Dave couldn’t help but wish Becca  had picked a better time to bring up the conversation about telling her parents.

Evan  gently ran his fingers through her hair, his calm demeanor contrasting with the tension in the room. “There’s no need to rush.”

Becca , though, was firm in her decision. She shook her head and sat up, still feeling the closeness of both of them. “They deserve to know, and I’m done with secrets.”

Dave immediately offered to take the responsibility, but Becca  insisted on facing it together. “No. We should do it together.”

Evan , despite remaining still, made it clear with his gaze that he wasn’t backing down. “We’re all going.”

Dave patted her gently. “When do you want to go? I was hoping for a little more time with you first.”

Becca  blushed but kept her resolve. She shifted slightly, finding a way to still be close while they talked. “There’s plenty of time for that later. I’ll focus better once we get this out of the way.”

Dave smirked, his desire clear. “Good. Because I’m not done with you yet. There’s so much more to explore.”

Cole, who had been standing a bit apart, stepped forward with a teasing smile. “Let’s get you cleaned up, and then we can go.”

Though their minds were filled with the looming confrontation, the shower was their moment to be together. There was a quiet intensity between them as they carefully avoided getting too lost in the moment, though Dave couldn’t help but touch her, cherishing the closeness.

As they drove to her parents’ house, the atmosphere grew heavy with anticipation. Becca  was quiet, her hands on her stomach, her mind clearly racing. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes, bracing herself for what was ahead.

Dave wasn’t sure how he felt about the whole situation. He’d rather protect her from the tension, but he respected her decision to handle it herself, with all of them by her side. Deep down, he wasn’t sure how her parents would react to the truth they were about to reveal.

Dave was already feeling the weight of the situation. Telling Becca ’s parents about their relationship was a heavy task, especially with everything else—her pregnancy, their polyamorous arrangement, and their roles as her professors. He couldn’t help but think things might escalate quickly, and that the conversation could end with a punch or even the police being called.

Becca  seemed determined, despite the fear etched on her face. She opened the car door and stepped out first, ready to face what was to come.

When the front door opened, it wasn’t just Becca ’s parents who appeared—Carrie, the woman who had once been a significant part of Dave’s life, stepped out, her sharp gaze quickly taking in the group before settling on him. She froze in shock at the sight of him. “Dave,” she breathed, as if his presence alone shocked her.

A man, clearly Becca ’s father, followed behind Carrie, confused by the scene unfolding. “What’s going on?” he asked.

Carrie’s voice was harsh as she demanded answers, her attention fixed on Dave. “Why are you here with my daughter?”

Dave’s heart didn’t flutter the way it used to when Carrie spoke his name, but he knew they needed to deal with the situation head-on. He raised his hands, trying to calm things down. “I didn’t know Becca  was your stepdaughter until recently,” he explained, avoiding unnecessary details about their past.

Carrie, however, wasn’t satisfied. She accused Dave of wronging Becca , and though Dave tried to calm the situation, he could see the tension building. Becca  spoke up, trying to defuse the situation by assuring them that it wasn’t just about Dave, and that there were other things to explain.

Becca ’s father, not understanding, became more agitated, his protective instincts kicking in. Dave could sense the danger of things escalating and stood close to Becca , ready to protect her if necessary.

Becca , though, stood firm. “Dad, we need to go inside to talk. I’ll explain everything.” She led the way into the house, determined to take control of the situation.

Once inside, the tension didn’t let up. Becca ’s father was demanding answers, while Carrie was visibly upset. Becca  took a deep breath and then made the confession that would change everything. “I’m in love with Evan , Dave, and Cole,” she said, her voice steady but carrying the weight of the truth.

The room went silent, stunned by her words. Carrie immediately reacted, insisting that it was all Dave’s doing, accusing him of manipulating Becca  into believing she was in love with him. Dave stood his ground, his voice calm but firm. He told Carrie that his feelings for Becca  had nothing to do with her or their past. He admitted that, while he had once thought he loved her, he realized that the connection with Becca  was something entirely different—a love he hadn’t been capable of before, one that had helped him open up emotionally in ways he never had before.

Becca ’s father wasn’t ready to hear it, still angry and protective. But Becca  remained resolute, and Dave, despite the pain of facing this confrontation, kept his cool for her sake. He would do whatever it took to protect her, even if it meant enduring a confrontation with her parents that no one was fully prepared for.

Becca  stayed calm and collected, pulling her dad down into a seat as she directed the others to do the same. She made it clear that she was the one in charge of the conversation, telling them she would speak without interruption and that they could ask questions afterward. Her confidence and control of the situation made Dave proud, and her parents quietly nodded, signaling they were ready to listen.

Becca  told them everything—things Dave hadn’t known, like the tension between her and Evan  that had turned into love. She explained how their unconventional relationship had formed, and she described the deep connection they shared. With her hand in Dave’s, she continued, revealing that she had fallen in love with all three of them, despite the risks involved.

Then, with a glance at Dave and Cole, she shared the news that she was pregnant. The room fell silent, both her parents stunned by the revelations. Becca ’s father, Harold, asked who the father was, but Becca ’s small shake of her head indicated they would talk about that later.

Evan , sitting beside Becca , held her other hand, while Cole stood behind her, placing his hands on her shoulders. Cole spoke up, expressing his commitment to Becca  and his willingness to sacrifice whatever it took to keep her safe and happy.

Dave couldn’t help but feel even more deeply in love with Becca  as he listened to her defend their relationship. In that moment, he realized he wasn’t just in love with her—he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

In the quiet of the room, surrounded by family photos and the weight of their parents’ shocked expressions, Dave stood, moved by his emotions. He dropped to his knees in front of Becca , his heart racing as he confessed his love. “I love you,” he said. “I would do anything for you. Will you marry me?”
