Coldness and silence lingered in the luxurious Royal Study. Not only because the servants sensed the Emperor's bad mood, but also because the Royal Study was usually very solemn.
"Go and investigate the incident on the birthday banquet immediately. I can’t believe that they would have done such a rebellious thing!" Dantai Xihe said coldly, with an aura of fury and authority.
It seemed that the Royal Study was immersed in a subtly different atmosphere. A eunuch came up nervously and said: "I'm afraid that it's going to take a lot of effort to look into the incident. After all, if someone was plotting against the Princess Regent, it would be difficult to find clues."
This is exactly what the Emperor was worried about. The situation must be very complicated and these people would not be so easily dug out now that they dared to frame the Princess Regent.
"It’s ok. I can give you more time for investigation, but I want the answer as soon as possible for the situation is very grave. How could the Princess Regent be set up just before my eyes!" Dantai Xihe was furious at the thought of it.
How dare these people hatch schemes in front of him, the ruler of this entire kingdom.
He was determined to show no mercy no matter who these people were, in case that they should become worse if they got away with what they had done. As the Emperor, he was also infuriated when his authority was challenged.
"I will send someone to look into it immediately. But what if we fail..." The eunuch said hesitantly. Wasn’t he going against the Emperor’s will for he dared to expect failure before the investigation even began?
Dantai Xihe gave his servants a piercing stare and said, "I’ll give you enough time. You might as well present your own heads if you can't find out the truth."
Dantai Xihe had his own idea about this incident. He couldn’t let it slide easily, for being indulgent towards their behavior would only lead to worse consequences.
Hearing this, the eunuch hurriedly knelt down, kowtowed and promised determinedly, “I will try my best to find the truth as soon as possible and prove the innocence of the Princess Regent!”
This incident must be investigated thoroughly. After all, the lives of people, especially people of the royal family, were extremely precious. The capacity of themselves should be the primary consideration of anyone who schemed to hurt people in this Royal Palace as long as the Dantai family still rules the kingdom.
The entire Royal Palace started to get busy with the incident concerning Chu Qiao, for the Emperor had warned that they would be beheaded if they couldn’t find the truth, which was the result that no one wanted.
"All the clues related to this matter have been collected, or at least that’s all we could think about in this Royal Palace. Sir, what should we do with these?" A young eunuch said to the eunuch who took the job in front of the Emperor a few days ago.
It was also hierarchical among eunuchs, whose status was determined by who they served and accordingly what they did.
"Just put these things down here. I still have some files to deal with", the eunuch said, rubbing his head tiredly. It seemed that his job for the Emperor was indeed wearing although it appeared very easy.
"Yes!" The eunuch respectfully put those on the desk, and then stepped out carefully. He was so cautious that he seemed to fear for the eunuch.
The eunuch nodded at the sight of his subordinate eunuchs being so cautious. Although there were too many things to consider when working around His Majesty, compared with his previous life, which was helpless and vulnerable, it was the most suitable for him!
Thinking about this, he subconsciously gave a fierce look at the files which piled up high, completely surrounding him.
Usually, there weren't many things that His Majesty needed them to do, so this time, he'd seize this rare opportunity to stand out on all accounts!
"It seems that some of your loose ends weren’t tied up, which led us to the clue so easily!" The eunuch laughed in a low voice when he discovered something.
It’s beyond his expectation that this was all done by Chu Jiao. It seemed that this woman was insane, for she dared to play her filthy trick in front of the Emperor and the Prince Regent.
"I’m sure that all I want is lying in these files. Check them thoroughly now!" The eunuch said in a femininely tender voice, which gave people chills. Then he casually flicked his fingers as he swung his horsetail whisk.
"Yes, sir!" Not before long people started to divide these files among them and carefully checked the various information inside. After all, these files were collected by people in the Royal Palace who always had access to the latest news.
The file the eunuch desired was soon presented on his table, and he praised this subordinate eunuchs: "Well done. You have finished the task efficiently without giving rise to other contingencies. If the case was successfully settled, I will certainly put in a good word for you in front of the Emperor!"
Hearing the eunuch’s straightforward praise, the eunuchs all knelt down and answered, "We really appreciate your favour, and will spare no effort to do anything for you and devote our lives to you!"
A slightly higher position was enough to make these little eunuchs feel frightened, leaving alone he sat in an office far higher than them. The eunuch who worked for the Emperor looked at them with satisfaction, nodded, and then took the files back to the Emperor.
Thanks to eunuchs who dealt with the massive amount of information, it didn’t take long to complete this task and get over with the case, without much pressure from the superior.
"Your Majesty, I have finished your task after painstaking efforts throughout these days!" The eunuch put what he had prepared in front of the Emperor with a flattering smile.
Dantai Xihe nodded slightly. Then he angrily threw away the files when he finished reading, "She is digging her own grave!"
