Chapter 97: There Is Still Hope for Redemption
"Becca, you actually didn't sleep in today? And you look like you're in a great mood!"
Lucy was teasing her first thing in the morning.
Rebecca smiled, "Of course. It's Friday!"
Friday meant the weekend was here.
And the weekend meant she could sleep in as much as she wanted.
"Is there anything better than sleeping in during winter? Nope!"
Answering her own question, Rebecca's mood was visibly relaxed and cheerful.
Behind her, Lucy smiled slightly, knowing more than she let on.
At the same time Rebecca walked into the classroom, Mike entered the principal's office carrying a thick stack of documents.
Seeing Mike was like seeing the God of Wealth himself. Steven Carter, the principal of Empire University, was all smiles. "Mr. Williams, long time no see! I heard from Orion that you visited late at night last time, but I was away at a conference. Such a shame I missed you. Next time, please call me in advance if you need anything!"
"Last time was purely personal business, didn't want to trouble you."
Mike responded while handing over the stack of documents. "This time, I'm here on business. Would you like to take a look?"
Assuming the Windsor Group had selected another project to invest in from Empire University's feasibility reports, or was offering more senior-year internship positions, Steven was beaming.
But after just reading the title, his expression changed dramatically.
"Tell Orion, Andrew, and Bradley to come to my office."
Looking serious, he made a phone call, then Steven started carefully going through the materials.
Before he could finish the thick stack of documents, there was a knock on the office door. Several school administrators in charge of student affairs and forum management walked in.
Seeing Mike, they all put on warm, welcoming smiles.
Then seeing that pile of materials, none of them could smile anymore.
Orion was the first to panic.
That stack of materials included Samuel's resume. Now that it was being rejected, it meant the Windsor Group would no longer consider letting him intern there next semester.
Without the chance to intern at the Windsor Group early, what were the odds of being hired by the Windsor Group to work there in the future?
The chances of getting recruited by the Windsor Group through campus recruitment were basically zero.
"Mr. Williams..."
Orion looked at Mike anxiously. "About that forum incident, although the students' words were inappropriate, they were absolutely true! The students were just trying to protect Empire University's reputation, that's why they all spoke up. This really shows the school's lack of oversight. We will definitely take action against Rebecca and strictly educate the students, so please, could your company show some mercy and not..."
Mike sneered, "Whether it's true or not isn't for you to decide with just one sentence. Besides, if it really were true, why would they apologize?"
Orion's expression shifted slightly.
Mike turned to Steven and handed over another stack of documents. "The law won't wrongly accuse any innocent person, nor will it let any guilty person slip through. This is what the Windsor Group's legal department investigated and collected as evidence, and it's already been officially submitted to the public authorities! Since Empire University won't take action, the Windsor Group did it on behalf of the victim!"
That phrase "won't take action" made Steven break out in a cold sweat. He looked at the other school administrators in charge of student affairs with eyes like daggers.
The materials from Rebecca's lawyer were already detailed enough.
The Windsor Group's legal department was even more thorough.
The school didn't even have a chance to argue back.
Fortunately, the Windsor Group had only rejected Empire University's feasibility reports for next year's research projects and canceled the internship offer letters for those students involved in the incident.
The former might still be salvageable.
The latter was absolutely beyond any chance of recovery.
Steven was certain that if he still didn't get it, even the former would be impossible.
"Mr. Williams, I'll handle this matter personally. You can count on it!"
With Steven's one sentence, Orion's heart sank into the mud.
