Chapter 70 Problem Solver

Chapter 70 Problem Solver
Rachel Jennings,

Lexie was right, women really did flock to him like flies. Maybe I should look for an insect repellent for overeager women. What did they see in him anyway? He wasn't any different from any other Korean-descent guy. Was it his smooth hair that occasionally fell into his almond-shaped eyes? His chestnut orbs that turned slightly green in the sunlight? His athletic body covered in tattoos? Or his smirk that screamed trouble?

I was focused on his wet tattooed arms as he finished drying the last puppy, and when our eyes met, I tried to quickly look away, but his smile told me he noticed. By the end of the day, we were exhausted, and I still avoided talking to him, even though I wanted to tease him about smelling like a wet dog. It was so nice when we were getting along, but apparently, we couldn't maintain a friendship no matter how hard we tried. I was so lost in my thoughts that I didn't even realize we had arrived. He stopped in front of my house, and I got out of the car, surprised to see him getting out too.

"Where do you think you're going?" I asked, and he shrugged as if it were obvious.

"To your house; we have to study," he explained, and I shook my head.

"No way, you're not sitting on my couch smelling like a wet dog," I affirmed, and he rolled his eyes, going to the trunk and pulling out a small red backpack that seemed full.

"I've thought of everything. I have everything I need to clean up here!" he smiled, and I stared at him in surprise, but didn't say anything, just rolling my eyes.

I walked to the door and was surprised to see Lexie pacing back and forth in my hallway, carrying two bags from a famous fried chicken restaurant.

"Lexie, what are you doing here?" I asked, curious, and glanced at Jayden, wondering if he had anything to do with it, but he seemed as surprised as I was.

"I brought chicken!" she said, lifting the bags as if that were explanation enough, and I just shrugged, opening the door.

"Lexie, you're amazing! How did you know I was hungry? Only you would think of me because if it depended on Rachel, I'd starve!" he said with a louder voice, teasing me.

"I didn't even know you were going to be here, Jayden. In fact, I don't think there's enough chicken for you! If you want some, you'll have to go buy some. And grab me a diet soda because the one I ordered came wrong," she said simply, following me and putting the bags on the kitchen counter, but then turned to face him and made a disgusted face. "By the way, you smell like a wet dog!" she said, pinching her nose, and he stomped his feet like a child.

"I always have to do everything. I'm not a delivery guy!" he grumbled, but headed towards the building's door. I thought he was getting annoyed and leaving, but then he turned back and continued. "Do the ladies want anything else?" he asked, and I smiled.

"Fries and that sauce they sell!" I requested, and he nodded, heading out.

I saw Lexie flopping on my couch as if she were at home, and I rolled my eyes.

"Has my apartment turned into a student dorm?" I asked sarcastically, and she laughed.

"This place would have to improve a lot to become a dorm!" she retorted, and I shook my head in disapproval.

"Shouldn't you be bothering someone else? Like Patrick? What happened? Weren't you going to chase him today?" I asked, and she rolled her eyes.

"I've already said I don't want to talk about it!" she said simply, and I shrugged. "And you, any progress with your virginity problem?" she asked, not looking up from her phone.

"None. Jayden doesn't want to cooperate," I explained, and she seemed shocked.

"What do you mean? Weren't you the one who said you didn't want to sleep with him?" she asked, interested, putting her phone aside.

"And I don't, but maybe for the right reasons, this sacrifice is worth it," I affirmed, and when I looked at her, I couldn't hide my smile as I remembered what happened earlier. "Jasper kissed me!" I said, and suddenly I seemed like a high school girl excited about her first kiss.

"Really? And then? How was it?" she asked excitedly, coming over to me and encouraging me to jump with joy.

I never had a friendship like this before, but I confess that celebrating like this over something so silly warmed my heart, and before I knew it, I was sighing.

"It was magical! Incredible, and I don't think even if I dreamed about it my whole life I could come close to reality. It was so much better than I imagined!" I recounted with a smile that couldn't fit on my face, and she seemed genuinely happy.

"That's great! Ah, this phase of infatuation is so good. This beginning, the butterflies. I envy you!" the brunette sighed, and I smiled.

"Yeah, but all of this won't matter if he finds out I'm a virgin and dumps me. I don't know what I'm going to do," I reflected, and she pursed her lips, raising her hand.

"Leave it to me to convince Jayden!" she asserted, and I looked at her, interested.

"How?" I asked, and she shrugged.

"You'll see!" she asserted and said no more.

I decided to take a shower, and when Jayden arrived, he did the same before eating. Soon, we were all sitting on the floor around the coffee table in my living room. Eating chicken with our hands and watching television. I looked at the two of them and smiled because they were in a simple and uncomfortable place just to be with me, and that warmed my heart. Lexie looked at me and gave me a little wink, unseen by Jayden, before she started speaking.

"Rachel, I've thought of a way to solve your problem, and I already know what we're going to do!" she said simply, and Jayden looked at her, curious, with her mouth all messy from sauce.

"What problem?" he asked, raising his eyebrows, and she pretended not to understand.

"The virginity thing, duh," she explained, and he seemed even more intrigued, until she continued. "I've been thinking, and I think the best candidate to take your virginity is Finn!" she asserted, and soon Jayden stood up, irritated.

"What?" he exclaimed, his eyes wide with shock.
