Chapter 43 CHAPTER FOURTY FOUR
EMILY’S POV
Emily gasped in awe, the other part of the cave was more beautiful and carved to perfection. She greeted a few people mingling around, before turning toward Anthony.
He showed her various aspects of the cave, introducing her to different people, before taking her to their lab.
Some scientists were there already, working hard on something. Emily glanced around in amazement, fascinated by the different glass jar containing different specimens.
“What is all this?” she asked Anthony, turning towards him.
This is research and treatment for different diseases that could harm werewolves. Anthony answers, gently guiding her towards where a weird looking human size glass tube was.
Emily runs her hands on the tube, gasping at the electric buzz coming from the glass.
“What is this?” She asks Anthony.
“This is for you,” he responded calmly.
Emily's head snapped towards him in alarm, backing away from the glass as she wondered if she had been hasty in trusting his words. For all she knows, this could be someone else pretending to be her lost forgotten uncle.
Anthony chuckled at her wide frantic eyes, “oh,” he says, "I don't mean it in such a scary way,” though it is scary. “What I mean is that this is where we would try to merge you and your wolf.”
He then proceeded to call one of the researchers. She introduced herself as Spencer Brown, before she explained what the tube was.
According to Spencer, the glass tube would act as an electric conductor, to try to reach into the darkness of her mind where her wolf resides.
Emily looks at the glass, skeptical about all of this. “What about my babies?”She asked Spencer, her hands automatically going towards her tummy. “Won’t all this electricity and stuff affect them?”
“All these have been thought about, and I assure you that there would be no effect on them.” Spencer told her, smiling softly at her.
“Are you sure this is going to work?” Emily asked, the glass tube a giant reminder of her problems.
I mean, “I was injected right?” to suppress my wolf, “why can’t I also be injected to merge my wolf completely?”
Spencer turned towards Anthony, before glancing towards Emily. That process was a very dangerous one, and I want to believe that it was half way successful because it was removed from you on time.
We have had time to reconstruct the drugs, she pointed at a long string connecting to the tube. Inside this string is the modified version of what was previously injected into you, with the glass and electricity acting as a conductor, we believe we can successfully merge you and your wolf.
Emily nodded her head, not really understanding anything.
“Is it ready now?”
“Not yet,” Anthony told her, we need to make a few adjustments.
“How does me not fully merging with my wolf affect my giving birth?” Emily asked aloud, trying to understand better.
We are werewolves, our human side can not push out a werewolf without complications. We need to be in our wolf form to give birth. In your case, you can’t change at will. Your birth can trigger your wolf to morph out, and since it’s not something you have mastered, can lead to death of your babies or yourself.
You need to prepare your body for birth, you should be in your wolf form during labor and then safely birth your babies. All these though, can only be possible if you and your wolf are merged together.
Emily became more worried, her gaze filtering to the glass. The what if, slammed at her brain, making her run her hands through her hair.
Anthony, sensing how anxious she was, led her out of the lab. He took her towards the kitchen, sitting her gently on one of the stools arranged neatly, before walking towards the big fridge.
“What would you like to eat?” he asked Emily, as he ransacked through the fridge.
Something simple, “where is everyone?” Emily asked him, noticing how quiet everywhere was.
“Hm training, working and stuff like that.” Anthony brought out some eggs and bread, asking if she was ok with it, before preparing it.
“Roman would be looking for me, I need to go back to my pack.”
Anthony nodded his head thoughtfully, placing a plate containing bread and fried eggs in front of her.
“Eat up,” he says, before walking towards the fridge. He came back, placing a cup of milk beside her plate.
“When you are done eating, we will take you to the edge of your pack,” before leaving. “Emily,” Anthony called gravely. “I need to know that whatever was discussed here would be strictly between us.”
Emily stared back at Anthony, the intense way he was staring at her making her squirm.
“Sure,” Emily muttered quietly.
He nodded his head, before bringing out his phone from his pocket. He typed on it for a while, before excusing himself to make a call.
Emily ate her food quickly, glancing around in awe at the beauty of the cave. They had really outdone themselves, turning a cold dark cave into something this amazing.
Anthony came back, wearing a fresh cloth. He sat down across from her, handling her a small portable phone.
“What is this?” Emily asked as she turned the phone around, observing everything about it.
“Your mode of contact,” Anthony told her. When everything is ready, I will contact you with this.
Emily nodded, clutching the phone tightly.
“Are you ready to fake going on a small trip?” He asked her.
“Is that the story I am going with?” Roman and Sheila would see through me.
“You can’t say you were abducted,”as that would lead to investigation. So we need to come up with something believable.
“How about my wolf?” My wolf has been known to change and take control a few times. It might make Roman more strict with my routine, but it’s something that would be easily believable.
Anthony nodded his head, agreeing with her.
They both left the warm cave, going out towards a black sleek car. Emily entered the car, sitting comfortably as Anthony entered beside her.
They drove out from the cave, heading back towards the Red moon pack.
They drove for a while, before stopping. I am afraid, but I can’t go any further. From this point on, you have to walk towards the pack's border.
Emily smiled at Anthony, nodding her head understandably. Before she could come down from the car, Anthony stopped her.
Be careful Emily he says quietly, “I suspect that someone in this pack is out to get you, You can’t trust anyone.”
“Thank you,” Emily told him, before coming down from the car. She watches as the car drives off, breathing out, before turning towards the pack’s border.
Emily wasn’t sure of much, but she knew that the Red Moon pack had answers, who she could get the answer she needed, was what she had to find out.
