Chapter 105: words

Grace’s pov

What are the odds? That the people I have been looking for would find me instead.

I looked at them and I couldn’t even believe that I managed to recognize them.

I only saw them briefly I Reene’s truth, I only got a glimpse of them in that mirror.

But I honestly didn’t think that I could recognize them if I met them.

I guess I am a copy of my mother because she recognized me from behind without seeing my face.

Huh, it been 20 years but they somehow all looked the same.

Werewolf genes really are crazy good because these people were aging like fine wine.

So, I took a risk when I saw them, I called them grandma and aunt Meghan.

They seemed just as happy as I was when they saw me. it took us some time to calm down and stop crying.

“you have grown into a beautiful young woman” my grandmother said.

I just smiled at her words while my aunt Meghan just kept looking at me.

“it’s like I am looking at Reene, thank you. Thank you for showing up when you did” she said, and I smiled.

“I am gladder that you called out to me. I have been finding ways to get in contact for a week now” I said, and they looked at each other.

“I am really sorry about that. We had to isolate ourselves to protect the pack and my family” my grandmother said, and I nodded.

They actually looked like an older version amid-aged-aged version of my mother.

They both look truly beautiful in my eyes, and everything felt like a dream. There is a saying that its always the darkest before dawn.

I won’t lie, the past two years of my life were really a very dark time in my life.

But now I see it, the sun and all its warmth slowly rising, and I can finally feel joy.

It is as if someone untied a curse that was cast upon me.

and now looking at them and after knowing my mother’s truth I know I wasn’t the only one.

So many people have suffered because of one person, she is the curse and no one else.

I still can’t believe that such people exist in the world we live in or even understand why they exist.

“let’s go home” my grandmother said, and I nodded and followed them into a car.

They kept asking so many questions about me and I tried answering them the best I could.

When she asked about her daughter I just looked down and she nodded.

“just tell us the full story when we get home. Your grandfather would also like to know what happened to her and your story” my grandmother said.

Home, I don’t know why but that one word really warmed up my heart.

I understood the importance of words when I was a teenager.

It was when a classmate said that love is nothing but just a word and it holds no importance.

Another girl asked him a very important question, that if love is just a word then why does it hurt when it’s not there?

If love is just a word then why is the absence of love so painful?

That was the most mature and eye-opening question any of my classmates ever asked.

And now that I am here I understand that nothing is really just a word.

Warmth has more depth to it than just being a word.

And so does the word home, it’s a shelter for your heart and your soul.

That is what I believe home is, and now I have a home just like my mother used to when growing up.

When I got there I can’t tell how many hugs I got and the people that cried when they saw me.

“we will hold a large party to welcome the first granddaughter” my grandfather said with a big smile.

They really are humble people, and I could tell that they wanted to celebrate my return first.

They obviously were trying to prolong hearing the story of what happened to their daughter.

After dinner, we played some games to get to know each other Aunt Meghan spoke up.

“if you are ready to tell us, please do. What happened?” she asked me.

I nodded and I didn’t even know where to start or how to even explain it.

but now it was easier because I knew both sides of the story.

I knew that all that time my mother loved me, the gestures she made that hardly noticed I could understand now.

That in her own way she loved me, it doesn’t change the past, but it makes me sleep better at night.

After I told them what I know happened they were furious.

“that bitch has to pay for destroying my daughter and granddaughter’s lives. We are going to get this started very soon” my grandmother said, and I looked at them confused.

“get what started?” I asked and they explained to me what they planned on doing.

Which can actually work hand in hand with what Hendricks and I were planning.

But we didn’t spend the last 2 decades searching dirt on her, so we don’t have much.

With what the Vampire King says he has and with what they have we can bury her alive.

I know she is someone powerful, but we managed to somehow also dishearten someone who works for her.

If she gets betrayed by the person who works for her and can even testify then all would be good.

When I told them my plan they were on board, and we spent the rest of the night just talking.

My mother was loved in her pack, she would have made a great leader of her pack.

After that I would have taken over, would have had to decide between being a Luna or leader of a coven.

The more I see this life I could have had, the life that woman took away from me the angrier I become.

She didn’t just ruin my future; she changed my dreams and changed the person I became.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate who I am now, but I know I wouldn’t have hated who I would have been if I stayed with these people.

Obviously, now I understand where I got this kind-hearted nature from.

People like me weren’t really meant to have a hard life because of our very gentle nature.

It made things a little harder to have the kind of empathy that I have but I took after my mother.

I guess it one thing that I feel connects me to her even more.

This week we will end everything and make Cara pay.

Every sin must be paid in full; a lot of people are now coming after her.

She has no escape at all this time, my family is even more determined than anything.

They didn’t get to see me growing up and Reene went through a lot raising me alone.

So, after hearing the story I had to tell them they were honestly furious.

After some time, they took my upstairs to my mother’s old room.

I did tell you that she had great taste so looking around I couldn’t help but smile.

It is somehow my mother’s taste but this one has more humanity to it than her old room.

Same style but more warmth and it felt like I was seeing a whole side of her I didn’t know.

“she was really good in interior designs” Aunt Meghan said, and I nodded.

“sleep well, the sheets are clean. We wash them every week, I didn’t know why but now we do. Make yourself at home” she said before leaving.

I just fell on the bed, and it was so comfortable, and I looked around.

They still had her clothes in her closet, her scent was all over them.

It felt really comforting that I took a shirt and wore it.

I couldn’t help but start crying at that moment.

I was just so happy to be here, my home, this is what home feels like isn’t it?

its more than the feeling I felt as Joseph’s house back then.

“Grace, why are you crying?” I heard an annoying voice.

“I forgot you were still here” I said and heard Hendricks chuckle a bit on the other side.

I didn’t want to tell him now;

I will tell him maybe after I tell Harper and Derek.

But now I had a really important question for him.

“who is the mole? And you better tell me the truth. You are the one that mind linked me to begin with” I said and there was silence.

“what mole?” he asked and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at this.
