Chapter 42 Chapter 42. Zoria Trapped Between Two Cruel Masters

Chapter 42 Chapter 42. Zoria Trapped Between Two Cruel Masters
Zephyr went out for a while and then returned. Hearing movement inside the ward, he thought something had happened to Zoria and immediately pushed the door open. When he saw Faye, he froze.

His first thought was, why was Faye here?

Faye turned around, and the moment she saw Zephyr, she sprang up happily. "Zephyr."

Zephyr looked at Faye holding his hand, his expression a little dazed. "Why are you here?"

Faye replied softly, "I came to visit Zoria, and also to see you. We have not met for a long time. I missed you."

Hearing her mention visiting Zoria, Zephyr raised his hand and patted Faye’s head. In his heart, he thought that Faye truly was gentle and kind, always considerate of others.

"You have not been sleeping well these past few days, have you? Your dark circles are showing."

Zephyr had not gone home for three days. Faye had been so angry she was on the verge of madness. How could she have slept well? But she did not dare complain. She only said softly, "It is because I missed you."

Suddenly thinking of something, Faye asked, "Zephyr, when will Zoria be discharged?"

Zephyr pondered for a moment. The doctor had said that Zoria’s eyes would need at least half a month before they showed any recovery.

"About ten more days."

"That long? What exactly happened to Zoria? She was fine, so why did she suddenly get hospitalized and even go blind?" Faye pretended not to know anything, deliberately probing Zephyr’s attitude toward Zoria.

Naturally, Zephyr would not tell Faye about Zoria’s pregnancy. But sooner or later, Faye would find out anyway. It might as well be said now so she could prepare herself.

"Zoria was found to be pregnant. After she is discharged, I will keep her at home to rest and carry the pregnancy."

Faye never expected that the first thing Zephyr said would be this. He was not angry that Zoria was pregnant. On the contrary, he wanted to keep her and have her give birth to his offspring.

Faye ground her teeth. "A mixed blood Omega like her… can she really get pregnant?"

The tremor in her voice did not escape Zephyr. He bent down and lifted her face. "Do you like offspring? Let Zoria give birth. She can have as many as she wants. When the time comes, I will hand them over to you to raise."

Faye looked up at Zephyr. These words were clearly spoken to her, yet his gaze passed straight through her and settled on Zoria behind her.

A sharp pain pierced Faye’s heart. She had never said she liked offspring. Even if she wanted one, it should be born of a pure Omega like herself, absolutely not Zoria.

What exactly was Zephyr treating her as? In the past, he had spoiled her and cherished her. Now he was so distant that she could barely recognize him. Everything had changed because of Zoria. If Zoria did not exist, none of this would have happened.

Faye swallowed all her resentment deep into her heart. Zephyr had made his stance clear. He would not change his mind. Instead of pointless arguments, it was better to go along with him.

"Zoria… will she really be willing to give birth to offspring for me to raise?"

Zephyr let out a scornful laugh. "Does she have the right to refuse? If I tell her to have however many offspring, she will have however many."

Faye smiled. "That is wonderful. I like offspring the most. Then I will have to trouble Zoria."

After saying that, she turned to look at Zoria, who was curled up on the bed. From an angle Zephyr could not see, the corner of her lips lifted into a vicious smile.

Zephyr glanced over and seemed to see Zoria’s body trembling beneath the thin blanket.

Zoria’s heart hurt until it felt numb. She curved her lips into a bleak smile and silently listened to the conversation between those two cruel figures.

They sounded like they were discussing how many offspring a beast should produce, not someone with thoughts and feelings. Zephyr had stripped her of control over her own body and casually taken away the last shred of her dignity.

Her life had been a complete failure.

After staying in the hospital for another round, Zoria was told she could be discharged. The incision on her abdomen had scabbed over, and the bandages on her eyes could finally be removed. When she opened her eyes for the first time, what greeted her was Zephyr, the butcher who had tormented her her entire life.

Zephyr looked into Zoria’s blue eyes. The bright light that once lived there was gone, yet they were still beautiful enough that he could not look away. On Zoria’s body, the most valuable thing was these eyes. Fortunately, he had kept them back then.

He raised a hand and pinched her chin, forcing her to lift her head. His palm brushed lightly over her eyelids. Zoria’s eye sockets immediately turned red, her long lashes trembling as they fell, making her look like a timid little rabbit.

"Remember this well. You have no right to cry."

Zoria’s eyes were too fragile and prone to tears. Her retinas were easily damaged. One careless moment and she could go blind again.

Zoria bit her lip and nodded slightly. She did not think that far ahead. When Zephyr had already stripped away her emotions, she was nothing more than something unworthy of daylight in his eyes. So why keep any excess feelings at all?

"You said it yourself. As long as I behave and wait for my eyes to heal, you’ll take me to see my dad." Zoria’s voice trembled. Standing in front of Zephyr, her back was stiff, unable to relax.

Zephyr gave a faint smile. "Why are you in such a hurry? I won’t go back on my word."

Taking Zoria to see her father was not out of pity. It was to make her remember clearly. From then on, she would behave obediently by his side. This little rabbit looked docile on the surface, but was rebellious to the core. If he slipped up even a little, she would bite him until he bled.

Right in front of Zoria, Zephyr asked the doctor some private questions, such as when she could mate. The doctor answered honestly that half a month would be enough.

Zephyr revealed a satisfied smile and rubbed Zoria’s head. "Happy? Maybe it won’t be long before there’s my offspring in your womb."

Zoria lifted her head dully. Her eyes were dark, showing no emotion at all. "I want to see my dad."

Zephyr pondered for a moment. Taking Zoria to see her father at this time was not a bad idea. Letting her witness his situation with her own eyes would only make her more obedient.

"Be good. I’ll take you there later."
