Chapter 107

A whole day passed, a whole night disappeared. But there it seemed that Jaden Gabe had no intention of talking to her.

"Hey!" She followed Criss into the mansion's garage. He was leaving. He smelled really good. She noticed that he had been busy for the past few days. Even on weekends, he didn't come home to the mansion. She didn't know which condo he was staying in Manila.

"What?" He turned around, irritated. He seemed very cold even in the scorching sun. He was wearing a polo shirt, a black

leather jacket, and leather boots! He just needed to wear gloves.

"What's going on with you guys?"

"What?" His thick eyebrows almost knitted together. She couldn't see his green eyes because they were covered by the dark shades he was wearing.

She pulled down the collar of his polo shirt. "Please answer me seriously, Criss! Just this once, please."

He just laughed and brushed off her hand that was holding onto his clothes.

"Criss, what's wrong?!"

"I'm busy. Go ask your dad." He opened the door of his expensive car with heavily tinted windows.

"You're such a jerk!" She angrily slapped the man.

"I love you, too!" He got in and soon she was being covered in dust from where she was standing.

Pearly pedaled angrily. "So annoying."

If not for Jaden Gabe, Criss was the only one she could rely on, but he wasn't very reliable either. Annoyed, she went back to the mansion. She went straight to Lander's room, hoping that the young man had already come home.

"Who are you looking for?" Lucille was in Lander's room, standing by the large window. She was barely peeking through the thick curtain, probably because, like the Vox, she was also afraid of the sun.

"I'm looking for Lander."

"He hasn't come home yet." Her eyes were sad. She wanted to ask her, but she had her own problems to face.

"I have a question, Lucille, please answer my question. Just one question."

She just looked at her.

"What is he? Jaden Gabe, who is he really?"

"He's the man I love." She replied without hesitation.

"Shit." She slapped her own forehead. She knew she wouldn't get a decent answer from this woman. She was about to leave when she suddenly spoke.

"You don't belong with him, Pearly. I know you feel the difference between you and the similarities between us, decide early. You can leave."

"I'm not leaving!" She snapped at her. She suddenly wanted to slap Lucille's innocent face.

"Okay." She shrugged.

"Stop bothering Jaden Gabe. Because no matter what he is, I love him. What about you?"

She raised an eyebrow.

"Why don't you just focus on the person who truly loves you? Instead of chasing someone who doesn't want you. Just try, maybe you'll find happiness."

"Bitch."

"Truth is a bitch." She looked at her from head to toe. This woman not only had beauty, but also knew the secrets of the Vox. But she wouldn't be defeated.

Her chest tightened as she walked towards the study room. Jaden Gabe was there, locked up. Distracting himself with countless papers from various companies owned by his family. He was hiding in the study room to avoid her.

It was obvious that he was avoiding her. And that made her even more upset.

When she reached the door of the study room, she took a deep breath. She didn't knock, she just pushed the door open.

She was met with the drowning gaze of the man who was the cause of the various emotions that were consuming her now.

It seemed like he wasn't surprised by her sudden appearance. It was as if he knew she was coming. And it seemed like he was waiting for her to arrive.

He was sitting on his leather swivel chair, his elbows resting on the clean and large mahogany desk. There were none of the countless documents she imagined on his working table. There was no

laptop or metallic pen. It seemed like he was just in the study room to avoid her.

She wanted to cry as she locked eyes with him. She could see in Jaden Gabe's eyes that he was also struggling with the situation, but why wasn't he doing anything about it?

Why was he avoiding her instead of facing her? He didn't seem like a man. Coward. He did have balls, didn't he? She saw that they were light brown.

"What are you doing here?" he asked in a soft tone.

She froze at his tone. It was as if he was speaking as if he had done nothing wrong. Anger rose in Pearly's chest. "You're really asking me that?" She didn't hide her anger in her words.

"I have a lot of work that I need to—"

"Work?" She cut him off. "What work? Counting ants on the ceiling?"

"Pearly..."

"Damn you." She ran out of his study room. She didn't pay attention to Jaden Gabe calling out to her.

This couldn't go on. She wouldn't allow everything to end like this. She wouldn't allow the true identity of Jaden Gabe to remain a mystery to her.

He was the first man she had allowed into her life. He was the man she loved. In his hands, she became a woman. And she had all the rights to know if the man she had given her heart and soul to was human! And he had promised to love her and not abandon her! It was his obligation to be honest with her.

If he really loved her, there was only one way to make him confess.

Whatever. She went up to the mansion's attic. It was on the third floor, with large windows at the top. She used to play here when she was a child, but Lander scolded her and Helios reprimanded her. It was too dangerous because it was a high part of the mansion.

She opened the dusty glass window. The view below was dizzying. There was no grass below, just a wide concrete floor leading to the

mansion's gate. It was dizzying. She made sure that the window facing the front was chosen and not the garden. She made sure it was more dangerous, higher, and there was a greater chance of getting hurt. Or dying.

Whatever.

She went out and climbed onto the mansion's roof. She balanced herself using her arms while walking to the edge. She was sweating from fear and nervousness.

She wouldn't be able to go back, she was far from the glass window. It was even more dizzying to step back there.

She took out her cell phone. She quickly dialed and answered her call. "Come out of the mansion, in front. Hurry if you still want to catch me breathing, Vox!"

In a flash, Jaden Gabe was in front of the mansion. That fast. "What the hell?!" he gaped when he saw her. "What are you doing there, Pearly?!"

He was fast. How did that happen? She shook her head. No. She wasn't going crazy. Everything that was happening was real. Jaden Gabe had an unusual ability that wasn't normal.

Jaden Gabe's eyes widened when she winked at him.

Even Pearly's eyes widened when she almost slipped down. It was a good thing she was able to steady herself. She didn't want to die. She just wanted to see and prove something. If she didn't do this, she wouldn't be able to find out the truth.

"Pearly!" Jaden Gabe shouted from below.

She trembled with fear.

Why wasn't he doing anything to save her? She couldn't stand up. She couldn't handle the pressure on her legs. Her vision was getting blurry from fear and dizziness.

"J-Jaden Gabe..." she whispered. "Save me... I'm scared..." she murmured.

In the blink of an eye, something hard hit her face. It didn't hurt, instead, she immediately felt safe. She closed her eyes tightly before starting to walk forward. Whatever. If Jaden Gabe had powers, or whatever special skills he had, he could use them to save her. That was if he chose to save her from her madness.
