Chapter 30 CHAPTER 30
Chapter 30 CHAPTER 30
SERA'S POV
I stared at the closed door, loud noises and grunts reaching my ears. “Come on,” Althea tugged. “Let's go.”
I allowed her to pull me away, the sounds drifting away. “Don't you think I should go help?” I asked. “My blood helped before, made him sane.”
Althea shook her head. “There's a reason Dante closed the door.”
True but I could help.
“Caspian has relapsed and as much as we have loved him being sane, this should just make you work harder, Sera. Right now, he could be more dangerous than usual and I don't think any of the kings will be able to save you from him again.”
We got to the courtyard. “Okay, let's begin.”
I sat down on the sand,in the meditation pose. “I want you to take very slow deep breaths. Allow yourself to feel the air rush into your nose, slowly and when it has gone round, exhale it slowly out of you. Feel the power flowing through your veins.”
I closed my eyes, remembering Dante’s advice. My power has to flow like air, like it belonged to me, in me. Forcing it wouldn't help. I repeat the words in my head, slowly inhaling and exhaling.
The wind picked up around me, brushing my skin harshly. I smiled, a garden of roses blooming in my mind at my command, excitement spilling from all my orifices.
Finally, Finally, I was doing it.
“Sera.”. Who was that? “Sera?”
I blinked multiple times, opening my eyes. Althea sat down opposite me, her head facing up. “I think it's about to rain?”
What?
“Did you see the roses?” I asked. “the… the roses I made bloom, did you see them?”
A sad smile stretched across her face. “That's nice. It's good you were able to feel something now. These things take time.”
“No,” I got up angrily. “this is useless,” I groaned. “I have to be broken, I cannot even do anything yet I am some sort of special woman.”
“This thing takes time,” Althea replied. “It's normal, you shouldn't berate yourself too much.”
“I followed every instruction. Every single advice and yet, it doesn't seem to work,” I cried.
All my plans are crumbling and at this point, it was all my fault. Caspian may have found Elena, and now he has relapsed. Only I could help him, yet I couldn't even control myself, much more of some power.
“I think you should go to your room to continue training.”
“I think not,” I hissed. “I am done sitting down idly, doing nothing, just sucking in deep breaths without any sign of improvement,” I hissed, storming away.
All I could see was red, nothing else. I stormed down the hallway, tears falling as I wiped them furiously, not seeing anything till I collided with someone.
The first thing I smelt was frost. A hand held me, steadying me. “What's going on?”
His hands were very cold, but his tone was not. I blinked, looking up into his blue eyes, my anger dying slowly.
“Nothing,” I hissed, yanking my hand away from his touch. “Its not even like you care.”
I brushed past him, continuing down the hallway to my room. My hand felt hot as I touched it, rubbing the spot that he held. Why did he touch me and suddenly, all my anger and everything seemed to go away immediately and why did I hate that?
I slammed my door open, entering my room and slamming the door behind me. There was a shocked gasp, that came from a person standing in my room, by my bed and I stared at her with fear, my heart racing.
“Ivana,” I said. “did I scare you? I am so sorry.”
Her face returned back to its cold gaze, her eyes dropping low. “I am so sorry my lady, I came to drop off your dress for the ball.”
Oh. I saw the bag she placed on the bed. “Thank you.”
She bowed slightly and started walking to leave.
“Ivana?”
“Yes, my Lady?” she asked stopping
“You know you don't have to call me that?” I sighed. “I'm just like you. Plus,” I turned back to my room, “it's so boring here. I am alone and it's about to rain. Would you be interested in maybe keeping company with me?”
Ivana does not turn. “I think you should enjoy this now.”
“What?” I squeaked.
“I think you should enjoy this now,” she replied. “The boredom, your room. Life is very short, for people like you and you should not waste it doing demeaning chores.”
She walked away, closing my door behind her. I stared at where she was,my mind whirling from her insults.
Was that an insult, or…did Ivana just send me a warning?
