Chapter 25 Chapter 25//
—I followed the wolf. It’s heading for the bar —she informed coldly. —We need to act quickly.
Meanwhile, inside Nathan’s bar, Rael sensed a familiar presence. The air grew heavy, thick with the tension that always preceded danger. He could feel the approach of vampires long before he saw them. With a final sip of his drink, he placed the glass down and stood, his movements calm but deliberate, before walking out into the dimly lit street.
Outside, the Darkblood Clan had gathered. Victor stood at the front, his expression carved in disdain.
—Rael, do you really think you can stand between us and our honor? —Victor’s voice was sharp, almost venomous. —You’re a lone wolf. You don’t belong here. Leave while you still can, before things get worse.
Rael didn’t move. His eyes locked on Victor’s, his stance unyielding. Before he could respond, another presence made itself known.
From the shadows emerged Cedric and his pack, their arrival shifting the balance of power instantly. Cedric’s aura carried authority—calm but commanding.
—Wait —Cedric said, his tone firm enough to silence the growing hostility. —This wolf is not your enemy. In fact, I invite Rael to join our pack. He has proven his strength—and his worth goes far beyond that.
Rael’s eyes widened in surprise, though relief soon followed. Cedric’s words were more than an offer; they were a declaration of protection.
Victor’s gaze darkened, but Cedric continued without hesitation.
—And let it be clear —Cedric added, his tone hardening. —If you go after Rael, you go after me. You go after my pack. And that would mean war. We won’t hesitate to defend him.
Victor’s fury boiled over.
—That filthy wolf will stay away from my daughter and from all vampires! —he roared, his voice echoing through the night. —I will never accept this alliance!
With that, Victor turned sharply, his cloak billowing as he strode away, his glare burning into Rael one last time before vanishing into the dark.
Rael exhaled deeply, feeling both relief and gratitude. The weight of isolation had lifted. Cedric’s alliance changed everything. Now, he had allies—strength—and a chance to protect not only himself, but Selene too.
As the Darkblood Clan dispersed, Rael straightened, his resolve solidifying. The war was far from over, but this time, he wouldn’t face it alone.
After the crowd had cleared, Cedric motioned for Rael to follow him. They left the bar behind, walking deeper into the quiet edges of the forest. The night was calm, yet charged with unspoken tension.
—So, Rael, what’s really going on between you and Selene? —Cedric asked, his tone steady but probing.
Rael took a breath, his expression firm. —Selene is different. What I feel for her… it’s not something I can ignore. She’s not a vampire yet, and that makes things complicated. Her father already promised her to another. The whole situation is dangerous.
Cedric crossed his arms, his gaze thoughtful. —You know Victor won’t hesitate to act if he believes his daughter is threatened. And the clan’s presence here is no coincidence. You’re walking on a knife’s edge. Still… —he paused, his tone softening— you can count on me. But you need to tread carefully.
—I know —Rael said. —But I can’t abandon her. What we have is real. And I won’t give it up.
Cedric studied him for a long moment, then nodded. —By joining my pack, you’re no longer just a lone wolf. You’ll be part of something greater—and that means protecting those who matter, even at great cost. Are you ready for that?
—I’m ready —Rael replied without hesitation. —I’ll do whatever it takes to protect Selene.
A faint smile touched Cedric’s lips. —Good. Then we understand each other. But be warned, Rael—war is coming. And when it does, you’d better be ready.
As Cedric disappeared into the shadows, Rael stood for a moment, feeling the weight in his chest ease. He was no longer alone. With Cedric’s protection and the strength of the pack, he felt the tide turning in his favor.
But deep in the forest, the tension between clans was building like a storm. Every decision Rael made from this point on could change everything. He was ready to face it—not just for survival, but for Selene, and the forbidden love that had become his reason to fight.
Back at the bar, Rael paused by the door, his gaze distant yet determined. The battle for love and acceptance was only beginning—but this time, he had allies, purpose, and something worth bleeding for.
