“Chanal?”
Cameron raised an eyebrow. “No wonder your feet hurt. You didn’t even buy proper shoes. Instead, you’re wearing some cheap knockoff.”
Just then, someone called from not far away,
“Cameron!”
Ryan came over alone and flopped down next to him, throwing an arm around Cameron’s shoulder and giving it a pat. “I blew off a gorgeous woman to hang out with
need to down three drinks for that.”
Cameron eyed him suspiciously. “Where’s your woman?”
“Oh, she’s shy. I’ll bring her next time.”
you tonight. You
Cameron suddenly smiled slightly, but the smile carried a sharp, menacing edge. “Is she shy,
or does she not even exist?”
Ryan’s hand that was holding a glass paused slightly. “What do you mean?”
Cameron hooked a finger under the black high heel on the floor. “I noticed something interesting. When I saw you in the elevator with your woman today, she was wearing these
exact same heels as Cassie.”
Ryan nonchalantly took a sip of his drink, squinting his eyes with a smile. “What’s so strange about that? Women’s high heels all look similar. Maybe they just happened to pick the same style.”
“Really?”
At this moment, Ryan suddenly turned to Cassandra. “Ms. Blake, share a drink with me?”
Cassandra looked at him with utter disgust. “Get lost.”

Then, Ryan turned to Cameron. “See? She won’t even share a drink with me. You think she’d obediently let me carry her around? You know her temper. She would’ve punched me in the
face before I could do it.”
After that, he acted like nothing had happened and kept drinking.
Cameron considered it for a moment, as if weighing the truth in Ryan’s words. Cassandra’s visible disgust toward Ryan wasn’t fake. And from the moment Ryan arrived, he hadn’t even looked at her.
Cameron concluded that he must have overthought it.
As for those black patent stilettos, Ryan’s woman must have been wearing real Chanel while Cassandra’s were cheap knockoffs. He laughed at himself and shook his head.
“What’s so funny?” Ryan questioned.
“I’m laughing at how paranoid I’ve gotten lately I’m jumping at the sight of shadows.”
“I saw the trending posts,” Ryan chimed. “I’ve already had someone take them down. But you really ought to think this through. You’ve got a wife, a kid, and a warm bed waiting for you on one side. And on the other, you’ve got a stubborn piece of gristle. You should make the smarter choice.”
Cassandra snapped, “You’re the gristle! Your whole family is nothing but gristle.”
“Look at you right now. Who’s the gristle if not you?” Ryan shot back.
Cameron sighed. “Alright, can you two just get along for at least five minutes?”
Ryan snorted. “She started it.”
Cassandra fired back immediately, “Attorney Scott, you think being called a gristle is an insult? If so, then you started it.”
Ryan put his hands up. “Cameron, I really don’t get it. How on earth did your issues reach me? It’s truly bizarre.”
Cameron clinked his glass with Ryan’s. “Sorry. Things have been a mess lately. I’ve been on edge. Don’t take it personally.”
Just then, Ryan got a WhatsApp video call. He smiled as he answered it, saying, “You’re awake?
A gentle female voice answered, “Yeah… I’m still so sleepy. Did you go out?”
“I’m just having a few drinks with a friend. If you’re up, call room service. I’ve already asked them to make you some oatmeal.”
“Oh, okay. Come back soon, okay?”

Cameron glanced over. “So, that’s the woman you’ve been obsessed with for over ten years? You’re keeping her so mysterious. You wouldn’t even show me a photo. I’m seeing her for the first time today.”
Ryan chuckled. “Isn’t she cute?”
“Yeah, she’s pretty cute,” Cameron said. Then, he put Cassandra’s feet back on his knees, gently massaging them. “But she’s still not as beautiful as Cassie.”
Ryan’s gaze dropped to Cameron’s hand massaging Cassandra’s feet. His pupils contracted slightly. However, he quickly looked away, tilting his head back and downing his glass of wine in one big gulp.
