Chapter 118

Chapter 118
Amara’s POV.

"Watch out!"

Like the wind, I evaded an incoming attack from a rogue behind me. Leaping into the air, I transformed into Ruby and sank my teeth into the rogue’s neck before tossing it aside. I glanced at Amelia and nodded in gratitude.

"Thanks!" I mouthed, receiving a nod in return.

Without hesitation, I launched myself into the enemies with precision and speed. Within minutes, the scent of blood hung in the air.

The battlefield echoed with growls and groans, the clash of claws against claws. Power and dominance were the ultimate prizes, and neither side was willing to back down. Neither side refused to be defeated.

In the midst of the chaos, I spotted Natasha, still in her human form and using her arcane magic. My eyes narrowed as I witnessed her taking aim at Phoenix. I didn’t waste a second and sprinted towards her, colliding with her to make her shot miss. She crashed onto the ground but swiftly stood up, brushing off the dirt from her clothes.

"You bitch!" she growled.

Noticing another arcane ball forming on her hand, I stayed alert. She smirked as she continuously hurled her magic in my direction. I dodged them one after another, evading them while inching closer to her.

When I closed the distance, I attempted to bite her arm, but she managed to block me, which surprised me because the way she did it wasn’t ordinary. From the ground where she was standing, she now floated effortlessly in the center of the battlefield, grinning at me

"Are you impressed?" she jeered.

"In your dreams," I thought to myself, silently reminding myself to keep my eyes on her as she hovered in the air.

"You see, I am more gifted than you. I should rightfully be the Luna of the Dark Crescent Pack because I am far more deserving," Natasha boasted.

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. "Enough with your arrogance, witch," I hissed.

Her grin widened. "Perhaps you’ve forgotten that we are equals? You, too, are a witch, just like me. We share the same blood, cousin."

I sarcastically nodded. "Ah, yes. But the truth remains, even if you consider yourself superior to me, I am still the chosen Luna of the Dark Crescent Pack. That will never change. Perhaps I’m replaceable, just not by you."

She seemed to get annoyed immediately and threw her arcane magic once more. Knowing the risk involved in reaching her with her advantage in the skies, I swiftly maneuvered away. I could reach her, but there was a big chance that she might hit me.

While I continued to evade her attacks, I strategized for an opportunity to turn the tides in my favor.

"Run! You worthless Luna!" she shouted insults and laughed.

"Are you okay there? Do you need help?"

I glanced over at my husband, who was currently fighting with Axel. If he could see me, he probably saw me rolling my eyes.

How could he even help? He had many opponents in front of him, including Axel.

"I’ll manage. I’m just waiting for this bitch to do something she will regret," I replied and focused on my opponent.

I winced as I felt a blow land on me, the pain searing through my body. Damien warned me through our mind link.

"Please be careful! I don’t want to see you get hurt," he pleaded.

"Could you focus? If you get hurt, I’ll punch you!" I retorted back at him.

I retreated into the cover of the forest, so I could hide behind the thick bushes.

"Running away like a coward?" the bitch Natasha taunted.

I scoffed at her remark. Who was the real coward here, using her magic and floating in the air while I fought as a mere werewolf?

I could feel her presence nearby, just a few meters away. Her words confirmed it.

"I know you’re here. I can smell you."

I rolled my eyes once again, refusing to let her get under my skin. Peering at her back turned to me, I seized the opportunity and charged forward. But to my dismay, she avoided my attack and retaliated with a blast of magic.

I fell to the ground. Though I whimpered in silence, I refused to give her the satisfaction of seeing me suffer. Against all odds, I struggled to my feet.

She laughed, looking down at me with a smug expression. "You can’t outsmart me."

In a desperate attempt, I lunged forward, aiming to bite at her feet as she finally descended to the ground. But before I could reach her, she unleashed another magic trick, hurling me into a nearby tree.

The impact was jarring, and I winced in pain. Struggling to regain my footing, I glared at her, but she only laughed in response.

"Do you honestly think you can defeat me?" she mocked.

I shot back, "You only say that because you don’t know how to fight fair."

She raised an eyebrow, seemingly amused by my retort. "That’s the whole point, cousin. Why don’t you use yours? Clearly, because you can’t handle me?"

My senses heightened as I noticed her preparing for another attack. This time, it wasn’t an arcane magic ball, but a bow and arrow formed from swirling blue smoke.

