Chapter 25 CHAPTER 25
Chapter 25 CHAPTER 25
SERA'S POV
I slammed the door shut and locked it, my back resting on it as the shirt finally fell to tatters on the ground.
Running all the way from the North wing to the neutral grounds was not something I thought I would ever do, yet, as I clutched my shirt, I prayed tk the goddess that I would not see a single soul in the way, and she answered.
My entire body was trembling from adrenaline, blood rushing to my head as I rested it against the wooden door, trying to suck in little gulps of air.
Everything flooded me at once. Shame, Disgust, all the rage I had felt before his teeth sunk into me.
Lucian’s cold has nothing to do with the ice.
No, this was his real curse. He felt hollow inside, devoid of every emotion and as he sucked my blood, he took all my emotions into his bottomless pool, quenching them and now, reality was kicking me back.
How did he exist like this? So empty? It was a sorry, sorry excuse of a life, yet he acted like it was completely normal to him.
No.
This was the same man that killed a human. Quite easily too. Wren’s blood splattering on the wall flashed across my mind, and just like that, I felt nothing for Lucian.
I pushed myself upright and walked slowly into my bathroom. The bathroom sink was cold as I rested my palms on it, turning the tap on and splashing cold water on my face.
When I was calm, I lifted my head up, staring at my face. Just minutes with one of them, and I lost sight of the bigger picture again.
I slapped myself across the face. Then again.
“Listen to me, Sera,” I hissed. “You are not here to be melting over hot vampires. You are here to find a way to get your sister back, and then kill all of them.”
I stared at the girl in the mirror and she agreed with me. No more distractions, no allowing them to touch me in those kinds of ways.
I grabbed a towel, wiping my face as I walked into my bedroom. The bed screamed my name, my neck finally starting to hurt from Lucian’s bite. As I pulled the towel away to keep, a small hint of blood stares at me
Elena. Mum. Dad.
Their images flash through my mind, the day they died, how cruel and wicked it was. Their blood stained my feet as I chased after the big man, begging him to give me my sister back.
I grabbed a shirt, pulling it on as I ran out of my room. My legs don't stop, tears falling from me, sobs breaking me with every step as I chased after him, begging for the only part of me that was alive to be given back.
My legs grew weak after a while and I slowed, settling into a brisk walk. I could not run away from my problems, no matter how hard I tried, that day would never leave me.
I wiped my face, looking for the nearest turn. I continued walking down the hallways, looking for the one that led to my room.
A small pink and white flowerpot was on the ground. I stopped and stared at it. There was nothing in the hallways leading to the neutral wing, and I was certain I had seen this before.
I turned around slowly, finally noticing that the castle was dark, way too dark in the afternoon. This place was very unfamiliar. Somehow, in my pain, I wandered to where I could not recognize.
Someone laughed softly down the hallway. I followed the voice, recognizing it a bit and sure enough, at the end, Caspian and Felix stood next to each other.
“Felix,” I called.
Both men turned to me immediately. Felix’s eyes widened as I approached them while Caspian’s narrowed.
“Sera,” he raised a brow. “What are you doing this far into the East Wing?”
This was the east? “I was looking for Morgause and I got lost,” the lie slipped from me easily. “I did not even realize, when I had crossed into another wing.”
Caspian nodded. “How are you doing?” he asked.
“I am fine,” I replied, noticing his soft expression. “I think, well I am as fine as I can be.”
Felix was unusually quiet, standing next to him. His face was stoic, even as he offered me a polite smile, then he looked at the ground.
“The neutral grounds are to your left down this hallway,” Caspian instructed, pointing at the correct way for me. “You must have taken a wrong turn somewhere, it can happen.”
“Thank you so much.”
He smiled at me. “Well, I have court matters to attend to now,” he said, giving me a slight nod. He started leaving, Felix moving alongside him.
“Wait.”
Caspian paused. “Is there something wrong?”
Should I do this? “I know it's not my place to ask for something, but I need your help.”
“Sure,” his lips curved. “Is it related to the ball?”
“No,” I replied. I was about to make either the most foolish decision ever or not.
“Do you know if sellers kept a registry for humans they sell to vampires?” I hesitated. “Like a record, showing which vampire family purchased a particular slave?”
Caspian tilted his head. “Why?”
“I have someone very important to me,” I replied honestly. “they are missing.”
“A lover,” Caspian scoffed. I rolled my eyes internally. How arrogant were these men, like yeah, I would be going around looking for a lover.
“No, it's not,” I replied. “It's actually,” I looked down, my voice softer, "it's actually my family.”
“Oh.”
“Yes, so I was wondering if there was anything like that.”
“What is the name?” Caspian asked.
“Elena,” I replied.
He nodded. “I will look into it personally, now go back, before everyone thinks you're missing.”
“Thank you,” I said, bowing lightly. Felix stared at me, his frowning even as Caspian walked further from him.
“Felix?”
He stood there, and Caspian turned back. “Felix,” he boomed, calling the man.
I watched my friend hesitate, then turn, answering to his king. The both of them walked away together, and he did not look back once.
Why was he acting so weird? I looked at Caspian. He was so kind, yet why did Felix act like he would be in trouble for speaking to me.
Ugh, I'm getting distracted again. It was a good thing Caspian had agreed to help me, finally a step towards finding my sister. I walked in the direction he gave me, but I knew where I was going to know.
I needed to know how to hurt them, and there was only one place I could read about their history.
Even though it was covered with lies and rot.
