Epilogue
Epilogue
Amara’s POV.
"This is life!"
I chuckled as I looked at Odessa, hugging herself and enjoying the breeze. We were currently aboard a yacht, sailing towards an island that Damien had rented for three days and two nights.
"You act like you’ve never set foot on sand before," Simon teased.
Odessa shot him a glare, raising an eyebrow and rolling her eyes before moving away from him. But Simon was persistent and followed her. These two wouldn’t stop bickering, just like an old couple.
"Mom!" Daniel called out to me, grabbing my attention. He was running towards me.
"Be careful!" I scolded him.
He stopped running and waited for me to catch up.
"What is it, sweetheart?" I asked him.
He looked up at me and smiled, making me laugh at how adorable he looked. "Daddy told me to find you," he said.
I furrowed my brow. Damien? What was that man up to now? I shook my head.
"Where is he?" I asked our son.
Using his finger, he pointed towards something - or rather, someone. And there was my husband, standing at the front of the yacht, looking as handsome as ever, waving his hand while holding Lily in the other.
I blinked in surprise as Daniel took hold of my hand and led me towards his father. As we approached, I looked at Damien, his gaze fixed on me.
"What’s happening?" I asked, feeling confused.
He chuckled and leaned in closer, his voice a whisper in my ear. "Everything has been resolved, just as you wanted," he informed me.
A rush of joy filled my heart. "Really?" I exclaimed in excitement.
He shook my head at my reaction, before holding onto the railing and leaning against it, still carrying Lily, while Daniel mimicked his father’s actions.
"Daniel, that’s not safe," I scolded him once again, worried that he might slip and fall into the sea.
But he just grinned and held onto Damien’s hand, leaving me no choice but to facepalm. My son always seemed to act out when his father was around. So, I gave Damien a stern look.
He looked back at me innocently. "What?" Even his voice sounded innocent, as if he weren’t pretending to be a good cop. I sighed in frustration.
"Guys, pose. I’ll take a picture," Elena called out.
I paused and turned to Elena, who had been taking pictures with her camera all this time. I nodded and approached my family. We positioned ourselves with Daniel and Lily in the middle. Damien placed his hand on my shoulder.
"Alright!" Elena signaled. "On the count of three, say cheese!"
I joined in and let out a chuckle.
"One, two, and three…"
"Cheese!" we exclaimed in unison.
I was bursting in laughter until I noticed Samael watching us with a smile.
"Samael, come join us! Let’s take a picture together!" I called out to him.
I saw a flicker of surprise in his eyes before he shook his head.
"Come on! Let’s capture our first photo together," I beckoned him with a smile. I could sense his hesitation.
I sighed and locked eyes with him. He looked me in the eye, telling me that it was okay, but I knew deep down it wasn’t just for me.
I wanted him to fully experience and be a part of everything.
"Samael, come over here and join us for a photo."
I glanced at Damien, who was looking at Samael. Samael, seemingly surprised again, scratched his head and made his way towards us. I furrowed my brow and raised an eyebrow at my husband.
"Why is it that they listen to you willingly, while I have to force them?" I complained, which elicited a laugh from him.
He leaned in and kissed my cheek, his laughter still lingering. I couldn’t help but smile as Samael joined us, standing by my side. We all turned to Elena, who gave us a thumbs-up.
"One more shot! Great," she exclaimed after capturing the moment.
I smiled and turned to Samael, his eyes meeting mine. "Live with ease now, Samael. We have our chance now," I whispered.
I saw his eyes and nose turn slightly red. I smiled softly and embraced him. He was still the little brother I had always known, the one who would shed tears over the smallest things. But those little things weren’t little to him, to us. Those little things were big enough to bring us the happiness we had always prayed for.
"Hey, count us in!"
I blinked when I heard Simon’s voice, holding Odessa’s hand as she glared at him. It seemed like others heard too, as they turned their attention towards us.
"Wait, we want to join too!"
I closed my eyes and sighed. They all joined in the chaos that Simon brought, smiling as they took their places. I just hoped the yacht wouldn’t flip over with all of us gathered here for the photo. Some others even approached with laughter.
I just shook my head while Damien laughed and posed for the camera. Elena set up a stand to adjust it. She set the timer before rushing to join us in the group photo.
"Alright, say cheese!" she signaled before the camera clicked.
"Cheese... on bread!" Simon added.
We all burst into laughter at his remark, while Odessa playfully slapped him. I looked at each of them with a fond gaze, and my smile grew even wider. The warmth that enveloped us felt like home. We were more than just members of the pack – we were a united and happy family.
