Chapter 22 — Reed

The day seemed to drag on and Reed was filled with anticipation for the night ahead. Reed didn't see Logan for the rest of the day, as he spent it with his mom in the kitchen, learning new recipes. He doubted very much that he would practice the recipes once he was back home, but he humored her anyway.

"So, how are things going with Logan?” Susan slammed the oven door shut and set the timer.

Reed turned away, feeling his face heat up under her scrutiny and he ran his fingers over the counter. "Honestly? I couldn't wish for more.” He couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face as he thought about his man. My man. “I know it's really early, but we just seem to click together really well even though we’ve got totally different interests.”

Susan leaned against the countertop and crossed her arms, smiling. “Well, you know what they say. Opposites attract. To be honest, I knew straightaway when you guys arrived a few weeks ago that you’d be good for each other. I think I knew even before the two of you did.”

Reed laughed. “I’m glad you approve.”

“Both your father and I are very happy to see you with such an amazing guy. I hope you guys settle down and continue this relationship once you're back in the City."

Reed’s lips flattened. "Of course I am, Mom. Just because I'm going back to my life doesn't mean that I won’t have room for Logan."

Susan uncrossed her arms and grabbed a sponge from the sink, wiping the top of the cooker. "I'm just saying that on the surface you guys are very different. Just go easy on him, once you get back to the City. I'm sure he's not used to the life you lead and it may take some adjusting. You’ll need to work with each other on that.”

“I understand, Mom. I'm determined to make this relationship work." He rolled his eyes. "God knows, good men are hard to find."

"Amen." Susan laughed and tossed the sponge back into the sink.

“Speaking of the City, I’m afraid it’s time for me to go back, Mom.”

Susan froze and her face fell, visibly disappointed at the news. “Already? When?”

“Logan and Kellen spoke earlier. As my stalker seems to have gone dark, they think it’s okay to return after the weekend.”

“And you’ll be safe there?”

Reed nodded. “Yeah, I’ll have Logan by my side either way.” He giggled. “Just not as my official bodyguard on my payroll, since our relationship has transitioned.”

Susan smiled, though she still looked worried. “Okay, well, as long as the boys have you covered, I understand.” She opened her arms. “I’m going to miss you so much. Both of you.”

Reed crossed the kitchen and took his mom into his arms. “You and Dad will have to come visit me soon. And try out some of the new clothing I’m designing.”

Susan patted his back and pulled away. “Sure, but it won’t be until close to Christmas when we’ll get a chance to visit.”

“Perfect. Think of all that Christmas shopping you can do.” Reed attempted to lighten the mood and she gave him a small smile.

“So, what are your plans this weekend with Marie and Preston?"

Pleased with the change of subject, Reed shrugged and shook his head. "I'm not sure. I can’t wait to see them, though. We’ll probably just hang out here if that’s okay, since we don't have any firm plans. Preston said he liked the idea of pitching a tent outside, with an evening campfire, if that’s cool? Seems like he wanted a little trip down memory lane.”

“Of course. That sounds fun and I can’t wait to see them either.”

Reed did his best to act normal at dinner as he sat opposite Logan. He knew tonight was going to be a big night for both of them and the last thing he wanted was for either of them to be filled with nerves. Still, he found that he couldn’t finish his meal as the butterflies in his stomach were making him feel slightly queasy.

They watched television with Susan and George afterwards and Reed sighed with relief when George began to yawn. After the third successive yawn, he stood up. Susan was dozing off, so he lightly shook her and took her hand.

“Sorry, guys, we’re gonna retire for the night. Goodnight, boys.”

“Night, George, Night Dad,” they replied in unison.

Reed and Logan watched them depart and then they turned to face each other, identical grins on their faces.

“Today has been the longest day of my life.” Reed pressed his head back against the couch.

Logan ran a hand over Reed’s forehead, smoothing away his hair. “Me too. I couldn’t stop thinking about you.” He leaned closer and kissed Reed. His lips were like pillows and the kiss was soft and sensual. Reed immediately felt his cock respond and harden in his pants.

“You sure you want to do this?” It pained Reed to ask the question but he wanted Logan to be one hundred percent sure.

“More than anything.”

Reed released the breath he didn’t know he was holding. “Thank God.” He smiled and looked over his shoulder. “I’m pretty sure they should be in bed shortly. I’ve already packed some blankets and a few flashlights in my backpack—I’ll go grab it.”

Logan nodded, biting his lip. He looked nervous, which was perfectly understandable but his eyes were filled with lust.

Reed stood and almost yelped when Logan swatted his backside. “Hurry the fuck up.”

They made their way outside in the dark, the only light coming from their flashlights.

Reed led the way inside the barn, winding his way to the back where they were earlier this afternoon. Once there, Logan positioned the flashlights as Reed dug into his backpack and opened the blankets, first doubling them up for extra padding and then spreading it across the straw-lined floor. Logan lowered the flashlights so that they weren't facing them, but instead provided a nice glow of light. The big bales of hay shielded them, offering them privacy and no one would guess they were inside.

"Is it okay here?" Reed wanted it to be perfect for Logan's first time and would have rather been at his home back in the City for the comfort factor, but in a way, this felt authentic. The ranch was where they had found their love for each other and tonight would seal that physically.

“This is perfect." Logan kneeled on the blanket and crossed his way over to Reed. He cupped Reed’s face in his hand and they began to kiss, this time passionately and fiercely. Before long, Reed pulled away, craving for skin-on-skin contact. He tugged at Logan’s t-shirt and pulled at his belt. As they were so desperate for each other, their moves were clumsy and laughing. They shifted apart, each quickly discarding their own set of clothes.

And then, in the dim glow of the lights, they were gloriously naked together. Facing each other, Reed looked down at Logan's thick cock which was hard and begging to be licked. Not able to resist, he bent down and gave him a kiss on the tip of his cock. Logan hissed in response, closing his eyes. When he opened them, he ran his hands all over Reed’s body, like he was feasting on him, as if he couldn't get enough.

“Reed, I've been so ready for this. I need more tonight.” He kissed his way down Reed’s chest until he reached his stomach. Reed shifted his position and stretched his legs out, leaning back on his elbows. Logan continued his trail of kisses, and Reed inhaled sharply at how close Logan's mouth was to his cock. He closed his eyes and hung his head back as finally, Logan's mouth licked down his shaft, and then he took his cock into his mouth. Reed knew he wouldn’t last long. Every fiber of his being was on fire for this man.

"Have you been tested?" Reed asked.

"Yeah, just recently. I haven't been with anyone for a very long time but even then, I used protection. You?”

“Yes, negative."

“Same," Logan answered.

Reed was pleased to hear that. Normally, he was cautious and would always use protection but tonight, with Logan, he didn’t want any barriers between them. And he fully trusted him.

He sighed in pleasure as Logan pressed his finger between Reed’s balls and ass, as he’d done to Logan the other day. Right now, his control was shredding and if he didn’t stop, he knew he’d come soon.

Reluctantly, he reached down and pulled Logan’s face off him. “You’re too good. I’m gonna come if you keep that up and I’m not ready to do that yet. Come here.”
