Chapter 104 Unleashed
Chapter 104 Unleashed
THE KINGS LOUNGE
The room fell silent.
Twila stared at the laptop screen, her eyes wide with terror, she felt as if the air had left her lungs.
"I am going to turn into a wolf?" Twila choked out, her voice shaking.
"In two days?"
"Yes," Delaney whispered, looking down at his pale hands. "The Lunar magic is taking over your human body, Twila, the first shift is very violent, it breaks every single bone in your body and puts them back together."
"Holy crap," Island whispered, covering her mouth in shock.
"She needs an anchor," Cassian said, his deep voice full of concern. "When werewolves shift for the first time, they go feral and If they don't have a strong anchor to hold their mind together, the pain will stop their heart."
"I will anchor her," Neon shouted, stepping in front of his twin sister. "I am her brother, we share the same blood, I will hold her through the shift."
"You can't do it, Neon," Delaney said softly, shaking his head. "Your core isn't strong yet, you don't have any magic to link with her, the force of her Lunar magic would fry your nervous system."
"I don't care!" Neon roared, slamming both of his hands hard onto the table. "I am not letting my sister die! I will find a way!"
The moment Neon's hands hit the wood, a spark of violet light shot out from his fingertips.
The table cracked down the middle.
Everyone in the lounge froze.
Neon gasped loudly and jumped back, he stared at his trembling hands in shock.
"Did you guys see that?" Levi shouted, pointing at the broken table.
"Your magic," Twila said softly, tears of happiness filling her eyes. "Neon, your Void magic is coming back!"
"It healed," Nyx smirked from the armchair, looking impressed. "The kid healed his own magical core."
Neon stared at his hands, a smile spreading across his tired face, he wasn’t useless anymore.
"See?" Neon looked at Delaney. "I have my magic back so I will anchor her."
"I am so sorry, Neon," Delaney whispered, his eyes carrying deep sadness. "But it doesn’t matter how much magic you have. A Lunar Queen can only be anchored by her fated mate."
Twila felt her stomach drop.
"No," Twila sobbed, shaking her head. "I am not doing it, I am not going to him."
"You have to go to him, Twila," Island said softly, putting a comforting hand on her shoulder. "If Niles doesn’t hold you during the full moon, you are going to die."
"I would rather die than force him to do it!" Twila screamed, hot tears streaming down her cheeks. "I just told Raiden I liked him! If I run to Niles right now and beg him, Raiden will never forgive me!"
"Raiden wants you to live, Psycho," Cassian said gently. "He is angry right now, but he would want you to survive."
"You have to tell Niles," Amorette said softly, holding Neon's arm. "You have to tell him today, Twila."
Twila looked around the room, her friends were right, she didn’t want to die or leave them.
"Okay," Twila whispered, wiping her face. "I will go talk to him."
THE BOYS DORMITORY
Twila walked slowly down the hallway, her feet felt heavy.
She stopped in front of Niles's door and raised her shaking hand and knocked softly.
The door opened instantly.
Niles stood there in a plain black shirt, he looked pale, and his eyes seemed exhausted.
"Twila," Niles breathed out, surprised. "What are you doing here?"
"Can I come in?" Twila asked quietly, hugging herself.
"Of course," Niles stepped back, opening the door wider for her.
The room was clean and dark, Niles didn't have any lights on. He sat on the edge of his bed, looking up at her with so much pain it broke her heart.
"I need your help, Niles," Twila choked out, feeling selfish and guilty.
"I will give you anything you want, beautiful," Niles said, putting aside his own pain. "Just tell me what you need."
Twila swallowed hard.
"Delaney ran a scan on my magic," Twila explained, her voice shaking. "I am going to shift into a wolf in two days, the first full moon is going to break my body."
Niles went silent.
"And I need an anchor," Twila sobbed, letting the tears fall. "The book says the Lunar Queen can only be anchored by her true mate, If you don't hold me during the shift, the pain will stop my heart."
Niles didn't hesitate.
He walked over to her, keeping a respectful distance.
"I am not going to let you die, Twila," Niles whispered. "I will hold you all night, I will anchor your mind and I will absorb all your pain."
"But I am wearing the ring, Niles," Twila cried, showing him. "It blocks our bond, you won't connect with my mind if I keep it on."
Niles looked at the ring, knowing what she meant.
"You have to take it off," Niles said, his voice full of emotion. "If you want me to save you, Twila, you have to open the bond."
Twila glanced at the ring, It was the only thing keeping the jealousy out of her mind, but she had no choice.
She reached over with trembling fingers and slid it off her index finger.
As soon as the metal left her skin, a wave of dark magic surged into the room.
Twila gasped, staggering back as the powerful pull of the mate bond slammed into her chest.
But something happened to Niles.
He threw his head back, letting out a groan.
Without the ring blocking the connection, Niles regained his full, ancient power. Being rejected by his mate had drained him for weeks.
The moment she accepted him, his magic exploded.
His golden eyes glowed bright and the cold air in the room swirled around him like a hurricane, his skin looked flawless, buzzing with vampire strength.
"Wow," Twila breathed, staring at him in awe.
Niles looked down at her, he wasn't weak anymore. He resembled a terrifying God of the Night.
"I can feel you perfectly now," Niles whispered, his deep voice resonating through her. "I promise you, Twila, you are safe with me."
"I know," Twila whispered back, mesmerized by his power.
She quickly turned and left the room before the bond pulled her into his arms.
THE TRAINING BARRACKS
Twila walked across the courtyard toward the dusty training barracks where Raiden was hiding.
She pushed the door open.
The training room was lit only by the bright sparks of blue lightning that crashed against the walls.
Raiden stood in the middle, shirtless, hitting a bag so hard that the chains were groaning.
He was covered in sweat, his knuckles bleeding from repeated punches.
"Raiden," Twila called softly.
Raiden froze and dropped his fists but didn’t turn to look at her.
"What are you doing here, Twila?" Raiden asked, his voice rough. "I told you I was giving you space."
"I need to tell you something, Raiden," Twila cried softly, walking closer.
Raiden finally turned around, his eyes filled with concern as he faced her.
"I am going to shift into a wolf in two days," Twila managed to say, her voice breaking. "The first shift will break my bones, Raiden. The only way I can survive it is if my fated mate anchors my mind."
Raiden stared at her, In that moment, his entire world shattered.
"What?" he whispered, his voice hollow.
"I have to spend the night with him, Raiden," Twila sobbed, wrapping her arms tightly around her stomach. "He has to hold me through the full moon, or I will die."
Raiden let out a heartbroken groan, he grabbed his hair with both hands and turned away from her, unable to bear the pain.
"You have to let him hold you," he choked out, tears streaming down his face. "I can't even save you from your own body, Twila, I have to hand you over to him just to keep you alive."
"I am so sorry," Twila wept, stepping forward and wrapping her arms tightly around his sweaty waist from behind.
She pressed her face against his back.
"I hate this so much," Raiden cried, turning in her arms and pulling her tightly against his chest.
He hugged her so hard her ribs ached, burying his crying face in her neck.
"I will let him do it," Raiden whispered roughly against her skin, his voice filled with pain. "Because I love you, Twila, I would rather see you with him than watch you die."
