Chapter 182 Aurora Promises

Chapter 182 Aurora Promises
[Sera]

Three days later, Barrett instructed me to pack warm clothes but wouldn't reveal our destination. At the private airstrip, I was surprised to hear familiar voices boarding the plane.

"Jolin? Wendy?" I called out, confused.

"Surprise!" they chorused back.

Barrett guided me to my seat with a mysterious smile. "You'll understand soon enough."

Once we were airborne, I settled in beside him, still puzzled but excited. Throughout the long flight, we shared updates - Jolin and Aiden had reached an agreement to remain childfree for now, focusing on their careers without rushing into marriage, while Wendy and Carlos had just become a couple.

Barrett remained mostly quiet, occasionally squeezing my hand when our friends mentioned the future.

Hours later, as we began our descent, Barrett finally pulled out a silk blindfold.

"Really, Barrett?" I laughed.

"Trust me," he whispered, his lips brushing my ear as he gently tied it over my eyes. "Just for the landing. I want this to be perfect."

---

After what felt like forever, the plane began its descent. Barrett carefully guided me down the steps, the air shockingly cold against my skin.

"Ready?" he asked, his voice uncharacteristically nervous.

"I've been ready for hours," I replied.

Slowly, he removed the blindfold. I blinked against the brightness, my vision adjusting to reveal a vast white landscape, ice stretching to the horizon. In the distance, a group of penguins waddled along the edge of the ice shelf.

"Antarctica?" I whispered, turning to Barrett with tears forming.

"You once told me you'd never seen the aurora," he said softly. "I promised to show you someday."

The memory flooded back - one of our first genuine conversations, when he'd asked about my dreams. I'd mentioned wanting to see the southern lights, never imagining he'd actually remember, let alone make it happen.

"You remembered," I managed through tears, throwing my arms around him.

Behind us, I heard Jolin sniffling too, with Wendy not far behind. Aiden and Carlos exchanged approving looks.

---

That night, Barrett led us across the ice to a transparent dome structure. Inside, plush seating surrounded a central fireplace, with clear views of the night sky in every direction.

As we approached, Alexander and Aurora toddled ahead in their tiny parkas, giggling "Mama, Dada pwetty" in their still-developing speech.

"What's this about?" I looked questioningly at Barrett.

He took my hand, leading me into the dome where flickering candles and white flowers created an ethereal atmosphere.

"I have something to ask you," he said quietly, his voice unusually nervous.

As night fell, the sky above us began to dance with ribbons of green and purple light. Under this celestial display, Barrett knelt before me, producing a stunning engagement ring that sparkled like captured starlight.

"I know we're already married," he began, his eyes meeting mine, "but we never had the chance to do this properly."

Our friends gathered closer, their faces glowing with anticipation in the aurora's light.

"Sera," Barrett said, his voice steady but filled with emotion, "will you marry me again? Will you let me give you the wedding you deserve - the one we should have had from the beginning?"

Through my tears, I whispered, "Yes. Of course, yes."

As he slipped the engagement ring onto my finger, the aurora blazed brighter, painting the entire dome in ethereal green and purple light. Alexander and Aurora clapped their tiny hands, giggling at the pretty colors dancing above us.

"Our island," Barrett said as he stood, pulling me into his arms. "I want to marry you there, properly this time, with everyone who matters to us."

"A real wedding," I breathed, still overwhelmed by the beauty of the moment.

"Where we can say everything we really mean to each other," he murmured against my hair.

In that moment, surrounded by the people I loved beneath the dancing northern lights, I felt like we were finally getting our fairy tale beginning - even if it came after our happy ending had already started.

Six Months Later - Thompson Private Island

Standing before the full-length mirror in the beach villa, I smoothed down the flowing fabric of my wedding dress. Wendy had outdone herself - the design was ethereal yet modern, with delicate lace sleeves and a skirt that caught the ocean breeze perfectly.

"You look absolutely radiant," Jolin said, adjusting my veil with tears in her eyes.

"Something blue," Harmony said, approaching with an exquisite sapphire bracelet. "This was my grandmother's. I'd be honored if you wore it today."

I hugged her tightly. "Thank you. For everything."

Through the window, I could see the ceremony setup on the beach - white chairs arranged in perfect rows, an archway of tropical flowers facing the endless blue ocean. Barrett stood at the altar in his navy suit, hands clasped behind his back, occasionally glancing toward the villa.

"Are you ready?" Mom asked, appearing in the doorway in her soft lavender dress, tears already threatening to fall.

I nodded, taking her offered arm. "More than ready."

---

As the string quartet began the wedding march, I walked down the sandy aisle with Mom beside me. Our guests rose - Professor Davis and Harmony beaming from the front row, Donnell looking surprisingly emotional, Aiden and Carlos standing as Barrett's groomsmen, while Jolin and Wendy flanked my side in their flowing bridesmaid dresses.
