Chapter 12 CHAPTER TWELVE
EMILY’S POV
Kimberly slowly brought down her hands that had been about to knock on the door, she smiled, extending out the basket filled with fresh bread she held in her hands.
May I come, she said, a gentle smile on her face.
Emily took her in. She was putting on a long dark blue gown, her white hair flowing down neatly against her back, her face fresh with a red glossy lipstick, smearing her lips.
“Hello!!”she said, her smile forced.
Emily snapped to her senses, ushering her in as she took the basket of bread.
Kimberly smiled, before walking past her into the house, her eyes taking in everything.
Who was it? Sheila asked, as she turned. She frowned, before greeting Kimberly.
Emily ushered Kimberly to the sitting area, sharing an awkward glance with Sheila, before following Kimberly.
Do you care for anything? Emily asked, as she took the seat opposite Kimberly.
No thank you Kimberly said, crossing her legs.
Emily nodded, shifting awkwardly in her seat.
Sheila joined them, her hands crossed as she glared down on Kimberly. “What do you want?" she asked.
Kimberly scoffed, glancing briefly towards Sheila, before resting on Emily’s stomach.
Emily tugged her cloth down, before biting her lips. She wasn’t stupid, she knew the reason why Kimberly would be sitting in her living room was for none other than Stefan.
This is about Stefan, isn’t it? Emily asked, glancing down at her clenched hands. She unclenched her hands, raising her head to meet Kimberly gaze.
The smile was gone, and in its place an ugly snare. This is all your fault Kimberly said, if only you had kept your legs closed, we wouldn’t be in this position.
Hey!!!! Sheila said, don’t you speak to her like that.
Am only saying what’s on every one’s mind she said, shrugging her shoulders. I mean after everything, here you are playing house with the same man you cheated with. Don’t you have any shame?
That’s enough, Roman said, his cold sharp tone filling the already awkward room.
Emily glanced up, when did he come into the room? Roman glanced at me sharply, before turning towards Kimberly.
If you don’t have any reason to be here, Roman said, his hands in the pocket of his joggers, then you need to leave.
How dare you, Kimberly yelled, standing up. This is my pack, I can kick you guys out the same way we accepted you.
This may be your pack, Roman sneered, but Alpha Castor welcomed me in not you. And until he says otherwise, you are in my home. So I suggest you leave, now that I am still being friendly.
Kimberly turned towards me, anger all over her face and body. Tomorrow my father would be requesting your presence, and if you ever considered Stefan as a friend and Mate, then you know what to do.
She glanced at my stomach, scoffing, before marching out, slamming the door on her way out.
Awkward silence fills the room, Sheila returning back to the kitchen. Emily could feel the bricking heat from Roman's gaze.
Tentatively, Emily glanced up at him. He glanced away, gritting his teeth. “When are you going to stand up for yourself?" he asked, it’s not your fault.
He sighed, looking back at me. “ Let's eat," he said, "you are probably very hungry, but won’t say so.”
Emily stood up, walking forward before passing him as I walked towards the kitchen. Sheila had already set our plate down, Emily sat down on the stool Roman had drawn out for her, mumbling a quick thank you, before diving into the food.
We all ate silently, before Roman placed a cup of water in front of me. Emily glanced up, chewing slowly, as she stared at him. Drink up he said, you have been stuffing yourself, drink something so you don’t choke.
Emily drank the water Roman had placed before her, blushing slightly. She glanced at Sheila who simply raised her eyebrows, smirked at her, before focusing on her food.
So what are you going to do about Stefan? Sheila asked,
Honestly, I just want all this to be over. I want to focus on my babies, become a doctor, and just live a simple life. Emily said, i am going to ask Alpha Castor to pardon Stefan, and not end the alliance.
This alliance is something Stefan had always wanted, and I don’t want to be the reason why he loses it. He hates me already as it is, I don’t want to give him more reasons to hate me more.
Sheila nodded, standing up as she gathered the plates we had all used, I moved to help her but she stopped me.
Look, I get it she said, but he almost killed you. Think about that before making any decisions.
““Can I see him?””Emily asked.
““Why?”” Roman asked, turning his chair towards her, his hands folded across his chest.
“I just!!! I don’t know.”” It’s Stefan, should there be a reason why? I asked back at Roman, frowning as I looked at him.
He didn’t say anything, just shared a look I couldn’t decipher with Sheila, before going upstairs.
Sheila gave me a hard stare, shaking her head. How selfish can you be? she asked, it’s like you don’t take into consideration how Roman is feeling with this whole thing.
It’s always about you, have you asked about him?
I opened my mouth, closing it as my mind completely blanked. What was Sheila talking about?
What!! I stammered out, confusion all over my face. She shakes her head, pulling out her phone as she talks to someone on the other end.
She ended the call, before staring hard at me. I have called someone to take you to where Stefan is being held, if you feel that’s the right thing to do then am not going to stop you. But Emily Sheila said softly, her tone more gentle than before. That man is no longer yours, I don’t think he has been for a long time.
So go see him, and be careful, because he had no remorse after what he did. She looked at me for a while, before going upstairs.
Was she selfish? Emily asked herself, sure everything had been hectic but like Sheila said, had she sat Roman down and asked him how he was.
He had lost his family, they were close, his sister Bella especially. Unlike her, she didn't have any family apart from Stefan, and him. And here he was, taking care of her, instead of trying to live his own life or finding his mate.
Her chest hurt at the thought of Roman with a mate, and briefly she considered the growing closeness between him and Sheila. Was she his Mate? Is that why she was this angry on his behalf? Emily shook her head, laughing at how ridiculous she sounded.
The door bell shook her from her thinking, she already knew it was the guard that would take her to see Stefan. She contemplated going to Roman, deciding to go see Stefan first.
She would deal with the Roman situation later.
After making sure she was set, she opened the door, greeting the guard that had come to take her. They left the house, driving towards the pack’s holding cell.
They stopped in front of a big building, the moon casting its rays on the glasses, giving the building a historic look. Emily exhaled as she climbed out of the car, before following the guard inside.
The guards inside checked her, before allowing her to pass, some of them whispering to themselves. She walked shakily towards Stefan's cell, breathing a bit fast as she stood in front of it.
Are you ready? The guard asked, noticing how shaken up she looked.
She nodded her head, wringing her hands together.
He sighed, before opening up the cell door.
Emily gasped, at the sight of Stefan. He was sitting on a small bed, barely clothed, dried blood coating his skin, a long pink scar that I had never seen before, running down his naked back. A long chain, was clasped between his legs and hands. He stiffened, before lifting his head.
Hello!!!Emily, Stefan sneered, disgust coating his handsome face.
