Chapter 65 Chapter 65. Zephyr Prepares a Dirty Fight
The advocate froze. He looked at the Omega before him. She appeared fragile and delicate, yet her eyes were cold and sharp, like blades—clearly not joking.
The advocate sighed. "Your case isn’t exactly impossible, but it’s far from simple either. The most troublesome part is the dispute over assets."
"I don’t want a single cent of his. I just want to sever the bond with him."
The advocate had handled many bond-severance cases, but he rarely encountered someone this reckless. Back then, Zoria and Zephyr’s bonding had caused quite a stir—nearly everyone in the city knew about it. Everyone said Zoria had defied her parents’ opposition just to become Zephyr’s mate.
Zoria caught the advocate’s thoughts and spoke calmly. "It took me nearly six years to see Zephyr for who he really is. Am I stupid?"
Seeing how determined she was, the advocate nodded. "Don’t worry. I’ll do everything I can to help you."
"Thank you."
After that, Evander escorted the advocate out and then returned.
When Evander saw Zoria sitting in silence, he assumed she was anxious. He gently rubbed her hair, his voice soothing. "The hearing will be held in a few days. Relax—you’ll definitely be able to sever the bond with Zephyr."
"I hope so."
It wasn’t that Zoria didn’t trust Evander or the advocate. She simply knew how difficult Zephyr was to deal with. If he truly had bribed the judge to block her unilateral bond severance, what chance did she have to turn the situation around?
"Evander, you should go home. For the time being, don’t come see me anymore. I’m afraid I’ll drag you into this. You’ve seen it yourself—Zephyr isn’t here, but his subordinates are watching me nonstop." As she spoke, Zoria glanced toward the bodyguards standing by the door.
Evander had noticed them the moment he arrived. He already guessed the reason but hadn’t said anything. He looked at Zoria seriously. "I’m not afraid of being dragged down by you—"
"But I am."
Kieran’s death was a permanent scar in Zoria’s heart. In this world, the only one who truly cared about her now was Evander. Zoria had once told Zephyr that she didn’t care about Evander’s safety, but only she knew how desperately she didn’t want anything bad to happen to him.
She continued, her voice turning hoarse. "I’m terrified. Terrified to the point of losing my mind."
Evander paused. He lowered his head, staring at the coffee cup in front of him. After a long silence, he stood up. "I understand. Zoria, protect yourself. Don’t worry about me. I won’t become a burden to you."
……
At two thirty in the afternoon, inside the conference room at Hawthorne Pack headquarters, every member ranked as a standard wolf or above was present. Even several elders who were supposed to be in winter retreat had rushed back.
No one knew the agenda yet, but judging from the scale alone, it was clear this meeting was anything but ordinary.
Still, the meeting time had passed by more than ten minutes, and the Alpha had yet to appear.
"The Alpha’s rarely late. What’s going on today?"
"You seriously don’t know? The Alpha wants to sever the bond with Zoria."
Hearing the news, most of the members were openly delighted. In their eyes, Zephyr was powerful, capable, and handsome. He was the dream mate of countless females, yet he had bonded with a mixed-blood Omega—half werewolf, half human.
Back then, the scandal of Zoria scheming to get herself temporarily marked and forcing Zephyr to acknowledge the bond in front of the media had caused an uproar everywhere.
After that, Kieran went to prison. What had happened three years ago was now being dug up again.
"Congratulations to Alpha for finally escaping Zoria’s filthy claws."
"But I’m really curious. Back then, Boss was forced into the bond because of Zoria’s status as the mayor’s daughter. So why didn’t Alpha cut the bond right after Kieran went to prison? Why wait until now?"
"Zoria must have had something on Alpha."
"Alpha is really pitiful."
"Shh, Alpha is here."
…
As soon as the words fell, the conference room went dead silent. Moments later, Zephyr appeared at the door and strode in. He was still dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit, every step steady and firm. His gaze was sharp and cold, like that of a hunting beast, yet the exhaustion and dark circles beneath his eyes betrayed the turmoil weighing on him.
This was a major meeting, but it had nothing to do with the pack’s routine operations. Instead, it centered on manipulating Valor Pack and forcing it to collapse.
When it ended, the entire room sucked in a sharp breath. Everyone felt that Valor Pack was doomed for having offended Zephyr.
After the meeting broke up, Zephyr lit a cigarette. As usual, he stood by the window to smoke, one after another, countless cigarettes. Thick smoke hung in the office, so acrid it made breathing difficult.
"Boss, today Ms. Zoria met Evander along with his advocate," the assistant said from behind him, his voice tense.
"Call her Luna."
The assistant froze. He had expected Zephyr to explode, but instead Zephyr calmly corrected his wording.
Zephyr said, "Zoria is my mate. From now on, you will call her Luna."
"Yes."
"I want to know about Zoria’s mother."
After cutting the bond with Kieran, Juliette had rebonded with a real estate tycoon.
Zephyr understood clearly that simply taking down Valor Pack was not enough. Zoria’s true weakness lay with Juliette.
The assistant thought for a moment before saying, "I’ve found evidence that Valor Pack has been falsifying tax reports for over ten years. If we submit the proof to the court, they’ll get at least ten years."
"Do it. During this time, if Mrs. Valor comes to see me, turn her away. Then force her to go beg Zoria." Zephyr stared out the window, his expression dark. His fingers tapped rhythmically on the desk, steady, like a countdown.
The room instantly fell into a chilling silence. Aside from the soft tapping, it was so quiet that even the ticking of the clock could be heard, one second at a time.
He was impatient to see Zoria’s face twisted in pain, to watch her kneel, beg, and regret ever leaving him.
Zephyr did not care how dirty his methods were. As long as he could keep Zoria by his side, he was willing to pay any price. The more Zoria resisted, the stronger his desire to conquer her became—to crush her completely.
"Yes." The assistant sighed quietly, then continued, "Boss, I’ve invited an advocate over. Do you want to meet him today?"
