Chapter 39
Daniel
It's going on to four fucking weeks and there were no signs of her , I was sitting in my office on a conference call , I was there but my mind wasn't . Greg still hadn't found her.
“Mr Chase ?Mr Chase”
“Sorry, what was that Dominic?”
“ We would like to know if you've decided on a release date for the game and the opening of the hotel ?”
“Cyrus will decide on a date for the game, as for the hotel in one weeks time.”
Christine rushed into my office . “What is it Christine ?”
“ Sorry for Barging in Mr Chase ,but two FBI agents are here to see you. They say it's extremely important ”.
“Show them in ,I'm sorry gentleman but something has come up. Can we continue this later?”
“Sure Mr Chase ”
“Cyrus, don't hang up” .I saw Agent Morris and Agent Davis walk in.
“Good morning Mr Chase sorry to disturb you ”.
“ It's fine, do you have any leads on her?”
“Well she may be on the run , hiding perhaps ”
“What do you mean?”
“Well four days ago , Senator Johnson's Son was attacked ”
“ What do you mean?”
“ Well Johnson reported that his son was at the family Cabin in Ohio when he was attacked . Now he said his son was with a female Companion at the time .But she's not involved . Sean claims he didn't see the Attacker . We investigated the place .Do you recognize any of these items?”
He placed two ziplock bags in front of me. I picked up the first one. It had a scrap of her Dress.“She was wearing this the night she disappeared”
I picked up the other one. “This is one of the stones from the necklace I bought for her . He had her, he fucking had her ”.
“And we did not know about the cabin because it was not in their names it was in an employee's name”.
“So where the hell is she?”
“Well we kinda put something together, we're guessing he kidnapped her from the hotel and took her there. He raped her because there were ropes on the four corners of the bed which we assumed he used to tie her with ,there was also spots of blood on the bed .Now you said he had a thing for cutting her ?”
“Yes ”
“Well it seems like he did again”..
Cyrus just looked at me.
“ So where is she? What happened? How did he get hurt? ”
“Well, we think she swayed him somehow to let her out of the ropes to use the washroom. Because the toilet tank cover was broken . I'm guessing when his back was turned she used that to hit him and then escaped because he said his car was missing . We found the car in a parking lot in Indiana . So she drove all the way there.”
“ Why didn't she come back?”
“Well maybe he threatened her ,did something to her or said something to cause her to run. ”
Christine ran into my office again.
“What is it?”
“ I have someone on the line that says they Saw Mrs Chase or someone that looked like Mrs Chase at a motel in Indiana.”
I looked at the laptop .“Cyrus get over here ”
“Put the call through Christine”
After she put the call through I spoke to the woman who said her name was Melinda . She said she was passing by when she saw someone that looked like my wife. Going into a motel .
“Could you describe her for me?”
“Well she had long red hair, it was wild on her head ,her makeup was smeared up ,she was wearing sweatpants and oversized t-shirts there was blood on it. That's why I noticed her. She was also wearing one of those necklaces around your throat. It was a green one”.
“Christine get Greg here ”.
“Thank you ”
“Oh it's okay but i don't think she's still there because I sat looking at the room but she never came out another girl came out ”
“What did the other girl look like?”
“ Well she was a bit taller than your wife, she had short black hair”
“Thank you ”
I ended the call and looked at the agents. “She's back to hiding. There's only one person who'll know what she's going to do.”
I Dialled Riley's number and she answered immediately .“ Is there any news on her?”
“Yes,”
I explained everything the agents told me . “Shit he probably threatened her that he would hurt you or me or she would come back ”.
“Do you have any idea where she would go?”
“No Daniel , over the years she's learnt to hide well. Nobody can find her if she doesn't want to be found . I think Sean always found her because she kept in contact with me . But if she hasn't called me by now then she won't ever call or come back ”
“Riley while she was hiding did she continue to work” .
“Yes she did ”
“Okay thanks I'll get back to you soon”.
“Christine”
“ Yes Mr Chase , Greg is on his way up ”.
“We have a hacker on our payroll right ,or I think Cyrus does ?”
“Yes sir ”
“Get him up to my office”.
“Okay sir”
“What do you intend to do Mr Chase?” “Find Every god damn freelance software engineer. I don't care how long it takes. I want her back”
“Okay we'll head to Indiana to check out the hotel that she was spotted at” .
“Okay ”
After they left Greg walked in. “Sir ”,
“She's hiding ,we need to find her she was last spotted at a motel in Indiana comb all the security footages around that area”
“Yes sir ”
Christine walked in with a young man .“Mr Chase the hacker”
“Mr Chase, you asked to see me?”
“Thank you Christine”
”Have a seat. What is your name?”
“My name is Brandon Mr Chase”
“ How good are you at what you do?”
“ I would say I am extremely good ”
“In percentage. How much would you say?”
“ I would say 99% sir”
“ Good, I need to find someone that's hiding . Now ,She won't want to be found , she's a freelance software engineer. I have a voice sample of hers . I want you to find all the freelance software engineers in every single state hack their damn cameras if you have to. She's pregnant , she'll probably have black or red hair . Are you up for that?” “Yes, Mr Chase”
“ Good, that's all you'll be working on for the time being you're to report your findings to Christine . You'll work in the boardroom ”
“Yes Sir ,Mr Chase, may I ask who?”
“ She's my wife”
“Okay sir, I'll find her”
After he left I sat there thinking about her. Where are you princess? Please come back to me . I haven't been the same since she left . I called my late to let them know what I just heard.
