Chapter 49 You Are Happy, That's Good!
"Mrs. Windsor..."
As soon as Frederick spoke, all the words Rebecca had been rehearsing in her head got stuck on her lips.
She blurted out an apology instead, "Frederick, I was wrong. I shouldn't have lied to you last night."
"Well, it's not like this is the first or second time you've lied to me!"
On the other end of the phone, Frederick seemed to be in a pretty good mood, his tone relaxed. "I've already had your dorm switched to Star Apartments. Just go get the key from the manager."
Star Apartments?
Rebecca's mouth fell half open, stunned.
Star Apartments was the newest and nicest of all the dorm buildings at Empire University.
It used to be a run-down first-year graduate dorm that nobody wanted to be assigned to. Then, for some reason, the school administration spent a fortune completely renovating it.
Rebecca had seen photos posted by an older student in the chat section of the Empire University forum.
Even just from the photos, it looked beautiful.
Spacious double rooms, with beds on top and closets and desks below on either side of the entrance. What really caught people's attention was the big balcony.
The balcony had a washing machine, plus a rattan chair and small table. On the table in the photo, the student's glass vase held romantic, captivating pink tulips.
The whole room looked like it was coated in golden light—too beautiful to be a student dorm.
When the before-and-after comparison photos came out, the difference was dramatic.
Before renovation: dark dungeon style.
After renovation: fresh campus vibes.
Those graduate students who had written applications and pulled strings to switch dorms earlier really regretted it, but trying to switch back was extremely difficult.
Rebecca never expected Frederick would have her dorm switched there.
"Would that be... okay though?"
Rebecca said quietly, "I haven't even decided if I'm going to grad school yet."
Frederick was silent for a moment. "Then... should I have those three girls in your original dorm move out, and you move back?"
Rebecca: ?
Even she didn't know Frederick had switched her dorm, so others definitely didn't know either.
If Jessica and the other two had to move out and she moved back in, not just her class but every girl in the whole dorm building would know about it.
Rebecca shook her head repeatedly. "No need, I'll move to Star Apartments right now."
Frederick hung up the phone, satisfied.
The room went quiet, and Rebecca let out a long, frustrated sigh.
If only she had just told Frederick the truth Sunday night.
Thinking about how she'd worked her butt off cleaning all afternoon and evening, then couldn't even sleep because of imaginary ghosts, and caused trouble for Lucy too—Rebecca felt like there was a hole in her brain.
Thinking of Lucy, Rebecca's eyes lit up.
[Frederick, can I invite a friend to move into Star Apartments with me?]
Worried he might misunderstand, Rebecca quickly added another message: [It's a girl.]
In the CEO's office at the Windsor Group, Frederick fell silent.
He really wanted to pinch Rebecca's face and ask her: Rebecca, what kind of misunderstanding do you have about Empire University's rules and regulations?
His eyes helpless, Frederick replied: [Sure. Whatever makes you happy!]
Rebecca: Yay!
It was the weekend, and her mood was great.
She was switching dorms, wouldn't have to fight with her excited brain cells anymore, could have good dreams every night, and might even get a beautiful and kind-hearted new roommate—her mood was even better!
Rebecca cheered internally and casually sent back two more messages.
[Thanks, dear!]

At the same moment Rebecca knocked on dorm 620's door, Frederick was holding his phone, his gaze frozen for a moment.
In the image, a little bear was spinning and jumping, waving with starry eyes and blowing a kiss.
But in Frederick's eyes, all he could see was the word "dear."
So he was certain, absolutely and positively sure, that the "dear" from that night wasn't a hallucination, and definitely not his imagination.
Looking back at the azure sky outside the floor-to-ceiling window, Frederick's eyes were warm and gentle.
Today really is a good day!
