
Ronan stopped dead. Yeah, was Sherry carrying a boy or girl?
His expression softened without him realizing it, his heart melting too.
The next second, he hated himself for it. The image of his mother and her coffin came into his mind.
Ronan’s face darkened. Finally, under Natalie’s hopeful gaze, he took her hand. “Let’s go.”
It was already late when they left the mall.
Natalie kept watching Ronan’s face nervously. She couldn’t understand why, his eyes turned ice cold every time he looked at her when he was picking out maternity clothes and baby stuff.

Chapter 4
Ronan walked fast, carrying all the bags. Natalie had to jog to keep up. Then she managed to grab hold of his wrist..
“Babe, I want to go to the grocery store too.”
“I’m a really good cook! Let me make you dinner tonight, okay?”
But Ronan shook her off roughly, his tone cold.
“Don’t bother. Go back to school.”
Watching Ronan load everything into his Maybach, Natalie desperately tried to open the passenger door.
And it only slammed on her fingers.
She pulled back in panic as Ronan hit the gas and took off.
All she got in the end was a face full of exhaust.
