Chapter 15 Chapter 15

Chapter 15 Chapter 15
The motorcycle wound its way down the winding road, the sound of the wind the only thing filling the silence between them. Selene felt the heat of Rael's body through the thin layer of his clothing, and it made her uneasy. Every second there, holding him, seemed to reinforce the certainty that being with him was a challenge she was willing to face, even if the path ahead was fraught with uncertainty and danger.

After a few kilometers, Rael finally slowed down, turning onto a small dirt path that led to a hidden clearing in the forest. He parked the bike and turned off the engine, leaving the surrounding atmosphere surprisingly quiet. Selene removed her helmet, her hair cascading around her face as she looked around curiously.

— What is this place? — she asked, getting off the bike and surveying the clearing. There was something magical about the space, as if it were isolated from the rest of the world.

Rael smiled, approaching her. — One of my favorite places. I come here when I need to think... or just get away from it all.

Selene felt a pang of sympathy. She knew what it was like to long to escape, even for a brief moment, the responsibilities and expectations surrounding her. — It's beautiful — she said softly, admiring the tall trees and the sunlight filtering through the leaves, creating dancing patterns on the ground.

He watched her for a moment, as if deciding something. — Selene — he began, his voice more serious — I know our situation is... complicated, to say the least. But there's something about you, something that draws me in and makes me want to break all the rules.

She looked at him, surprised by his honesty. — I feel the same way — she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. — Since we met, everything in my life has been turned upside down. But somehow, when I'm with you, everything seems more... clear.

Rael took a step closer, his eyes fixed on hers. — I know your family will do everything they can to separate us. They've already made that clear.

Selene nodded, feeling a knot form in her stomach. — They're stubborn. But so am I — she said, trying to smile.

Rael leaned even closer, the tension between them growing. — Selene, I can't promise this will be easy. In fact, it will probably be the hardest thing we've ever done. But I want to try... with you.

Selene's heart was pounding so hard she almost thought he could hear it. Unable to contain the wave of emotions surging through her, she leaned into him, closing the distance between them. Their lips met in an intense kiss, full of urgency and desire. It was as if the whole world had stopped in that instant, leaving just the two of them, alone in that clearing.

When they finally pulled away, they were both breathless, but their eyes shone with new determination. — We're in this together — she said, her voice firm.

Rael smiled, a smile that showed not only attraction, but also a silent promise. — Together — he repeated, as if sealing a pact between them.

For a moment, they stood there, simply enjoying each other's company, the peace of the place. But Selene knew they couldn't stay there forever. Eventually, they would have to return to reality, face the consequences of what they were getting themselves into.

— I think we need to go back — she said finally, with a sigh.

Rael nodded, but he didn't seem in a hurry. — Yes, but first... — He took her hand and pulled her closer, planting another quick kiss on her lips. — Just one more to keep with me until next time.

She laughed, a light, carefree sound he loved to hear. — Okay, but don’t get used to it.

They got back on the bike, and this time the ride back was slower, as if they both wanted to prolong the moment as much as possible. When they finally arrived at Selene's house, he dropped her off at the entrance, the two exchanging one last look before she went inside.

As she walked into the house, Selene felt different. Stronger, more determined. She knew the challenges ahead would be immense, but at that moment, she didn't care. She had Rael by her side, and that was all she needed to keep going.

As soon as she entered the house, she felt the weight of her family's gaze on her. They were all there, waiting, as if they knew something. But Selene held her head high, ready for whatever was to come. What she and Rael had now was a burning flame, something no one could easily extinguish.
