Chapter 74 Chapter 74
I heard the rumbling sounds of an engine from outside the beach house and dried my hands with a towel before heading out, wondering who the hell disturbed people with an engine at such an hour of the night.
When I got out, I was surprised to see Keegan on a really cool black bike with a helmet on his head and another helmet on the bike handle. He did something that made the engine roar again.
"Whoa, where did you get this from?" I swept my hand over the head of the bike.
"A long story, but anyway, there's a bike. Hop on."
"Where are we heading to?"
"The concert is coming up soon. We can go on a bike ride and maybe do other things before heading to the club.
I was grinning ear to ear as I responded, "sounds like fun! I'll grab the tickets and get into denim trousers."
"Hurry up. This baby needs exploration." He rubbed the bike.
I headed back in and got into denim jeans and a black crop top, then I grabbed a purse Chloe had bought for me and slid my phone and the tickets into the purse. I pulled my wavy ash hair into a high ponytail, wore two earrings, and applied mascara and lip gloss before heading out while hanging the strap of the purse over my shoulders.
"I'm here."
"You look really great." He commented, and pulled the other helmet on me. "Hop on."
I climbed the bike as instructed, waves of ecstasy sprang in me to go on a bike ride and to attend the concert.
"Hold on to me." He said and I held his shoulders." No, really tight." He grabbed my hand and wrapped my arms around his torso. "There."
"uh... Keegan.. are you sure you can ride this thing? I don't think I have any memory of you riding a bike."
"Is there anything like this I can't do? Let's see." He fired up the engine and after he rode it away from the beach houses' region, he zoomed off into the open streets. The speed at which he rode was scary and made me tighten my arms around him, resting my head on his back.
I couldn't stop myself from screaming as he drove, swerving past different vehicles. Anytime he overtook a vehicle, my heart skipped and fell out of my chest before returning.
As much as I wanted him to reduce the speed, I also didn't want that, so I enjoyed the moment of watching as we sped past different trees and how it seemed like the sky was moving.
He finally reduced the speed then brought the bike to a stop but I still couldn't let go of him.
"Are you okay?" he held my hand.
I stared and realized we were in front of a very large club and its name matched the one on the ticket. There were already so many people gathered around, I doubted if we could dive past them to make it on time.
I let go of Keegan and hopped off the bike and he did the same. We both got rid of the helmets on our heads and placed them on the head of the bike.
"Where are the tickets?"
I took them out and passed them to him with my eyebrows curled upwards. "How are we going to get past these people?"
He peered at the tickets. "It's a VIP ticket. It says here that we have access to the back door and can head to the VIP session without stress."
"Let me see." I grabbed it from him to read it. "That's great! I can't believe I didn't see that before." I grinned again.
"Yes, so let's get in. If their music doesn't interest me, we're suing them." He said and I burst into laughter, curling my arm around him. "Let's head in."
We headed to the backdoor and after passing our tickets to the bouncer, he peered at us with narrowed eyes. "Where did you get these tickets?" he asked.
"From the singers."
"Okay." He returned the tickets and gave us the chance to enter. Another bouncer was called to direct us to head to the VIP session.
It had a golden chandelier hanging over the three strong cotton chairs with a classy Spanish table between them. The VIP section was also on a raised platform that gave the chance to have a closer view of the stage and a higher view of other audiences. There were only five other people in the other part of the VIP section and that made me more comfortable.
"This is so beautiful." I commented and had a seat.
"I guess so." He sat beside me and signaled for a waiter to head over to us. "A bottle of your best wine and your best drink that isn't alcoholic for her, right Jane?"
"Sure."
The waiter nodded and took his leave.
When I noticed John and Jack walk up to the stage with their guitars hung over their necks, I joined the audience to scream and applaud them.
John was staring around till his eyes landed on me then he winked at me.
"He had better not be winking at you." Keegan frowned while I chuckled.
