Chapter 18 Chapter 18
I couldn't sleep properly last night. Flashback of Kim being shot recurred in my head. It felt like I could've still saved her, but I left. I knew I had no power to do anything and the gunshot would've killed me too. If only I had gone earlier, If only I was a bit stronger as a werewolf to heal from a gunshot if I had saved her. As much as I felt guilty for Kim's death, my curiosity was eating me up pretty badly. What did she have to tell me? Was our pack in danger? Why did she want to tell me and on one else? Why did her killer take her bag and paper? What was in it?
"Stupid me. I could've picked the paper on the floor while she searched for whatever she was searching for. What did the dark heart behind the paper symbolize?" I questioned myself and groaned at my puzzled state.
There was a knock on the room door, accompanied by Mason's voice, "is the omega in here?"
"yes, I am." I replied and scuttled to the door to open it.
"Good morning, Gamma." I bowed my head.
"Alpha is calling for you." I glanced at him and caught the irritation in his eyes as he scrunched his face. What was with him again?
"Okay, I'll be there in a minute." I shut the door after he took his leave.
Without wasting time, I rushed to brush my teeth and had the quickest bath ever before slipping into a flimsy gown and headed to Alpha Keegan's room, knocking on the door.
"Come in." he replied sooner than I expected.
I turned the door knob and shoved myself into his room. The entire place was a big mess with glasses shattered around. What the heck was with this big child? Couldn't he let everything remain in order?
I suppressed my frown with a fake smile and bowed my head, "Good morning, Alpha."
"Why did you leave without my permission?"
"I apologize." I glanced at him and caught a weird emotion flash in his amber orbs, something that almost looked like concern. There was no way this man could be concerned about me. "I know what you need me here for. I'll clean this room up and return it to order."
"I di- never mind. Clean it then make breakfast for me." He turned to his laptop.
I grabbed my cleaning equipment and began cleaning the room. It felt like forever to get rid of the glasses, ranging from large pieces to tiny pieces.
"He's so grumpy. Couldn't he at least be orderly and reduce my workload? What the hell is with these glasses? Just as broken as his heart. While I'm still in grief over Kim's death, he's bothering me." I mumbled complaints to myself.
I shrieked when his gaze met mine. Could he have heard me? No, the room was way too big for that.
I resumed cleaning, trying to keep my mumblings in my head, reminding myself that it was my duty to serve him.

Crescent pack finally arrived. Now we could hold the damn meeting and I could return to my pack. Though I knew people feared me here, maybe more than their Alpha, I still missed being in control and exerting full dominance over my pack members.
I wore the suit coat over my body and applied my cologne before heading downstairs.
The omega was in the living room, her legs were hugged to her chest while Chloe rubbed her back.
"It's really not your fault." She said to her.
Was she still traumatized over Kim's death? I only realized that she had never witnessed anyone die and had never been involved in any of our past pack wars. Weak thing.
Mason joined me in the living room, as well as two more of our men.
"Do you have every document that might be necessary with you?" I asked.
"Yes."
"Are the cars ready?"
"Yes."
"Okay. Let's go and finally be done with this meeting."
"Yes, I miss Crystal." He blurted out.
I internally rolled my eyes and headed out, getting into my car while Mason and the men went into the bus.
The drive to the meeting hall was only about ten minutes till we arrived.
A lady directed us to the meeting room and we had our seats and exchanged formal greetings with the Alphas, with everyone showing their concern for Alpha Blake of Crescent pack
"It's been tough, but hopefully, the outcome of the meeting will help us all deal with it."
'All?' Drex scoffed. 'We can deal with it on our own.
We're just here to know Vladimir's motive, right?'
'Definitely. We own the strongest pack. What's an ordinary rogue that we can't handle?'
We all waited and were served coffee and biscuits while the other Alphas chatted with one another. I didn't bother to discuss with them, it just wasn't necessary.
Vladimir finally arrived, three of his men tagging behind him.
"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting." He announced and had his seat. "Good morning everyone."
"Let's not waste our time on greeting and head to the main business." Alpha Desmond of Diamond pack, the third largest pack, replied in the exact manner I'd have loved to reply to him.
"Okay. Let's not be so feisty." Vladimir chuckled.
"Here it is." The dude I identified as Vladimir's beta spoke, handing an envelope to Vladimir.
"Thank you." He accepted the file. "We all agree that rogue attacks have been existing for a while now, and they're getting stronger by each passing day. My men and I have been able to discover the rogues' attack chain." He pressed the button of a remote and a photo was projected onto the white screen. "Here is a map. After the Crescent pack was attacked, the third attack of the month, Keegan's pack, Dark Stone pack was attacked." Though he clearly tried to conceal his smirk, I still observed it. "Our pack was supposed to be the next, according to the chat, but we prevented it." He stated with pride.
