Chapter 135 One Hundred & Thirty Five

Chapter 135 One Hundred & Thirty Five
Two Years Later

The Saturday morning sun spilled through the curtains, warm and golden, lighting up the house with a quiet, cheerful glow. Izzy’s mind had been bustling for the past few days, filled with party plans, decorations, and the careful orchestration of a day that would mark a milestone for her little family.

Two years had brought a lot of changes for everyone.

Miranda, Dominic’s mother, had been arrested for embezzlement, accused of siphoning millions from the company. Dominic had spent months handling the fallout, taking full control of the business, and finally ensuring it stayed afloat with her investment. He had long since cut her out of his life, and seeing her in handcuffs in court had been a strange, almost satisfying closure to a chapter that had caused him endless headaches… and, in part, contributed to the failed marriage with Sienna.

Yes, Dominic and Sienna had divorced a year ago. The split had been inevitable. Their marriage had been strained, cold, and increasingly toxic, and though it had been difficult, both had recognized it was best to go separate ways. Now, Dominic focused entirely on Brian, the company, and building a stable, happy future.

Izzy, Steven, and Dominic had worked hard to create harmony for Brian, and Today wasn’t just any Saturday…. it was the twins’ second birthday. Mia and Lila, her daughters with the love of her life Steven, were about to be celebrated, and she wanted everything to be perfect.

Brian, now eight, had bounced out of bed hours ago, wide-eyed and excited. He had grown into a confident, happy boy over the last two years, and his bond with Dominic had amazing. The sleepovers at Dominic’s house had become a routine, something Brian adored, and Dominic had proven himself to be a caring, present father, earning Izzy’s trust completely.

Steven appeared in the kitchen, hair still slightly messy from sleep, but a bright smile on his face. “Good morning,Buddy,” he said, ruffling Brian’s hair gently.

Brian laughed, dodging the hand. “Dad! Stop it!”

Izzy smiled from the counter where she was arranging cupcakes. “Breakfast is almost ready. The twins’ party won’t start for a couple of hours, but we need fuel for the fun today .”

Steven moved closer, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. “Everything’s going to be amazing today,” he said softly. “You’ve done so much already. I’ll help with the decorations, and then we take a little rest. The girls are going to be over the moon.”

Izzy nodded, feeling a flutter of contentment. Life had settled into a rhythm she never thought she’d have… peaceful, loving, and full of small joys. And now she was living her best life, she could truly breathe without fear of the past intruding.

Outside, the driveway was already busy with party supplies being unloaded. Balloons bobbed in the soft breeze, and the sound of cheerful chatter and laughter drifted up from the garden, where a small setup for the twins’ toddler friends had been arranged.

Dominic arrived shortly before the party officially started. He had parked neatly and walked up to the front door, carrying a small gift wrapped in bright paper. Brian ran toward him, a wide grin lighting up his face. “Dad!”

Dominic crouched to meet him, arms open. “Hey, champ!” he said, lifting Brian into a tight hug. “Are you ready to celebrate your sisters?”

Brian nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah! And I’m going to help Mommy and Daddy with the cake!”

Izzy smiled, watching the two fathers together. Steven had walked over, carrying one of the twins, Mia, who reached out toward Dominic with curious eyes. Lila, in Steven’s other arm, giggled and kicked her tiny legs.

“Hey, my little princesses … Mia, Lila!” Dominic said warmly, leaning down slightly to greet them. “Happy birthday .”

Steven set the girls down on the soft grass, crouching beside them. “We’ve got lots of fun stuff today, girls,” he said. “Look, Brian’s already helping with the decorations. You’ll love it.”

Dominic and Steven exchanged a small, understanding glance. There was no tension… only mutual respect. They both loved their children fiercely, and each had learned to navigate the complexities of this blended family.

The party went off beautifully. Guests laughed and mingled. Children ran around with balloons, chased by parents. The twins squealed with delight as Izzy and Steven unveiled the cake, and Brian helped Dominic hand out party favors.

Amid the laughter, Izzy found a moment to breathe. She glanced at Dominic, who was kneeling to tie Brian’s shoe, and her chest tightened…. not with fear or anger, but a quiet, bittersweet tenderness. The man she had once loved so fiercely had grown into the father Brian needed. And Steven…. steady, loving Steven…was the husband she wouldn’t trade and father the twins deserved.

After the cake was cut and the children had devoured their slices, Izzy gathered the family together for photos. Steven held Lila in his arms, Brian stood proudly beside Dominic, and Mia clutched Izzy’s hand. Smiles beamed in every direction, and for the first time in years, the chaos of the past felt like a distant memory.

Later, when the last of the guests left, Dominic stayed behind for a short while. Brian begged for one more sleepover, and Izzy nodded. “Of course, you can stay,” she said, smiling at him.

Dominic looked at Izzy, eyes soft. “Thank you,” he said simply, meaning more than words could carry.

Izzy nodded, then turned toward Steven. “Ready to clean up?” she asked, and he laughed, taking both twins’ hands.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the backyard, Izzy allowed herself a quiet moment of contentment. There had been pain. There had been heartbreak. But here, in this house filled with laughter, love, and little footsteps, she felt whole again.

She finally got her happy ending..
