Chapter 121
Amanda Fire in jail
For weeks, Amanda had been imprisoned; her diet was bread and water, just like any other prisoner there. Behind bars, no one was better than anyone else; all were thieves, murderers, and traitors. Her title as a concubine meant nothing anymore.
"I need something to eat! You're starving a pregnant woman! You monsters!" She shouted every time the guards passed.
Her hair was tangled and stiff with how matted it was; her clothes and body were dirty, and the place was fetid and rotten. There was only a tiny chair in the corner and a cloth on the floor for the wolf to sleep on, nothing more than that...
The guards laughed as they passed by the woman's cell, mocking her.
"Enjoy the bread! Your execution will be soon, traitorous blonde."
They chuckled as they spoke.
The woman growled with hatred and thrashed against the bars; she was beside herself. She wanted to end them.
Amanda spat the words at them; she wanted everyone to hear, especially Cateline.
"I'll kill that other one! Felix's baby will be mine! I'll be his mother!"
Amanda screamed while caressing her belly; she had lost her sanity. She was mad...
"Those damned ones! They promised to help me if something went wrong! Where are they now when I need them so much? Bunch of idiots."
She continued to speak, but soon someone tampered with the cell door.
The wolf turned quickly, startled.
It was the healer Thedeu, accompanied by some guards.
"Hold the woman; I know she won't cooperate with the examination, I'll have to do it the hard way."
Thedeu spoke with a sorrowful face; he lamented seeing the woman in that state. He knew her before she became like that; the wolf was never a pleasant person, but at least before, she wasn't as mad and possessive as she was now.
The guards opened the cell and grabbed her by the arm, forcefully.
"Let me go, you mangy dogs!"
Amanda shouted as she struggled; the guards tried to restrain her, but she forced herself to break free. When one of the men got distracted for a second, she bit him, injuring his arm.
"You damned woman!"
The man yelled, letting go, and she tried to escape from the cell.
The other guard managed to reach her and pulled her arm forcefully, angrily telling her,
"You're not getting away!"
He shoved her back into the depths of the cell with violence, making the blonde fall to the ground, cursing them all. The healer was startled by all he saw; the woman seemed to have turned into an animal.
They tried again, this time managing to immobilize her. The healer approached and made a cut on the woman's hand, taking a few drops of blood and putting them in a container; it was the only way.
The guards released her and quickly left the cell; right then and there, the results would be visible to everyone.
Amanda wasn't pregnant; everyone knew that, but they needed to confirm it to schedule the execution.
Amanda stared at the container with her blood and said with hatred,
"This is a lie! You're trying to kill my baby! I won't allow it! He's mine! Felix's child is mine!"
Amanda screamed hysterically, clutching her belly. She thrashed around, tossing her tangled hair while yelling, frightening everyone there.
"Poor woman..."
The healer spoke as he left the prison, taking the final result to the Alpha.
One of the guards, wounded by the she-wolf, spoke before leaving.
"You filthy dog, I wanted to finish you myself here. I'll be the first in line to see you executed..."
He said in fury. By nightfall, the bite wound would have healed, but he wanted to make the woman pay.
In the Alpha's suite.
Diego was already waiting for Thedeu with the final details of the examination; he wanted to execute the woman as soon as possible.
The healer knocked on the door, and the Alpha granted permission for him to enter shortly after.
"And then?"
The Alpha asked, shuffling through papers on his desk.
The healer approached the Alpha, placing the container on his desk.
"She's not pregnant, sir..."
Thedeu spoke directly; he knew Diego disliked beating around the bush.
Diego looked at the container, confirming what the healer said. He felt relieved to confirm it; he already suspected that Amanda was lying. Nothing that came out of her mouth held any credibility.
The Alpha was more at ease knowing about the false pregnancy. Soon, she would be executed for her crimes—betrayal against the Fire tribe, aligning with an enemy, and nearly killing Felix, his only son and the next Alpha.
"Alright... she'll be executed in two weeks... I'll be the executioner myself... inform everyone of the date, matter closed."
Diego spoke seriously, looking at the healer, who nodded. He felt sorry for the woman; she was part of the tribe, but he needed to respect the rules and laws. The she-wolf had tried to kill the Alpha's son and needed to be harshly judged.
The healer bid farewell to the Alpha, leaving him alone in the room.
Diego would proceed with Amanda's execution vigorously; everyone would witness the Alpha's power firsthand, and see how strict and severe he was with the kingdom's rules. Amanda was the only one after so long to go against the rules and laws, against the tribe and its Alpha, something that was punishable by death.
Diego wasn't content with all of this; it was sad to see one of his own as a traitor. He had never imagined that the blonde would have the courage to commit such an act, but it happened, and there was nothing the Alpha could do except execute her.
The Alpha didn't want the news to spread; he would do everything to keep the Fire tribe silent about Amanda's betrayal. Soon, everyone in the castle would know about the traitor's execution, and he hoped it would serve as an example for everyone to see that laws had to be followed.
Diego sat in his chair and decided to drink something to take his mind off the moment. He had a lot to do and needed to have an open mind about all the matters to be resolved.
He sighed, throwing his long hair back, and scratching his growing beard. He filled his glass and looked seriously, raising an eyebrow at the piles of papers.
