Chapter 45 FOURTY SIX
EMILY’S POV
Emily walked towards the pack border, the security guards stationed there recognizing her instantly.
She greeted them calmly, before walking inside the pack. Construction was going on around the border, it would seem Alpha Castor wants to install a high end fence around the pack.
Emily walked for a while, arranging her liar better. Roman knew her too well, so she had to make her story really believable.
She breathed out in exhaustion, her hands on her hips as she panted. Before she could even move an inch, the door to her house swung open. Roman stood there for a while, before running towards her.
He hugged her as tight as he could, her tummy restricting him from going any tighter.
They both walked into the house silently. Roman left Emily’s side, while she took her seat on one of the couches. He came back with a hot cup of tea, before sitting down close to her.
He gave her a few minutes to sip from the tea, before bombarding her with questions.
“What happened?” Roman asked.
Now Emily knew she had promised Anthony not to tell anyone about what happened, but it was Roman. She didn’t think she wanted to keep something this huge from him.
I met my long lost uncle, and I was with him for a whole day. She paused, gauging Roman’s reaction.
He sat there unblinking, no expression on his face, It was almost like he knew where she was.
Emily, shaked off that thought, told him about how she needed to merge her wolf before she gave birth, she also told him about the electric tube, before finally telling him about Anthony's suspicions about the hunters.
“What?” Roman whispered out, standing up from his seat. He ran his hands over his face, pacing back and forth.
“How sure are you that it was your uncle?” I mean if they had been hiding out in this cave for this long, “then why come out now?”
“Just days ago, we learnt about them even existing, and now they are parading around.”
“And even if he was your uncle, do you really want to put your life in danger for his experiment?” How sure are you, “that the electric tube does the exact thing he says?”
“And then hunters?” Roman chuckled disbelieving, he stopped pacing, staring at Emily as if she had two heads.
“Do you seriously believe that they have been around all this while, and we have never seen them?”
Emily frowned, Roman was asking questions she should have asked herself, but something inside her just believed Anthony.
She didn’t know if it was because she wanted a family or what.
“I don’t know Roman, I am as stunned and confused about all these as you are.” I just!! Emily sighed, running her hands through her hair.
“I just don’t know what to believe anymore," she whispered out, exhausted.
Roman sighed, before sitting close to her. “We are going to figure everything out, and I promise not to let anything happen to you or the babies.”
“Why don’t you go take your shower, while I phone Sheila about your return.”
Emily nodded, yawning tiredly, before standing up.
“What are you going to tell her?” She asked Roman.
Well, I had held off from telling Alpha Castor and anyone else about your absence, only Sheila knows the truth. I just need to tell her about your wolf taking over, it’s best we keep this between us for now.
Emily nodded, she didn’t want to question why he didn’t tell Alpha Castor that she was missing, he probably thought her wolf had taken over, and didn’t want the man or his pack members to see her as an unstable wolf. Emily smiled, happy she had told him the truth. She walked up to her room, missing the familiar warmth.
She paused, noticing the baby's crib that had been set up beside her bed. It seems while she was gone, Roman had been busy.
Emily walked towards it, running her hands over the toy hanging above the crib. She smiled softly, before rubbing her hands on her stomach.
Emily promised herself quietly, she would do whatever it took to make sure her babies came into this word.
She took her shower, before putting on something simple. Roman knocked on her door, before entering in with her permission.
He was carrying a tray, a steaming bowl of noodles on it. Emily smiled wide at the sight, her stomach grumbling in hunger.
She thanked Roman, before eating slowly from the hot food.
She pointed towards the crib shyly, raising her eyebrows at him.
“Oh,” Roman mutters out. “I needed to keep my mind busy, and what better way than challenging myself.” I tell you, it wasn’t easy building that crib.
Emily burst out laughing, while Roman stared at her lovingly, a soft smile on his face.
He took her hands in his, rubbing his thumb over hand gently.
It is going to be alright, he says. I know right now everything feels confusing, with so many holes that need filling and answers, but I want to assure you that we would find and solve everything together.
Emily blinked back the tears, grateful beyond words.
She wasn’t sure about much, but she was sure of Roman. He had been by her side for as long as she remembered, without him, Emily didn’t know if she would have made it this far.
She pushed the tray away from her, before hugging Roman as tight as she could.
“Thank you so much Roman,” I don’t know what I would have done without you.
Roman didn’t say anything, he just patted her back, before asking her to finish her food.
Emily ate everything on her plate, before laying down on the bed.
She watched Roman as he cleaned out everything, before leaving her alone. Emily sighed, snuggling into her bedsheet. Right now she didn’t want to be alone, but was shy about asking Roman to stay with her.
She glanced up as her door opened, a fresh looking Roman standing there. He didn’t say anything, just joined her on the bed, drawing her close to him.
Emily smiled, her heart thumping faster against her chest. She snuggled closer against him, her body pressed into his own.
Roman kissed her hair, running his hands through it slowly.
I don’t think we should tell Alpha Castor about him being your father. I really don’t trust the people in this pack, I don't need you to be in any more danger.
Emily took Roman’s hands from her hair, placing it over her waist. His hands rubbed her stomach gently, her babies kicking back against his touch.
Roman she called gently, “please no matter what, don’t leave me.”
Roman smiled, kissing her hair, “I will always be with you as long as I am alive,” he says softly, smiling at the hard kick from his unborn children.