I leaped into the air to evade her initial strike and darted away. However, no matter how fast I ran, I felt restricted, hindered by her magic.

"I’ll make sure your nightmares become your reality, Amara," she declared, her voice echoing through the forest.

I leaned against a tree for support when I saw a blue smoke arrow struck the trunk and dissipated. I could feel that this wasn’t an ordinary bow and arrow spell. I refused to let this wench be the cause of my demise. My pride wouldn’t allow it. So, I pushed myself to run even faster.

I returned to the battlefield. I was taken aback to see Remi and Masha standing alongside the vampire clan. But what shocked me the most was the presence of Samael.

"What the hell? What is he doing here?" I muttered to myself, bewildered.

He was still just a child.

My heart nearly leapt out of my chest when I witnessed a rogue attacker sneaking up on him from behind, but my fears were quickly dispelled as he dodged the attack and deftly swung his katana, decapitating the rogue. He did the same to the other enemies he encountered.

Watching Samael fight against the rogues, I couldn’t help but be impressed. If I didn’t know him, I would have never guessed he was just a child. But amidst my awe, I realized I had almost forgotten about Natasha.

"Shit!" I cursed, snapping back to the present.

I rolled on the ground, narrowly avoiding the burning sensation as Natasha’s arcane magic struck me.

"Mom!"

I saw him rushing towards me, but Natasha redirected her magic towards him. Despite the pain in my body, I mustered the strength to jump into the air, intercepting the arcane attack. A groan escaped my lips as the pain overwhelmed me once more.

"No!" Samael’s panicked voice echoed in my ears.

I looked at him, still in his place, looking at me. Using my eyes, I silently signaled him to stay back. He shook his head, ready to defy my wishes and come closer. But before he could take another step, Masha pulled him away, shielding him from being hit by the battling wolves.

A scream tore from my throat as Natasha ruthlessly stomped on my stomach. Fuck! This woman was truly getting on my nerves.

"Too much love will kill you, Luna."

"Well, too much love will make you crazy, bitch," I said, my voice weak but defiant.

"You first–"

Before she could finish her sentence, a large wolf lunged at her and threw her away.

"Are you okay, honey?"

I couldn’t help but respond with a sarcastic remark. "Do I look okay?"

Damien chuckled, helping me to my feet with a gentle bite on the back of my neck. It wasn’t painful.

"Are you done with Axel?"

"He escaped. They’re retreating because Ryder has arrived," he said.

I scanned my surroundings, and I could see some rogues fleeing. But they were chased by pack warriors and other vampires led by Ryder.

"Why is Samael here?" I asked in irritation.

Damien shrugged. "I’m not sure. I just saw him when he shouted. Maybe he escaped and decided to help. He seems fine fighting for himself."

Letting out a sigh, I made up my mind. "Let’s go."

I was about to leave to check on Samael and see if he was alright, but events unfolded rapidly and unexpectedly. First, I heard Natasha’s voice cut through the chaos.

"I won’t let you have a happy ever after."

Second, she conjured another bow and arrow, her magic fueling her attack. Third, she released it towards my direction. With the speed of events, for some unknown reason, I was frozen in place. It was too late for me to snap out of it and dodge.

"Mom!"

I thought it was going to hit me, but the next event made my heart drop. Fourth, to my horror, the arrow was intercepted by Damien’s wolf form, and he fell to the ground. He looked me in the eyes and I saw his eyes turn white.

"No!" I screamed.

I was about to shift back into my human form to save Damien, but Natasha wasn’t done yet. I hadn’t anticipated another attack from her.

"Live in your nightmare, Amara."

Another excruciating pain engulfed me, causing me to crumple to the ground. Now, two wolves lay on the cold ground — my husband, who appeared lifeless, and myself, who stared helplessly at him, tears streaming down my cheeks. My heart felt heavy and burdened, making each breath a struggle. I refused to close my eyes, fearing that doing so would mean losing him forever. I fixated on his motionless form until exhaustion overcame me, and my own eyes gave up on me.

And as Natasha had said, little did I know that my consciousness would awaken in a different dimensional loop. It felt like a dream, but there was no future. Instead, it was like a series of moments where I witnessed my parents die all over again, and my past life with four familiar faces. Memories that had long been buried after the demise of a girl named ’Hazona’ and the Moon Goddess’ wrath.
