Chapter 59 CHAPTER SIXTY
EMILY’S POV
“Are you certain who you saw was Camille?” Roman asked, before sitting down opposite Emily.
“Yes I am certain. She looked so worn out, not the strong beautiful lady in my memories. I wonder what they must have done to her.”
Roman didn’t say anything, deep in thought. They both jerked up at the ringing of the phone in front of them.
Emily had been trying to contact Anthony on the phone he had given her, all to no avail. Now, that very Phone is ringing.
She glanced at Roman, before picking up the phone. “Hello” Emily whispered, waiting for whoever was on the other end.
“I need you to come to the cave now.”Anthony’s voice rang out urgently.
“I don’t know if today would be possible, the pack is under surveillance, and I don’t know how to leave without raising suspicions.”
“Find a way, my people will meet you halfway. The same place I dropped you the other day, wait there.”
Before Emily could say anything else, Anthony hung up the phone.
Emily glanced at the phone baffled, before gently placing it back on the kitchen counter.
“What did he say?” Roman asked.
“I need to find a way to meet him today. It sounded serious.”
“Ok,” Roman says, “we have to find a way to leave the pack.”
“How?” Emily asked him. Since the recent attack on the pack, Alpha Castor had put a tight restriction on the going and coming of every one in the pack. The only people that had been allowed in, were Stefan, and the few warriors he had brought along with him.
“We need to visit Alpha Castor,” Roman says. “We need to tell him the truth, he is your father Emily, I am sure he is worried about you, and won’t want such an opportunity to go to waste.”
“I don’t know,” Emily muttered out. “You already know about the deep seated grudge between my uncle and Alpha Castor, I don’t want him to know about them yet.”
“Then we don’t tell him everything,” Roman says, standing up as he walks towards Emily. “We just need to let him know that one of the researchers working on your problem has found a breakthrough, and that it’s of utmost importance we meet them today.”
Emily didn’t say anything for a while, pondering on Roman’s suggestion. She had just recently acknowledged that Alpha Castor is her father, and now she had to start their relationship on lies.
“Hey!” Roman called softly, rubbing her forehead where her eyebrows were pinched together in worry. He took her hands in his, smiling calmly at her. “It’s going to be alright ok, he assured her, you don’t need to worry yourself too much.”
Emily breathed out shakily, before standing up from the stool she had been sitting on. They both hurriedly dressed up, packing whatever they might need, before driving towards Alpha Castors office.
“Are you ready,” Roman asked once they got to the door leading into Alpha Castors office.
Emily nodded her head, her hands absently rubbing her stomach.
She watched as Roman knocked on the door, while they waited patiently. Not too long after, the door opened, with Stefan standing there.
They regarded themselves for a while in silence, before Stefan smiled.
“Hey!” he says, nodding his head towards Emily. “It’s been a while, how’s the babies?”
“Fine thank you,” Emily answered cordially, expecting him to move out of the way, instead Stefan relaxed against the door, observing both her and Roman with that annoying smirk of his.
“It’s almost six months right?” Stefan asked, “how quickly time flies,” he mused, his piercing gaze directed at Emily’s bulging stomach.
“Yes, how Quickly,” Roman sneered out. He took Emily’s hands in his, before pushing Stefan out of the way.
Alpha Castor was seated on his office chair, an amused smirk on his face. No doubt, Emily was sure he had witnessed the brief encounter between her and Stefan.
He ushered them to their seats, folding his hands on the table. They all turned their heads as the door closed shut, Emily, sighing out in relief that Stefan had finally decided to let them be.
“What can I help you with?” Alpha Castor asked.
“We need your permission to step outside of the pack for a while," Roman spoke out. “At most three days tops.”
Alpha Castor didn’t say anything, he just stared at the both of them, while Emily clutched her dress as sweat dripped down her forehead. She was nervous, and honestly didn’t know Alpha Castor enough to gauge if he was willing to put her needs first, as his family, before that of the pack.
“The pack is currently under tight surveillance,” Alpha Castor spoke out finally. “And as much as I would like to help, I am sorry but nobody is allowed to leave, till everything is sorted out.”
“You don’t understand,” Emily voiced out, her voice higher than she would have liked. She cleared her throat, shifting awkwardly on her seat, before continuing. “I mean it’s of great importance. One of the researchers working on the merging of my wolf has finally found a solution, I need to meet up with them for some final testing. Please Alpha Castor, it’s important for both me and my unborn babies.”
Alpha Castor sighed, deep in thought. “You know the last time you went to meet a researcher along with your mother, I didn’t see you again. And now after many years, I feel like the same thing is about to happen again.”
Emily didn’t know what to say to that, instead she glanced at Roman, hoping he had a good argument in place.
“I promise that I will bring your daughter back safely to you," Roman says. ““If you have any of your researchers that are close to finding a solution, then we would stay back, but if not, we need to meet with this researcher. Emily’s life is in serious danger, and we honestly don’t have much time anymore.””
They both watched as Alpha Castor stood up, he walked towards a shelf filled with books, bringing out a phone from behind one of the books. He made a call, speaking to someone else on it, before ending the call.
“I just called my trusted warriors, they would be going with you on this trip. That’s my condition, it’s up to you to take it or leave it.”
