Chapter 67

Jewels

After visiting Jade and Ruby I roamed the pack house in search of the others. I didn't have to look far when Diamond ran up to me with the biggest smile on her face.

"Jewels where are Crystal and Sapphire? I need to tell all of you something."

"Okay. What is it?"

"Once we're all together."

I mind linked Sapphire since we were still a part of the same pack and I could reach her easily. She said Crystal was with Diego but she would bring her along and we could meet in the empty room next near the pack doctor's. I was extremely curious since Diamond was acting strange. We walked together and collected Jade and Ruby. They seemed just as confused as I was. Sapphire and Crystal arrived and finally the wait was over.

"Now will you tell us what this is all about?" I asked anxiously.

"I've met my mate." We all gasped in shock.

"When?"

"Where?"

"Just a little while ago. He's the Council Leader, Xander." No one was expecting that. There were rumors about the Council and it's leader. I was fine with having them assess the situation with Phoenix and Hunter. After all they are the ones who carry out the rules and laws of our kind and were meant to be unbiased. But having Diamond mated to the strongest of them all worried me. I wasn't sure why, she was destined to be with him, but I was concerned.

"Diamond that's-" Sapphire couldn't finish her statement.

"That's amazing is what she means to say. It's just a shock. I have to admit it's a little scary." I said trying to break the tension.

"Exactly. It's just concerning. What's he like?" asked Crystal.

"Well he's incredible. He actually bowed to me when we met. He seems sweet. Although he is a stickler for rules and order, that's expected considering his position."

"So he has accepted you?" Jade said voicing what we all wanted to know.

"Yes he has. He says he's been waiting forever for me to come along. Girls it was like a dream."

"Well as long as he treats fairly that's all that matters. I have to admit he creeped me out a bit, but we're happy for you," said Ruby.

"Yeah at least one of us gets a normal caring mate without any Drama," said Crystal. We all laughed at that. It seems that Xander and Diamond would be the exception to the hell and back that came with each of the others meeting their mate.

"And you know what this means. Only one to go," said Sapphire. They all looked at me smiling. I felt something drop to the pit of my stomach. Who knew how long it would be before I met my mate.

"Don't worry. You'll find him soon," said Jade.

"Yeah I suppose so." The moon goddess had a plan and we all just had to have faith she knew what she was doing.

"Oh my goodness we all have to pack. Xander asked if I wanted to go with him to Council Headquarters. He actually asked me, not demanded. I can't believe someone like him listens and isn't a total brute being as powerful as he is."

"Consider yourself lucky," said Crystal. They all seconded that.

"I told him I wanted you all to come so he arranged it. He did say there would be some questioning though."

Ruby and Jade looked at each other and I knew they were worried. This affected them most of all.

"No matter what happens we all have to stick together. We can't let this tear us apart. We were sisters way before anyone was mated. The fate of our kind lies with us." I reminded them. We all agreed. Things were uncertain at the moment but soon it would be over. After the trial and finding my mate maybe things would finally start to change.

Xander

I had an hour to handle some very important business. Before I left I needed a clearer picture of what happened here. I had to talk to Julie face to face.

"Hi aunt Tracy, uncle Kevin. Is Julie around?"

"Xander! It seems like ages since you last visited. It only took an attack on our pack to get to come around," my aunt said playfully.

"I'm sorry. I've been busy. I promise I'll visit more often."

"You better. Bring your brothers and sister with you as well. It's past time that we catch up."

"Yes mam."

"Julie is upstairs."

"Thanks."

I ran upstairs and knocked on her door.

"Julie it's me I need to talk to you."

She opened the door and hugged me.

"Xander I'm so happy you came."

She was an only child and grew up with us. We were the closest things to siblings that she had. She had always wanted brothers and sisters, a large family.

"How could I not? I need your help with something. I know we've discussed some of this on the phone but I need you to clear up some things if you can."

"I'll try."

"I'm curious about the strange phenomenons that have been occuring. The storms, water and other strange natural occurrences. Is there anything else you can tell me about what might have caused them?"

"Not really. They're a mystery to everyone."

"Was River's mate around at the time the water appeared?" I had a theory, but I couldn't prove it.

"I think so. Why?"

"What about the storm?"

"Diego's mate I believe. I'm not certain?"

"What about the flames and ground shaking? You said that's what stopped everything?"

"Basically yes since the two leaders were thrown a part."

"We're their mates close by at the time?"

"They showed up not long after to get them help. Why?"

"Thanks, you've been a big help."

I went back to the pack house. To get the others. I wanted to head back immediately.

"I need Phoenix and Hunter ready to travel now. The jet should be landing. Inform their mates." I told the pack doctor. I had to find Diamond.

I followed her scent and realized that the pack doctor and I were heading in the same direction.

"Never mind, I'll inform them. You just prepare your patients," he nodded and I opened the door to see that she was with five others. Four of which were connected to an alpha.

"Am I interrupting something?"

"Not at all. This is Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Jade, and Jewels," she said introducing each of them.

"Nice to meet you all. So I take it these are the sisters you're so fond of?"

"Yes."

"I hate to break up the get together but we have to leave now. I have asked the pack doctor to prepare your mates," I said to the ones called Ruby and Jade. They nodded and left without a word.

"We'll just go finish up," said the one called Crystal taking the others with her. I was left alone with Diamond.

"So tell me enchantress. Are you like them?"