"How could you do that?" Blake asked. "Increased security and alertness." He shrugged.
"Then the Crescent pack was attacked, again. Due to the change in Alpha, they remained there for a while, passing multiple attacks. The next pack to be attacked, according to our calculation, should be Diamond pack."
"No way! My mate just gave birth." Desmond frowned.
"Yes, that's why there's this meeting." He had his seat.
"So what are your plans?" Alpha Fred asked.
"Good question. The ASW of my pack, abbreviation for Association of Smart Werewolves in my pack University, discovered that the attacks aren't just normal. They are receiving assistance from other creatures like witches, and probably vampires." "We all know that the war between vampire and werewolves has been long extinct and they now keep to themselves. What assumption is this?" Blake frowned.
"Yes, they do, but their assistance is just an assumption. However, the witches and wizards keep multiplying everyday and are sourcing for deeper means to gain more power." He clicked the button of the remote again. "According to the research of my association, the witches have developed how they can be more powerful through the discovery of new trees and they'd like to gain more control by dominating us werewolves."
"That's not possible. We're more populated than they are." Desmond replied.
"Yes, that's what we think. They might be a growing population and might be able to conceal their identities and probably hide their scent from us. The properties of newly discovered trees can boost their powers and make them even more powerful than we are,"
"So what's your plan?" Fred asked. "Great question." He rose to his feet again. "We should all form an alliance. In unity, we can defeat them. We'd help each other out in our times of need. Our Association of Smart Werewolves in all five of our packs can be a joint association and become JASW, Joint Association of Smart Werewolves. We can all rub minds. If you need time to think about this, let me know."
"No, it's a great idea!" Blake replied.
"Yes, we've been thinking of creating an alliance with your pack for a while now." Fred grinned, not bothering to hide his excitement a bit.
"Yes, my Pack members and I would love to." Desmond added.
"Okay, that's great." He smiled, turning his gaze to me. "Now it's left with Dark Stone Pack. We're both the largest packs. If we collide, mutuality will be of great benefit to all of us." He smiled. "You have the time to think about it."
'Do you think it's a good idea Alpha?' Mason mind- linked me.
'I'm not completely certain yet. I still don't trust Vladimir.'
'Yes, I know. Me neither. Do you think we should return home and seek everyone's opinion?' 'No way, I know what's best for my pack. We still haven't figured out Vladimir's motive and we'll need to.'
'So is that a yes to the alliance?' He asked. 'It won't result in any harm. What could go wrong?'
'I also think so. If he tries to play smart, then we'll act upon it. If our association of smart werewolves is with other associations, it'll be great for us. The information could help us discover more things than we'd be able to on our own.'
'Okay.'
'I also think it's a good idea. Our coming here can't just be a waste. I had my doubts that he was going to propose something like this.' Drex chirped in. "We agree to the alliance. Give the contract to my Gamma. my Beta, Gamma, and I, will read through it, sign it, then deliver it to you. I guess that's all and we can return to our packs in peace." I rose up. "Oh, why the hurry? There's a party going down tonight. You can all wait to celebrate with us." Vladimir shrugged.
"We'll think about it." Mason spoke before I could refuse, earning a glare from me.
I had arranged my clothes into my bag with the omegas help. Her face was droopy all through and for some reasons, that bothered me. I felt the need to ask her what was wrong, but I couldn't make her think I was being nice or I cared.
"Alpha," she called, peering into my eyes, something she hardly ever did.
"Do you need something?"
"Yes. How did you know that?" Her face brightened with a smile. "Spit it out. You have thirty seconds to speak."
"I heard that there's a party tonight and you don't want us to wait. Can we just wait a little more and spend this final moment with them? When I return to the pack, I'll be back to my normal life. Can I just at least spend this time and enjoy myself a bit? You'll also benefit from the party. It'll help us all relax and prepare ourselves for the workload we have back at home. It'll also be my first party I'll ever attend. Please just agree to it." She said in a rush then pushed her lips forward for a pout, fluttering her long eyelashes.
Her expression seemed... I don't know, cute? It was also irresistible.
"Fine. Let Mason know we'll stay and return home first thing tomorrow morning." "Really? Thank you so much!" She grinned and skipped out of the room. "I can't believe he agreed." I heard her say after a while.
"He did?" Chloe squealed. Why on Earth did I agree? No expression ever affected me. How could a mere omega bat her eyelashes and it affected my choice? I hoped nothing was wrong with me.