The waiter returned when they started to play their instruments then the music started on a low rhythm first till it became loud, crazy, and wild. People danced around crazily while I just moved my hips in a rhythm that almost matched the beat of the music.
Keegan just crossed one of his legs over the other and was chugging down his drinks, acting like he didn't want to be here.
They ended their music with a loud beat. I had totally forgotten that I wasn't alone and had danced my life out. I couldn't keep up with dancing on the chair with such amazing music.
Keegan was still taking his drink, I had lost count of the number of glasses he had taken, yet he still looked completely sane. I couldn't ignore the fact that he hadn't taken his eyes off me for even a bit, but I cared less about it.
I continued clapping and squealing as they walked off the stage, then dropped to sit down, panting.
"Is there water?" I asked Keegan, breathless. He signaled for the waiter to come again. "Grab her a glass of water or two bottles, so she doesn't pass out."
The waiter chuckled then left. "Wasn't it so amazing?!" I asked Keegan.
He shrugged and uncrossed his legs. "All I cared about was you. How can you possibly dance so well?" he tucked a few strands of hair that escaped from my ponytail away from my face, smiling.
"I guess it's talent." I shrugged, still smiling.
Soon after, Jack and John came towards us and that made Keegan's face become stern.
"Hi Jane." They smiled at me.
"Hi..." I waved back.
The waiter returned with my glass of water. "Thank you." I said to him and raised a hand to Jack and John to gesture they held on as I took a gulp of the water then dropped it on the table.
"so... how was the performance?" Jack asked.
"It was so great! I enjoyed every bit of it."
"I'm glad you did. To be honest, I doubted that you'll show up. By the way, do you-" John was smiling till he glanced behind me and his smile slipped off. "He's here with you as well? I didn't notice him."
"Yes, you said I could bring a friend..." I trailed off.
"That's great. I'm just really glad you came. Now I can have your phone number?" he asked. "Sure." "Jane," Keegan held my arm. "We have to go to"
"Jane, we'd like to show you a few of our albums to give you for free." John cut him off. "Do you mind if we show you now?"
"Why would I?"
"Don't you have somewhere to go with your friend?" Jack was referring to Keegan and that made a frown form on John's face.
"No, it's fine. I'll be back." I smiled at Keegan and followed John as he led away.
~ KEEGAN ~
This woman had got to be kidding me.
'How can we just let her leave with some fucking men? 'Drex growled.
'If I pull her away and order her to not go with him, she might think I'm being a terrible Alpha.'
I can't believe she made me allow her to come all the way here, bribed me to tag along, and I had to buy a bike, only for her to go with these random dudes like I didn't exist.
I grabbed my keys and wallet and left the VIP section to join the crowd. I headed to the bar section and sat on one of the High chairs to resume having a drink there. At least being in a crowd of people was going to make me not feel so alone and be annoyed by her leaving me.
After a while, three women walked up to me. They were dressed very provocatively in extremely short dresses that revealed way too much of their boobs and ass, so I ignored them.
"Hey," one of them wiggled her finger at me and sat beside me, crossing her legs, clearly to show off her thighs.
"We were watching you from over there and realized you look bored. Do you mind if we join you for a drink?" the other winked at me and also sat beside me while the third woman just really leaned close to the counter beside me.
I wanted to yell at them to get away from me, but remembering that Jane was also with some other men and they could be flirting with her, it pissed me off even more. I didn't mind these women flirting with me; I would just have casual discussions with them.
"Won't he speak?" the last brunette leaning against the counter said.
"Hi." I replied.
Their faces were filled with so much excitement to hear my response and the brunette leaned closer, staring at me like I was a big piece of cake. "You look so fucking hot and since we don't like the fact that you're alone, why don't we treat you to a special section for a special business?"
"Ladies, I understand where you're heading to, but I just want to have a drink. If you're interested in staying, just order any drink, it can be very expensive, whatever. I just need a moment to stop thinking about something so I won't get mad." I explained.
