Chapter 42 Everything I Do Is For You
Chapter 42 Everything I Do Is For You
Yosef's cloudy eyes widened, "I can't say anything. My grandchildren are in his hands, Mr. Donovan. That's all I can tell you."
"So your life isn't as important as your grandchildren's!"
After Marcus signaled with his eyes, he turned around, pulled out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. The flame illuminated his features - emotionless, only ruthless.
Behind him came Yosef's wails and the sound of clubs hitting flesh.
About ten minutes passed.
The sounds stopped. Marcus turned around, walked closer step by step, and pressed the still-burning cigarette directly onto the back of Yosef's hand.
"Yosef, you know what I hate most in my life is betrayal. And you? Not only did you betray me, you framed me! You really deserve to die!"
Yosef's body kept convulsing from the pain.
"Mr. Donovan, please let me go for the sake of how I once took care of you."
Yosef's snot and tears mixed together. A man almost sixty years old was now crying like a child.
Marcus picked up a pile of powder nearby, "Yes, you watched me grow up, so you should also know my methods."
Yosef's body trembled violently, and his eyes looking at Marcus became terrified!
"Mr. Donovan, no, don't!"
Screams and the smell of blood filled the factory.
Tyler couldn't help but turn his head away at this scene. Marcus's methods were too cruel.
These past few days, Marcus had been so gentle that Tyler almost forgot what kind of person Marcus really was.
"Since he won't talk, forget it. Give him some water every half hour, and inject some stimulants to make sure he stays awake."
Tyler's body shuddered at these words.
He felt grateful he wasn't Marcus's enemy.
Yosef behind them, hearing this, literally wet his pants in fear. He shouted and begged Marcus to spare him.
Marcus sat in a chair nearby and lit another cigarette. His slender fingers held the cigarette and flicked it gently, dropping some ash.
"Marcus, I'll talk!" After two rounds of torture, Yosef's psychological defenses finally completely collapsed!
"It was your mother! Mabel ordered it. I had no choice. I'm just a butler. Let me go, please let me go!"
Marcus signaled his men to untie him.
Just as Yosef was about to crawl out the door, Marcus stepped on Yosef's hand and crushed it hard.
In less than two seconds, he passed out.
Tyler couldn't bear to watch and walked to Marcus's side, "Mr. Donovan, what do we do next?"
"Take me back to Dawn Blossom Estate. As for Yosef, send him to the hospital." Marcus added something that made Tyler's mouth twitch.
"Remember, don't let him die, or how will he spend the rest of his life in prison?"
With that, he walked out of the factory and headed straight to Dawn Blossom Estate.
Since Mabel had to take care of Evelyn, she had moved in these past few days.
Marcus stood at Mabel's door and kicked it open.
Mabel obviously knew about this. She just sat there drinking coffee, not at all surprised by Marcus's arrival.
"Marcus, you're here. Sit down. You must have run quite a few red lights. Only 15 minutes from the factory - very fast."
Marcus braced his hands on the table, his eyes seeming to hold a ball of fire, "Mother, you need to explain to me how much you were involved in what happened back then!"
Mabel lifted her eyelids, looking serious, "Are you questioning me? Marcus, I told you, everything I did was for your own good! If it wasn't for you, why would I do those things!"
"You keep saying it's all for me! But did you ever ask if I was willing?"
Marcus roared, his eyes bloodshot, "That was my life!"
Seeing Marcus lose control, Mabel actually laughed, as if watching an unreasonable child.
"Your life? Marcus, don't forget, from the moment you were born you got the best resources and education. All your glory was given by the Donovan family. What right do you have to your own life!"
Mabel finished laughing and took a sip of coffee, "Besides, don't you really like Emma? I was just helping you out. Marcus, you don't really think your feelings for her are just a guardian's responsibility toward his ward, do you?"
Mabel had seen all of this.
She watched as Marcus rejected marriage proposals for Emma's sake.
And spared no effort to help Emma. How could such behavior be just simple family affection?
Marcus's body became unsteady, almost unable to stand. Mabel's words struck directly at the ugliest place in his heart.
Marcus controlled his emotions, and in that instant seemed to become again the decisive CEO from the business world.
"Mother, I think you're getting old. You should find a peaceful place to rest."
Now it was Mabel's turn to panic.
As she stood up, she knocked over countless teacups, coffee splashing onto her expensive clothes, leaving a large brown stain.
"Marcus, how dare you! I'm your mother. How dare you send me to that kind of place?"
Marcus's eyes held no emotion, only emptiness.
His lips curved into a smile, "Mother, I think you're getting confused. Don't forget, I'm the one in charge of the Donovan family now."
"Good! I actually raised an ungrateful wretch!"
Mabel clutched her chest in anger. She couldn't believe that Marcus, whom she had personally raised, would treat her this way now.
"Mrs. Donovan! Mr. Donovan!" The butler rushed in, looking panicked, "Something terrible happened! Evelyn was taken away by the police! She might be arrested for breaking the law!"
"She's carrying the Donovan family's heir!"
Mabel couldn't care about arguing with Marcus anymore and ordered, "No matter how much money it takes, we must bail Evelyn out!"
Marcus turned around and directly blocked the butler's path.
"Wait. Mother, if you agree to go to the nursing home, I'll naturally handle Evelyn's situation."
The butler didn't know what had happened in the room, but seeing their confrontational stance, he could only stand aside, not daring to act on his own.
"Marcus! You're threatening me!" Mabel gasped, clutching her chest, "Are you trying to make me die of anger!"
