Chapter 57
One sunny afternoon, the Council suddenly received news that Luna had been kidnapped by a group of bandits while training on the southern border. These bandits, using the remaining traces of Dark Erosion power, controlled several low-level vampires and specialized in preying or passing supernatural creatures and human caravans.
William and Elaine were both worried when they received the news, but they looked at each other and made a decision-not to take action themselves. “Kael is grown up and capable of handling this matter,” William said to his guards. “Let him make a plan on his own and lead a team of young warriors to the rescue.”
Upon learning his sister had been kidnapped, Kael, though anxious, remained calm. He immediately gathered the young warriors and analyzed the bandits’ base location and strength. “The bandits’ base is in an abandoned castle in the south, containing trace amounts of Dark Corruption power. Their weakness is their fear of moonlight energy. Luna’s moonlight power car counteract Dark Corruption power, so she must still be holding on.”
He made a detailed rescue plan: let two warriors who were good at stealth sneak in from the back door of the castle to find Luna’s location; several other warriors attracted the attention of the bandits from the front; he took the rest of the people to arrange moonlight runes around the castle to prevent the bandits from escaping.
The operation went remarkably smoothly. The stealthy warriors quickly located the imprisoned Luna, who used her moonlight power to quietly destroy the cage holding her. The warriors engaged in a fierce battle with the bandits, whose dark erosion power was rendered ineffective by the moonlight rune. At the crucial moment, Kael led his team into the castle and subdued the bandit leader with the power of darkness.
When Kael and Luna returned safely, William and Elaine were already waiting at the castle gate. Seeing the two children return safely, Kael’s face was filled with confidence of success, and Luna excitedly recounted her brother’s bravery. William and Elaine smiled with relief-they knew that the new generation was now capable of standing on their own two feet, and they could rest assured.
This small crisis becomes the final test of Kael and Luna’s growth. But how will this story that has accompanied them for so long come to a happy conclusion?
Evanars later, Kael and Luna have reached adulthood. Kael inherited William’s calmness and leadership, expertly handling the affairs of the Council, and his power of the Night has reached its peak. Luna, on the other hand, possesses Elaine’s gentleness and wisdom. Her moonlight power can purify large areas of Dark Corruption, and her rune skills are unmatched. With the support of all tribes, William and Elaine officially hand over the reins of power to them. Brother and sister will rule together, safeguarding the balance between the supernatural and human realms.
On the day of the transfer of power, the parliament hall erupted in applause. William looked at the confident and composed children on the stage, then glanced at Elaine beside him, his eEvans filled with relief. “We should leave,” Elaine said softly, her tone tinged with anticipation.
The two left the center of power and returned to where it all began the attic where they had

spent their difficult Evanars, which has now been rebuilt and expanded, retaining the furnishings of that time; not far away is the Dusk Manor in Elaine’s father’s painting. William had redeemed and restored it long ago. The manor is full of moonflowers, which bloom with a gentle silver glow every night.
It was an eternal night, the moonlight exceptionally bright. William and Elaine sat, embraced, on the manor terrace. In the distance lay the prosperous and peaceful territory governed by their children. The lights in the council hall shone brightly, the Moonlight Mark studio was bustling as ever, and the howl of a silver wolf echoed from the Moonlight Fountain.
“Do you remember the first time we met?” Elaine leaned in William’s arms, her voice gentle. “You mistook me for Evan’s man and pointed your silver sword at me.”
William smiled, lowered his head and placed a kiss on her forehead. “How could I forget? Later, you blocked Lilith’s attack to save me. From then on, I knew that you were the one I would protect for the rest of my life.”
They reflected on their lives-from their initial acquaintance and misunderstanding, to the subsequent betrayal and revenge; from their joint search for Moon Shadow Spring to their shared struggle against the tide of darkness; from signing a life-sharing pact to watching their children grow up. All the hardships and dangers, all the joy and warmth, transformed into the tightly clasped hands of this moment, conveying unwavering affection.
The moonlight fell gently, enveloping them, as if time had frozen at this moment, promising the next eternity.