"Oh sure, let's see how it goes." The first woman said and chuckled.
~ JANE ~
John and Jack had been showing me various of their albums in a room they tucked most of it behind a glass show glasses.
"Doesn't it sound so great?" Jack asked all of a sudden.
"What?" I wondered.
"The music that was playing from the speaker. It's ours."
"Really? That's super cool, it sounds great" I smiled but the moment they turned to continue showing me their albums, my smile washed off. I couldn't get over the fact that I had stupidly left Keegan. Now I didn't want to be rude to Jack and John by just leaving right in the middle of Jack's obsessive excitement over their music.
"This song," John gestured at an album. "I wrote it and it was so terrible because I needed inspiration. Now that I've seen you, I now have the motivation to write a better one and I can make the song for you."
"Of course, if you don't mind." Jack added with a small frown playing on his face.
"Sure, I don't." I smiled again, glad I was worthy enough to be an inspiration for a song.
They resumed talking about different scenarios and their music but the itching feeling of not being with Keegan was troubling the hell out of my life, it felt like lice all over me that I just wanted to get rid of.
'Jane, are you stupid or something? Keegan came here just for you, because you asked him to. Why'd you risk the moment you're sharing with him for these men you barely even know?' My inner voice scolded me. I immediately felt terrible, like the worst girlfriend that ever lived. How could I just leave him when I knew he clearly didn't want to be here by his will?
"Uh... guys, I have to leave now." I stopped in my tracks and they did too.
"Leave?" John wondered.
"Why?"
"Yes, Keegan must be waiting for me. And he doesn't really interact well with other people on occasions like this, so he must be very bored." John's face immediately became droopy and his forehead furrowed. "Do you really have to leave for that man? There are still so many things I'd like to show you and let you know? How can I let such a beautiful woman like you slide?"
"Okay John, it's okay, stop it!" Jack snapped at him. What was going on? "You can't try to use Jane as a make up for Veronica's heartbreak. You don't even know her that much and you're trying to ruin her relationship with her boyfriend." He scolded. "He's not her boyfriend, he's just a friend, it doesn't seem like she cares about him that much. What's the harm in trying to heal and being with another girl I like?"
"Uh... excuse me, I don't know if you realize that I'm still standing right in front of you, but this discussion doesn't make me comfortable. And yes, Keegan is my boyfriend. I don't even know that much about you and you don't really know me as well. Why'd you want to make me make up for your break up?" I frowned. "It doesn't even matter. I'm heading back to my boyfriend."
"Wait Jane," John grabbed my hand possessively and that made my chest start throbbing faster. "You can't just leave me, he's not your boyfriend. You can be Veronica too." The desperation in his voice scared the hell out of me.
"Have you lost your mind? Let go of me!" When he wasn't letting me go and just when Jack wanted to step in to pull him back, I hit my purse on him and that made him leave me.
I quickly scurried away and headed to the VIP section, glancing around but Keegan was nowhere to be found. Still panting, I dug my phone out of my purse to call him. The phone rang multiple times but no response. Could he have left angrily? That wasn't possible. He knew I had no means of going back.
"Where is he? What I have done now? Why did I leave him?" Whether it was fake or not, I was such a terrible girlfriend and it made me feel extremely bad. I felt like hitting my head against the rail till I became wise. "He should still be here somewhere."
I dashed into the crowd of the audience. Where was I going to find him? "Keegan?" I called really loud, hoping that he was going to hear me.
For the first time, I tried to use my pointless nose. To my surprise, I caught a glimpse of his lavender scent. Internally celebrating the victory from that, I tried to follow the trail of his scent, though it was very faint and the smell of cigarettes, and other disgusting things were disturbing my lungs.
After a while, his scent was now way stronger, and bliss filled me to know that I could be close to him. I stared around, grinning, but my smile immediately died when I spotted Keegan and a woman in a passionate kiss session while two other women were standing beside him and caressing him. My heart literally dropped to my feet.
