I use my snout to point at the end of the forest, showing Willow that she should leave, and she eyes me with doubt written on her face.
I point again and she glances at Poseidon, Alpha Hunter's wolf, and her heart beats fifty times louder than before.
She takes one step forward. The alpha growls and takes a threatening step towards her, while baring his sharp teeth. This causes her to take five steps back, then she runs further into the forest.
Fuck! How am I going to fight for myself and protect her at the same time?
Alpha follows her, taking slow, menacing steps. She looks back once, then she continues to run.
By the time we reach her, we find her climbing a tree. My dad lets out a satisfied groan as he looks up at her, the glint in his eyes making my stomach churn.
‘Only if she knew that we could turn into humans and climb trees as well.’
‘Are you my real father?' I glare at him.
‘I wish I wasn’t.’ He retorts.
‘I thought as much. You think I’m in love with a girl, and you torture her, because she is human? ' I ask him. Although I know I’m not in love with her.
‘No.’ He says dryly.
‘So, you want to hurt her, because you want to hurt me?'
‘I told you to stop being weak. I’m doing you a favour. It’s not personal.’
‘Should I thank you for this?'
Alpha’s ears perk up, and he sniffs the ground. My nose also automatically sniffs as the scents of the other wolves get stronger. Then I look up at Willow, who is looking down at us. Watching with curious eyes.
I turn and glance at Alpha Hunter, his eyes still glowing with delight. He doesn’t have to say it, but he knows they have won.
I run further into the forest, hoping that the wolves would follow me, and Willow would have a chance to escape.
“Don’t go!” Willow shouts, but I ignore her plea.
As expected, the alpha snd other wolves runs behind me with a speed of lightning, but he signals at least four wolves to stay behind.
The wolves pass me by and I don’t feel worried, but my fear for Willow’s life grips on me when I see Lucy’s wolf also heading towards the tree where Willow is.
‘This is the best part. I don’t have to hide our plans from you, because you can’t tell her. You probably wish she was a wolf, and you could communicate with her.’ My father sends a mind-link.
I snarl at him, and I try to claw his belly, but he bites my left shoulder, and I move back, looking at the blood that runs all the way to my foreleg.
I limp, and take a few steps back to recover. He charges towards me, and I run from him.
We run in a circle until I have access to his tail, and I bite on it. He lets out a rumble, trying to escape, making me want to sink my teeth deeper.
‘This is our alpha. This is your dad.’ Thales, my wolf reminds me.
‘I don’t care,’ I respond internally.
I suddenly feel a jab on my rib, then the pain spreads through my entire body. Making me lose my hold on alpha’s tail. I end up growling because it hurts, but I want to avoid whimpering like a baby at all costs.
When get up and notice that it is Liam, I hiss at him, and he takes a few steps back. I charge towards him, completely ignoring the pain on my belly and my leg, and he takes more steps back.
The other wolves surround me, and I use my intimidating posture to instil fear in them before aiming for Liam’s ribs.
We fight for some time before the other wolves join in and attack me. I feel pain on every part of my body as each wolf tries to ensure that I don't have time to recover.
‘Stand down!’ Alpha Hunter commands.
The wolves back up, and I try to look at them, but all their images get blurry, and I see my father walking towards me.
‘I’m sorry, Willow.’ I say internally, then my legs feel weak before making me tumble to the ground, and everything goes blank.
