Chapter 31 30
Chapter 31 30
Chapter Thirty
Soleil
I did the one thing to do when someone misunderstood someone--which is me, at the moment.
Quillon thought I pitied him, a miscalculation of my actions on his part.
I felt guilty. I still do.
And there's one thing I could think of right now.
To lie and get on his flow.
Once back at the cabin, I opened the door with a bang.
"You're right," I said even though I hadn't seen him. I can feel his presence inside, though.
My eyes landed on the far corner of the bed where he sat on the mattress with his long leg straight, and his back leaning on the headboard.
Quillon didn't look stunned by my sudden outburst, and I held his gaze with mine.
"I shouldn't have felt bad for whatever you experienced; that won't help you, and it's wrong. I realized you're frequently reminded of what happened when I act out of pity, and I apologize for everything I did. Rest assured that I'll stop whatever possesses me to do your bidding. It won't happen again."
He raised a brow after I rambled for what feels like a whole minute without taking a breath.
There. A lie I'd never feel guilty about because it helps this situation.
"You're not leaving." He stated, no emotions whatsoever.
I frowned. "No. You said to get my shit together, and this is me getting my shit together."
"I said, get a grip of yourself." He corrected, and I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Semantics.” I rolled my eyes. “I'm not leaving. You still need my help to control your wolf, and this time I'm willing to help."
Also, I should be close to Quillon because it will help ease the guilt I'm still feeling. Aside from that, I want to see this through. The what and why's, the reasons behind my father and his dirty deeds directed to this man.
My thoughts were interrupted when Quillon stood with agonizingly slow movement. He kept his eyes locked on mine, and he moved like a predator on its prey.
I willed myself not to take a step back, but Quillon stopped at the foot of the bed and sat there.
He just stared at me, and I couldn't read his mind from that nonchalant expression he had on.
"Remove your top." He didn't ask; he commanded.
I blinked twice, dumbfounded.
"W-What?" This time I moved back one step.
"You heard me."
"Why would I do that?"
"I need skin-to-skin contact because my control was starting to slip. Now, remove your top and come to me."
It took me a beat before I realized what he was up to.
He was testing if I was telling the truth. Ugh.
Instead of doing what he ordered me to do, I walked closer to him. Slowly, like how he did earlier.
He didn't break eye contact, and I didn't as well.
I stopped when I was in front of him. The tip of my toes almost touched his.
Leaning forward, I brought my lips to his ear so I could whisper the words.
"In your fucking dreams." My voice came out more seductive than what I intended to sound like.
Quickly, I stood straight, but Quillon grabbed my waist and trapped my legs between his opened one.
His head was almost buried in my breasts if I wasn't quick to press my palms on his chest.
"What are you doing?" I asked, irritated and confused.
Quillon dove his head on my neck despite my hands trying to shove him off me and took a long sniff of my scent.
What the hell?
"Who are you with?" He asked with a tone laced with something dark that sent shivers up my spine.
"Get off me! Why are you sniffing my neck like a dog!?" I pushed him again, but his grip on my waist tightened.
I winced when his fingers dug into my skin.
"Answer my question. Who were you with? Did you meet someone outside?"
"Oh, you mean when you kicked me out? Can't we have a conversation without your hands on me? Quillon!"
I struggled, but he was stronger. The way he held me would end with bruises, I'm sure, but he seemed not to care.
Quillon leaned back, and now I could see his eyes with the dim light coming from behind me.
The golden brown hues in his eyes were nowhere to be found. His irises were black, and it's not from the lack of lighting. I know, because I always see those eyes when we're about to sleep at night for days now.
"I must say, this is the fiery side I missed about you, but I need you to answer my question, Soleil. Now."
And I know he wasn't kidding. I stopped struggling and groaned loudly.
"I don't know, okay?! I just talked to him for like ten minutes!"
"Him?"
His grip loosened, and I managed to get out of his space.
My eyes must be throwing daggers his way, but he only looked at me with a clenched jaw.
"What does he look like?"
I was busy checking my skin, finding red marks that would surely bruise later.
"Your fingers are etched on my skin, and you're asking what a stranger looked like?"
His eyes moved to the exposed skin on my waist from how my top crumpled up, and he smirked as if he liked what he saw.
"Answer me, Soleil." He said, meeting my eyes again.
I groaned. "There's a man out there, behind a tree in the east part of this forest. I thought he was hurt, but it's only a headache. I didn't see his face clearly, but his hair is long. Shoulder-length. He said his name was--"
"Draco," Quillon said in a growl, and his eyes darkened.
I narrowed my eyes. "You know him?"
His grip loosened, and I moved away to get a better view of his expression. Because up close? He looked like he was ready to kill someone.
Quillon only looked away, his nostrils flaring, not bothering to respond.
Silence means yes, anyway. So he must have known him.
"If you think I told him about you or something, give me more credit than that."
"You don't need to."
I blinked. "What do you mean?"
Quillon stood up and looked at me under his nose. "He already knows."
Then he headed to his bag and picked something like a snack before walking towards the door.
"Go to sleep. I'll be back in a few." Then he was out before I could utter a word.
Leaving me clueless and confused.
