Epilogue — Reed — Six Months Later
“Come on, honey. We’re gonna be late."
Reed checked his reflection one last time and patted his hair into place. "Coming…"
It was Reed’s twenty-eighth birthday and as he descended down the stairs, he saw Logan pacing the floor in the front room. He’d been kind of jumpy all day, but Reed figured it was because he had a lot on his plate.
They’d both been incredibly busy as of late—Logan with his new bike shop, and Reed with his new collection, which had taken the world by storm. It was his biggest success to date.
Reed stopped and watched him for a moment and even six months later, his breath still hitched at the sight of him. Logan wore his hair a little longer now, styled in that perfect mess that he’d grown to love, and with his custom shirt and black jeans, he looked like he belonged in a Bond movie—sexy, sharp and dangerous. Looking up, his blue eyes locked with Reed’s and he stopped pacing, running his eyes over him. Reed’s heart began to thump. Logan made him feel incredibly loved, worshipped and desired. I’m the luckiest man in the world.
Logan released a low whistle. “Wow. You look amazing.”
Reed smiled and gave him a little twirl. He was wearing the same type of jeans that Logan had on, but he had on a bright red shirt instead, which made him look sexy and playful. He walked over to Logan and wrapped his arms around him, pecking him on his lips. “Thank you. So do you.”
Logan groaned against his mouth, deepening the kiss. As he pulled away, he looked into Reed's eyes, his bulge rubbing against Reed’s. “You better stop now or we're gonna be missing your birthday dinner…”
Reed laughed and purposely rubbed himself a little harder against Logan. “I have no problem with that…”
"You're so wanton,” Logan growled. He gently pulled away and kissed the tip of Reed’s nose. “Later, I promise. Let's go.”
Reed was ridiculously happy.
Every time Reed thought about that fateful night in the tent, his heart constricted in pain and he became tearful. He couldn't bear the thought that Logan almost lost his life for him.
Preston was awaiting trial for attempted murder.
After a few days in the hospital, Logan was safe to leave and they holed themselves away for a week, as they tried to come to terms with what had happened.
When they finally came back to the City, Logan immediately moved in with Reed, at his insistence. Initially, Logan had thought he would get his own place but neither of them could stand being apart from each other.
Reed still kept in regular contact with the girls and Kellen. All were deeply shocked by Preston and he was so glad for their support. Kellen took it the hardest, feeling guilty that he never saw the signs, but they all reassured him that Preston never gave anything away.
They reached the restaurant and Logan took Reed’s hand, leading him to the back to the private rooms. While they were outside, he held open the door and Reed walked into the darkened room.
"Surprise!"
Reed’s hand flew to his mouth and the lights came on to reveal all of their loved ones and friends standing in front of them: Reed’s parents, Marie and Kellen, Michael Barnes, and some of their other close friends from work.
Reed spun around to Logan, his eyes filling with tears, but found him down on one knee. Gasping out loud, Reed’s eyes flared and went back and forth between Logan’s face and the ring he was holding. Logan was grinning from ear to ear.
“Reed Luxe. You're the most amazing man I've ever met, both inside and out. You brought me back to life, when I thought I had nothing left.” His eyes misted over. “You complete me and I'm grateful every single day for fate intervening and bringing us together.” He took a deep breath. “I want to have a future with you, have kids together one day, and make you the happiest man on earth. I want to give you the world and I promise to always do right by you. I love you, Reed. Will you be mine forever?"
Reed removed his hand from his mouth and shouted, “Yes!” as all their friends and family broke out into screams and thunderous applause. Logan stood up and faced him, and wiped his thumb gently over Reed’s cheeks which were wet with tears.
"I love you so much, Logan. I don't know what I’ve done to get so lucky. I promise to cherish you forever.”
Logan pulled Reed against him and brought his mouth down, kissing him with so much passion that after a few seconds, George called out from the background, telling them to stop. They laughed and broke away, their eyes fixed on each other.
Everything in Reed’s world had fallen into place. He was so happy, he thought his heart would explode with his love for this man.
He couldn't wait to begin their life together.
