Chapter 80 CHAPTER EIGHTY

Chapter 80 CHAPTER EIGHTY
EMILY’S POV

“What?” Me and Roman let out, I tried to stand up, wincing at the stabbing pain in my lower stomach.

Roman assisted me, after my continuous insistence.

Kathleen and Andrew were both in their makeshift bed, their red blood tears honestly terrifying as they blinked up at all of us.

“What does this mean?” I whispered out fearfully, turning towards Roman.

“I don’t know,” Roman whispered out, holding me as I cried.

“I need to run tests,” Rachel mutters.

I didn’t like the look in her eyes, and I refuse to let my innocent children become lab rats.

I picked them up, cradling the both of them on my chest.

“It’s ok,” I coo softly, “it’s ok.”

As if by some miracle, their eyes returned back to its beautiful blue color.

“See..,” I say excitedly. “No need for your test. I am sure it was just temporary.”

“A child's eyes turning red at such a young age could strongly indicate they are Alphas, or in this case, probably True Alphas.” Anthony voiced out.

“How possible is that, for both of them?” I glanced at Roman, also taking in the worried expression on his face.

“Do you think it has to do with them being twins?" Roman asked, turning to face Anthony.

“I don’t know,”  Anthony mumbled out. “All these are also new to me.”

“See,” Rachel voiced out. “We need to run a test, who knows what else might surface.”

“No test,” I snapped out, holding my babies tighter.

“Hey,” Roman says gently, rubbing my back. “Relax alright, Rachel we appreciate everything you have done for us up to this point, but till we are absolutely sure, can we just hold off with the test.”

Rachel nodded, though it was pretty obvious she didn’t agree with waiting.

“I would also appreciate that what happened be kept between us for now,” Roman says, glancing at everyone.

Rachel nodded, before excusing herself while Anthony told us about the surprise he had prepared for us.

The walk back to our initial room was filled with stops, different rogue wolves stopping to congratulate me.

In the short time I have been here, I honestly appreciated the respect and distance most of the rogue wolves under Anthony’s care gave to us.

One would say they were more civilized than what was said about them.

I smiled at everyone, saying my thanks.

The room had been decorated, a crib big enough to contain my lovely twins placed beside our bed.

“Oh my, Anthony, this is wonderful.” I gushed out, running my hands over the crib.

“Thank you,” Roman told him, his voice coming out softer than usual.

“It’s fine, it’s the least I could do. I figured with the unexpected situation, you guys would be staying for a while.”

“Alpha Castor, I know I don’t really know him that well, but I don’t want him to be worried about me.” I say, glancing at Roman.

“About that,” Roman mutters out. “Hum, I already alerted Alpha Castor about the situation.”

“You did?” I asked, surprised at myself for even forgetting the fact I could make phone calls.

“O, my God, Sheila. I didn't tell her, she would be so worried….,”

“Yea,” Roman says sheepishly. “I kinda already did.”

“I am a bad person,” I whispered out, ashamed of myself.

“No, don’t say that,” Roman told me, trying to comfort me. “I am sure Sheila understands. Besides, you can still call her. I haven’t told anyone about the recent events.”

“Well, I don’t know if you should be telling people about the twins yet.” Anthony voiced out, he had been silently watching me and Roman.

“Why not?” I asked, frowning.

“It’s just news spread, you tell Sheila or Alpha Castor, out of happiness they tell someone else till it gets to the very people we don’t want this kind of information getting to.”

“Do you know how precious and important Kathleen and Andrew are?”

“The kind of experiment people like that would conduct on them?” Anthony asked us, making sure we understood just what exactly could go wrong.

I turned white in fear, my mind taking me back to that lap, that old man inside that tub.

I shivered, holding my twins even tighter now.

They were looking for me, that was already clear. But if they found out about my twins….., I shaked my head, refusing to even imagine all that could happen.

“We are not going to let that happen.” Roman spat out in anger, holding me tightly.

“I promise that as long as I breathe, me and my pack are always going to protect you.”

“You are always welcome here.” Anthony tells me, his tone carrying a strong conviction.

“Thank you uncle,” I say tearfully. Sniffing a bit.

“You are welcome, now you all should rest, God knows you deserve it.”

He bid us farewell, before leaving, gently closing the door on his way out.

Roman strides towards the door, locking it, before coming towards me.

He gently took Kathleen from me, rubbing her back gently as she stirred a little.

After making sure she had gone back to sleep, he laid her inside the crib, while I did the same with Andrew.

We stood there for a while, just staring at them.

“I can’t lose my babies,” I whispered, leaning into Roman.

“We won’t love,” Roman whispered back.

Roman prepared the bath for me, filling it with warm water.

I stepped inside, sighing out in relief as the warmness sipped into my bones, relaxing me.

Roman also joined me inside the bath. His hands gently massaging my shoulders, before walking his way to my hair.

I sigh loudly, relaxing my back against his broad chest.

“I like it here.” I whisper softly, “I don’t know, maybe it’s the freedom, the simplicity, I don’t know how to explain it.”

“Or maybe I just don’t want to go back to the pack. The looks, the questions, and now more than ever, the fear and danger looming everywhere.”

“I like it here also, no duties to the pack, just me, you and our babies.”

“The rogue wolves are tough and hot headed, but it’s hard to gain their trust, or even gather them to build something this amazing in the way Anthony has managed to do.”

“I don’t know, and I am not saying they are all good, but I am also starting to think they are not all bad.”

I sighed out, turning to face Roman. I pecked him lightly, smiling at the look on his face.

“Do you ever miss our old pack?” I asked him gently. “Your dad, mom and sis, they would have been fusing over Kathleen and Andrew by now.”

Roman smiled at that, biting his lips. “I miss them, and I know one day, I would properly introduce you and my kids to them.”

“I am worried,” I mumbled out.

“Why, what is it?” Roman asked me.

“Stefan,” I mumbled out, not missing the way Roman stiffened behind me. “Once he finds out about the babies not being his, I don't know what he might do. What if he tries to hurt them or something?”

“Listen to me,” Roman says firmly. “Those are my blood, my children.”

“Nobody, especially Stefan, would ever hurt them. Do you understand me?”

I nodded my head, hugging him.

We left the now cold bath, putting on our nighties. We stared at the sleeping twins, before going to bed.

I cuddled into Roman, enjoying the warmness of his strong body.

“It’s going to be alright,” Roman whispers softly, before we both succumb to the sweet embrace of sleep.
