Chapter 15 Chapter 15. Zephyr Is A Born Actor
Faye smiled, “May I come in?”
Without waiting for Zoria’s reply, she walked straight into the room.
Faye looked around, finally stopping at the photo of Zoria and Zephyr that hung above the bed. A surge of resentment rose within her. “Isn’t it true that the first time we met was in this room?”
The memory of that day made Zoria feel nauseous, her stomach twisting in discomfort.
"Just say what you want. Don’t beat around the bush." Zoria’s voice was cold. She didn’t believe Faye had come to chat.
Faye had intended to provoke Zoria, but she realized that Zoria wasn’t interested in her at all.
"Zoria, I just want to ask… how much money do you need to leave this place?" Faye’s eyes glinted with hatred as she looked at Zoria’s emotionless face.
"Everhart has collapsed, and I heard even your mother doesn't care about you. Now that you have nothing left, staying here is no longer an option. Aren't you clinging to Zephyr just for his money?"
Zoria lowered her head and let out a bitter laugh. Faye thought Zoria was mocking her and angrily shouted, "What are you laughing at? Did I say something wrong? You're disgusting! Zephyr never loved you, yet you keep clinging to him. You're truly vile!"
"I'm clinging to him?" Zoria lifted her head and looked straight at Faye, her voice calm. "Faye, are you mistaken? You know Everhart has collapsed, and I have nothing left, so what could I possibly use to cling to him? If you want me to leave, you need to convince Zephyr, not me."
If Zephyr agreed to sever the bond with her, she would definitely be happier than anyone else.
Faye gritted her teeth. When Zoria exposed the truth, it only made her angrier, her jaw trembling.
After Kieran was arrested, Zephyr took over all of Everhart’s assets. Over the past month, he had been busy. Although Faye whispered and urged him several times, whenever the topic of severing the bond with Zoria came up, Zephyr always used exhaustion as an excuse to change the subject.
Faye knew full well that Zephyr was just making excuses and that he didn't want to sever the bond with Zoria at all! Thinking this, Faye only wanted to tear Zoria's beautiful face apart.
Faye bit her lip, the corner of her mouth curling into a sinister smile. She picked up the photo frame on the nightstand, her voice sharp. "Three years ago, the media reported that you used Mayor Kieran's name to invite Zephyr out, then slipped aphrodisiacs into his drink and forced him to have sex with you. In the end, you even called the press to make him take responsibility. I remember that the entire country was in shock, and the name Zoria quickly became famous in Cygnus City. Everyone cursed you, calling you a filthy whore!"
Zoria's face turned pale, clearly visible. "What exactly do you want to say?"
Seeing the agonized expression on Zoria's face, Faye laughed even more triumphantly. "That news was a lie. Guess how I know?" Faye paused for a moment, running her fingers over the handsome face of Zephyr in the photo. When Zoria didn't respond, she continued on her own. "It was Zephyr who told me. He admitted himself that he had spiked his drink with an aphrodisiac."
Zoria's pupils trembled, and her hands clenched tightly around her sleeve.
Faye's face gradually twisted into a distorted expression. "Five years ago, Zephyr took you for a health check and found that your marrow was a match for me. But since you're the mayor's daughter, it was hard to get you to agree to donate marrow. So, he had to come up with a way to deceive you into mating with him. He even lied to your father to gain his trust, which is how he got the opportunity to take over Everhart."
Zoria bit her lip, and she had to lean against the wall to steady herself. For the past three years, she had lived in guilt, thinking Zephyr had been forced into mating with her. It turned out that it had all been his plan!
Zephyr, how could you be so cruel?!
Three years ago, Zephyr had treated Zoria very well. He was gentle and charming, like a true gentleman, making her fall into the illusion of being loved. Now that she thought about it, it had all just been Zephyr's pretense. Just because of one unintended night, Zephyr "reluctantly" mated with her. Carrying the guilt, she had endured three years of coldness and violence from Zephyr.
Zephyr could rival an Oscar-winning actor for successfully deceiving her like a fool.
Faye moved closer, her smile filled with malice. "Your Everhart is nothing but my sacrificial pawn, and now you will become my slave!"
With that, Faye grabbed the metal frame and slammed it against her head. Fresh blood immediately poured from her forehead, bright red, startling anyone who saw it.
Zoria instinctively took a step back at the crazed look in Faye's eyes, a sense of unease rising in her heart.
"What are you doing?" Zoria screamed.
Faye threw the bloodstained photo frame at Zoria's feet. Zoria jumped back in shock. Before she could react, Faye's scream tore through the silence, "Zephyr, save me!"
Immediately, hurried footsteps were heard from outside. The door was kicked open, and Zephyr appeared.
"Zephyr, it hurts so much..." Faye choked out, her voice clearly filled with helplessness and indignation.
Zephyr lifted Faye's chin, looking at the wound on her forehead. Then he coldly turned to Zoria, his voice deepening, "Did you hurt Faye?"
Zoria, still shaken from the shock, could only shake her head, her face pale with distress.
Faye leaned into Zephyr's chest, sobbing, "It's not Zoria's fault. I disturbed her while she was resting. I just meant to call Zoria down for dinner, but I didn’t expect to anger her, causing her to throw the photo frame at me... I know Zoria resents me. I shouldn’t have appeared in front of her... It’s all my fault..."
Faye skillfully shifted all the blame onto Zoria. Zoria widened her eyes, unable to believe that Faye could lie so blatantly, "No! It was you who..."
