Chapter 99

Chapter 99
Chapter 99

Sofia Bliss.

This was all… really happening…
The pain… it came with so much force, it was hard to breathe, my head hurt…

My chest hurt so much… so much.
My cousin had disappeared because of me.

Yes, because of me.

I couldn’t hold myself anymore… the tears came.

And it wasn’t a weak cry.

It was a cry of fury, of revolt, of years of buried grief.

They had killed my mother.

It was everything at once… a snowball that only grew.

I only felt the tears slipping down my face… I placed my hand over my cheeks and let my face get even wetter.

Then I lifted my eyes to Adrian, inhaled, and exhaled.

“They knew,” I whispered. “My father… my cousin… everyone suffering and staying quiet because… if I woke up…”

They did all of this for me, to protect me, and now… the worst could happen to him, and that?
It was tearing me apart from the inside.

Adrian placed his hand on my shoulder, trying to anchor me.

“Sofia…” he murmured, coming closer.

“I’m not going to let that happen.”
My voice suddenly came out firm.
Terrifyingly firm.
“I’m not going to become someone else. I’m not going to lose who I am.”
I looked into his eyes — determined.

He stayed quiet, staring at me.

And I understood.

It was already too late.

It was already happening.

The wolf.

My wolf.

The other part of me.

The side that had teeth, claws, and wanted blood.

That thing finally had a name.

And it wasn’t hiding anymore.

Adrian continued speaking, but carefully:

“You need to stay here. Safe. Until I fix everything. Until I end this. Until I get you out of the target of whoever is doing this.”

I almost laughed — genuinely.

Stay here? Doing nothing?

Not a chance.

“You really think,” I growled, “that I’m going to sit here? While people are hunting my father? While my cousin is missing? While someone is trying to kill me?”

That was hilarious.

He tried to argue, but I was already standing.

My heart was exploding, the blood pounding.

My whole body shaking.

“I’m going to hunt those sons of bitches,” I said, every word dripping with hatred. “I’m going to hunt every one of them. I want to look into the eyes of the person who did this. I want to ask why.”

Adrian tried to say no.

Tried to stay calm.

Impossible.

I was impossible.

My wolf was furious and wanted to act.

“This meeting,” I said, slamming my finger on the paper. “I’m going.”

His expression hardened.

“No.” He stepped closer. “You don’t understand. This meeting is dangerous. Everyone who tried to hurt you will be there. And I don’t know if I can protect you inside.”

That was it.

I circled the table in an explosion of fury.

My chest heaved.

My vision went red.

I grabbed his shirt.

Pulled so hard the fabric tore.

And I growled in his face:

“They killed my mother! Adrian.”

My voice was changing.

Deeper, rougher.

I kept talking, feeling everything inside me shaking, my blood boiling, my teeth grinding… they would pay for everything they did.

“They took everything from me. They messed with the wrong person. And they’re going to regret it.”

The sound of fabric tearing echoed through the room — loud, violent.

That sound snapped me back.

Like it broke the trance.

I let go of him, horrified at the strength I had used.

Adrian, however, didn’t step back.

Didn’t even blink.

He seemed to be the only person not afraid of me.

He placed his hand over mine, slowly, and said:

“It’s okay.”

He took a breath.

“Maybe it’s better this way. Possibly they need to see what you are. And the danger of messing with you.”

I swallowed hard.

He stepped closer, slowly, carefully — like he was taming the creature inside me.

And asked:

“Just promise me one thing.”

I looked at him.

“No matter what happens there… stay by my side.
I won’t leave yours.”

That… did something to me.
Softened the stone my heart had become.

Like it pulled the air from my chest.

I could only nod.

And then he kissed me.

A hot, wet, intense kiss.

A kiss that pulled all the tension out of my body, as if he absorbed it for himself.

I surrendered for a second.

For a single second.

And then his phone rang.

We separated.

He looked at the number, tense.

“I need to answer this,” he said. “I’ll be back in a minute.”

I just nodded.

He left the room.

And I stayed alone there with those papers, those truths, and the monster inside me.

But at least I was sure of one thing now:

I would find my father.
I would find Letícia.

And I would destroy every single person who tried to hurt me or hurt them.

Even if I had to let the wolf out.
