Chapter 98 Her choice
Chapter 98 Her choice
THE GIRLS DORMITORY
The door clicked shut.
Twila slid down the cold wood until she reached the floor. She pulled her knees tight against her chest in the bedroom.
She raised her shaking hand in front of her face. The ring sat perfectly on her index finger, catching the dim moonlight coming through the window.
The ring was doing its job, the pull of the bond was completely gone. There was no dark magic forcing her brain to feel anything.
But as Twila sat alone in the dark, she pressed her other hand against her chest.
Her heart hammered a frantic rhythm against her ribs, her skin felt hot and flushed.
"I am screwed," Twila whispered to herself.
She let out a dry, helpless sob, burying her face in her hands.
"The magic is turned off," Twila muttered out loud. "The curse isn't pushing me toward him at all. But I still want him. I actually want the bloodsucker."
It was the most terrifying realization in the world.
She loved Raiden. She knew she loved him with all her heart. But Niles wasn't just a mistake anymore. Without the vampire venom clouding her mind, she could see him clearly. She noticed how much he really cared, she remembered his sad, lonely eyes in the medical tent, and she felt the chemistry between them.
"I am a terrible person," Twila breathed out, wiping a tear off her cheek. "I am tearing myself in half."
She forced herself to stand up from the floor.
She walked over to her bed, pulled off her shirt, and tossed it on the floor. Then she grabbed a soft, oversized grey t-shirt and pulled it over her head, ready to crawl under the covers and sleep for a week.
Knock. Knock.
Twila froze.
The knock on her door was soft.
Twila walked slowly to the door. She unlocked the lock with trembling fingers and opened the wood just a few inches.
Niles Vayne stood in the hallway.
He had changed out of his dirty clothes from the fight. He wore dark sweatpants and a t-shirt. His face still had a nasty bruise on his cheekbone where Raiden had punched him.
"What do you want, Niles?" Twila asked, keeping her voice flat and neutral.
"I just came to say goodnight," Niles whispered quietly, his eyes searching her face. "I wanted to make sure you were okay after everything that happened today."
"I am fine," Twila said coldly, gripping the edge of the door tightly so he wouldn't see her hands shaking.
Niles nodded slowly, he shoved his hands deep into his pockets, looking down at her feet.
"You have a flawless poker face, Twila," Niles murmured, his voice rough and sad. "You look at me like I am nothing to you. It’s terrifying how well you hide your feelings."
Twila didn't say anything, she just stared at him with empty eyes.
"I'll leave you alone," Niles sighed, stepping back into the corridor. "Goodnight, beautiful."
He turned his back to her, ready to walk to his room.
Twila looked at his bruised face and slumped shoulders.
Her brain screamed at her to close the door and lock it tight. But her chest ached.
She didn’t speak, she refused to voice her feelings.
But her body moved on its own.
Twila stepped into the hallway, reached out, and grabbed the back of his t-shirt, pulling him to a stop.
Niles froze instantly.
He turned his head slowly, looking back at her over his shoulder. His eyes widened in shock.
Twila didn’t say a word. She just took his hand and pulled him into her bedroom, kicking the door shut behind them.
"Twila," Niles breathed out, his chest heaving. "What are you doing?"
Twila pushed him backward until his back hit the closed door.
She cupped his face with both of her shaking hands, gently brushing her thumb over the bruise on his cheekbone.
Niles stopped breathing entirely. He looked down at her hand.
He saw the ring on her index finger.
"The ring is on, Twila," Niles whispered, his voice shaking with emotion. "The magic is blocked, the bond isn't forcing you to do this."
"I know," Twila whispered back.
She stood on her tiptoes, grabbed his hair, and kissed him hard.
Niles let out a loud, desperate groan.
He wrapped his arms tightly around her waist, pulling her against his chest, kissing her back with a passion that knocked the air out of her lungs.
It was real, and it felt incredible.
Twila moaned into his mouth, letting him sweep his tongue inside.
"You are driving me crazy," Niles growled against her lips, his hands sliding down her back to grip her tightly.
He lifted her off the floor. Twila wrapped her legs around his waist, pinning him against the door.
Niles walked her backward, gently crashing her onto the mattress. He hovered over her, his eyes dark with desire.
"Are you sure about this?" Niles panted, his chest brushing against hers. "If you don’t stop me right now, I’m never going to stop."
Twila didn't give him a verbal answer. She grabbed the hem of his t-shirt and pulled it off, tossing it aside.
Niles smiled a dark, sexy smile.
He leaned down, burying his face in the crook of her neck. He didn’t bite her, he sucked hard on her pulse point, leaving a trail of kisses down her collarbone.
"You are so beautiful," Niles muttered, pulling her t-shirt off in one smooth motion.
Twila lay there in just her panties, her chest heaving as the cool air hit her hot skin.
Niles looked down at her bare breasts, his eyes full of admiration. He leaned down, his mouth closing over her right nipple.
Twila gasped, arching her back off the mattress.
He sucked her nipple hard, swirling his tongue over the center. His teeth gently scraped the nipple, sending jolts of electricity down to her stomach.
"Fuck, Niles," Twila whimpered, her fingers tangling in his hair, holding his face where she wanted it.
He moved to her other breast, licking and biting until it ached for more.
His hand slid down her stomach, dipping beneath the edge of her panties.
"You are drenched for me," Niles groaned, pressing his fingers against her soaked core. "And this time, it’s real."
"Just touch me," Twila begged, her face flushed, grinding her hips against his hand.
Niles smirked, pushing two fingers deep inside her.
Twila threw her head back, a scream ripping from her throat.
Niles moved his fingers quickly, pumping in and out with a perfect rhythm. He rubbed his thumb hard against her clit, hitting the exact right angle every single time.
"Look at me," Niles demanded roughly, his eyes locking onto hers in the dark.
Twila opened her blurry, tear-filled eyes, looking up at him.
"You are mine tonight," Niles whispered, speeding his hand up even more.
Twila couldn't take it anymore, the intense, friction built up way too fast.
"I'm going to cum," Twila cried out, her legs clamping violently tight around his wrist.
"Let it go for me, beautiful," Niles growled, pressing his thumb down incredibly hard.
Twila shattered.
She let out a loud, breathless moan, her pussy clenching tight around his moving fingers as a blinding orgasm ripped straight through her body.
She shook uncontrollably on the bed, hot tears of pure pleasure slipping out of her eyes.
Niles slowed his hand down, pulling his wet fingers out. He leaned up and kissed her mouth deeply, swallowing her soft, happy sighs.
He pulled her against his chest, wrapping his arms around her body.
Twila rested her head over his heart, she didn't say a single word.
But as she lay there listening to the vampire's steady breathing, she knew she was in trouble.
She didn't just surrender to the mate bond tonight. She completely surrendered her own heart.
