When I get to my room, I throw myself on the bed, and I try to cry myself to sleep, but I just cry and I don't feel sleepy.
I get out of bed, to go to THC club again and guilt envelopes me.
When I get out of the cab, I stand at the gate as I contemplate going in.
This is the club that sells limbicus, the drug that killed my brother, but it is the only club that sells alcohol that can make me sleep for days. I decide that I'm going to drink one glass and rush to my dorm room to sleep afterward.
“Don’t you dare even think about going in there!” I wince at the sound of the authoritative voice behind me.
I turn, even though I know who it is.
“You are not my dad, or my brother, or whatever you think you are.” I want to walk in, but I get rooted on the spot.
“What are you doing here?” Dr. Brown folds his arms, ignoring my dramatic speech .
“I'm doing what everyone does, obviously drinking. Are you stalking me again? You creep. You are my boss, for goodness’ sake.”
He smirks, amused by my anger.
“I’m going to go to the police for a restraining order.” I add.
He sighs in response.
“You try to ruin my chance to get wasted, every time. You have lived your life. Leave me alone.” I walk away from the gate of the club.
“I want you to live your life the right way.” He follows me.
"Just like you?" I say sarcastically, as I chuckle.
“No, I have made mistakes before.”
“You call me going to the club a mistake? Oh, no! That’s where you are mistaken. That wasn’t a mistake. I wanted to go there. Also...”
“Do you have any idea what I rescued you from?” He purses his lips.
“Thank you for being my knight in shining armour. Do you want your name on the world records?”
“Just go to your place.” He exhales.
“I don’t wanna go to my place.”
“We are going.” He pulls me by my wrist and he walks fast.
I run a little to catch up with him. “What’s your problem? I’m going to scream.”
“Ok.” He continues to pull me by my wrist.
I open my mouth, but I quietly follow him to his car.
“Please don't go in there.” He says when we stand next to his car.
“Why are you like this? I’m going back, and I'm going to walk in this time. You can’t stop me.”
He knits his eyebrows.
“Do you want your drink to be spiked again?" He snaps. Then, instantly seems to regret telling me.
Someone spiked my drink?” My jaw drops. "With what?"
He breaks eye contact and shifts uncomfortably.
"Doctor Brown?"
"No, just call me Leo. That is my name."
"Leo? Meaning lion? It's a beautiful name."
"You are not going to try to flatter me and succeed. Let's go." He opens the door of the car and motions for me to get in.
I get in without arguing.
"Smart choice. I was going to chase you if you tried to run away."
I roll my eyes while I fasten my seatbelt.
"You saw what happened on campus?" I ask him when the car drives off.
"Saw what?" He asks nonchalantly.
"Don't act like you didn't see me with Liam and the other woman."
"I did." He admits.
"Are you happy?"
"Why should I be happy?" He glances at me.
"I chose you over him at the hospital."
He shrugs in response, his face not showing any emotions.
"I never do it on purpose. I don't want to, but I always choose him."
"I don't understand."
"I want to let him go, and to defy him, but no matter what he does, I struggle to let him go."
He nods casually.
"We can go to my place if you need some distraction.” He suggests.
"Is that a good idea?" I ask him, thinking about our kiss.
"It's a better idea than that club."
We get out of the car at the Onni South Lake Union building, and my mouth widens when I look around the fancy bulding.
"Which episode were we watching in that vampire movie?" He asks as he opens the door.
"And the main character turns out to be one of your students." I squeal.
"Your crush." He smirks.
"And you just couldn't let me be his shoulder to cry on."
"I can still speak to him for you if you like." He beams.
"Really?" I squeal again to tease him.
"No." He says decidedly.
I pout, and he chuckles.
We walk into his fancy kitchen. He takes off his jacket and folds the sleeves of his shirt, and my heart flutters. How can a person be this handsome?
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" He looks at me suspiciously.
"No reason." I say abruptly.
"If you say so. Take a seat and let me make you some snacks." He motions towards the bar stool in the kitchen.
We later sit on his couch with a snack platter in front of us, and we continue with the series.
He puts his arm around me and I feel the magnetic pull between us. I a deep breath, as I try to focus on the series, instead of him.
My phone rings, and just as expected, Liam's name flashes on the screen.
I glance at him, and he shrugs, then he diverts his attention back to the series.
I press the red button, then I put my phone on flight mode.
"For my inner peace." I explain, as if he cares about my explanation.
"That's very smart of you," he smiles.
"Do you think I'm an idiot?"
"What do you mean? I have just called you smart."
"Do you think I'm an idiot for dating Liam, even though he is married?"
"No, I know exactly how you feel. You are much stronger than I am."
"Have you been in my position?" I gaze at him. The shock on my face is probably visible.
"Something like that." He says while he laughs, his dimple making me melt like butter in the sun.
"Thank you for not judging me," I smile.
He nods.
I stare at him while I try to imagine who could ever make someone as hot as him feel unrequited love.
I blink when I realize that I have been staring at him, and he has been staring back. I give in to our magnetic pull towards each other, and we lose ourselves in our kiss. The TV becomes a background noise that I don't mind ignoring.
He puts his hand under my dress and slides it all the way to my bra. An involuntary moan escapes my lips.
The knock on the door puts our kiss to a stop.
He gets up to open the door, and I hear Liam's voice on the other side.
"Let me get in and get my girlfriend." Liam's voice says.
"Your girlfriend. Who is your girlfriend?" Leo responds.
"You know who. I know she is in here."
I hear the door closing and muffled voices. I get up and rush to the door in case they are fighting.
I open the door, then Leo and Liam both turn and look in my direction.
"Babe, let's go," Liam says as if I'm a robot that is made to obey orders.
"No, Liam, I'm tired of this!"
"Are you breaking up with me?" He raises an eyebrow.
I break eye contact and focus on the floor. The words getting stuck in my throat.
"Not yet? That gives me hope." He smirks. "Can we go?"
"No, I'm not going anywhere with you. I didn't come with you here. I'm taking a cab." I walk past both of them.
When I'm outside, I turn around , and I glance at them. "You guys are not going to use me for whatever feud you are having."
