Chapter 319 Fascinated by Her
Chapter 319 Fascinated by Her
Alex spent his birthday in a small town full of birds and flowers.
He didn't have a cake or a party, yet he laughed from dawn to dusk until his cheeks hurt.
Alex thought this was the happiest day he'd had in the past five years.
In the morning, they went to the marine park, touched dolphins, and took photos with sea lions and penguins.
In the afternoon, he spent three hours as a jungle explorer, climbing trees, crawling through mud pits, and rescuing small animals.
Then Frederick handed him a toy machine gun. Even though Alex knew it was fake, his eyes still lit up with excitement.
A three-on-three family competition. His team won by a narrow margin. The prize was just a balloon frog but, Alex still felt it was the best gift he'd ever received.
Coming out of the forest, the Maybach headed straight out of town.
The orange-red sunset slowly sank in the west, surrounded by the chirping sounds of birds returning to their nests.
Alex followed Rebecca to collect branches and look for big stones.
Frederick set up the tent.
When darkness fell, the tent was brightly lit inside.
The grill under the canopy filled the air with delicious smells.
Rebecca sneaked into the tent like a thief. She fiddled around a little and snuck back out. Alex saw her and his smile grew even brighter.
In Rebecca's hands was a baked potato she'd dug out from the mud pit.
Stuck in the potato was a dandelion that looked like it might fall apart at any moment.
Then Frederick pulled out fireworks from the trunk.
The sound of fireworks exploding filled the air—boom, boom, boom—as the pitch-black night sky was painted with brilliant colors.
He was surrounded by Frederick's gentle eyes and Rebecca's bright smile.
Alex closed his eyes to make a wish, then blew the dandelion seeds away with a whoosh.
They ate and chatted about the kindergarten interview Alex would attend after going back.
About the competition, Rebecca would enter shortly after school started.
But mostly, they talked about whether Rebecca could stay home every day.
"Becca, I'll miss you when you're not home."
"But I still need to study."
"I won't get in the way of your studying. Becca, I really miss you—during the day, and even more at night. So much I can't sleep."
"Frederick, stop talking. Alex is still here."
Afraid Frederick might accidentally say something he shouldn't, Rebecca quickly reached out to cover his mouth.
When she turned her head, she saw Alex had fallen asleep in Frederick's arms.
He kissed her palm, and Rebecca quickly pulled her hand back.
After putting Alex back in the tent, Frederick came back and sat down, pulling Rebecca into his arms.
"Frederick..."
But just as she started to speak, Frederick's kiss came down.
"Becca..."
Gentle and lingering, Frederick's voice carried a smile. "I've wanted to kiss you all day long!"
When the sunset dipped below the horizon, he wanted to kiss her.
When the fireworks burst overhead, he wanted to kiss her.
When she wrinkled her nose at him, saying she'd only come home on Friday nights like before, he wanted to kiss her even more.
Rebecca felt she must have been dizzy from Frederick's kisses.
Otherwise, why would she feel such an impulse?
An impulse to tell him she loved him!
As her heart pounded, Rebecca realized that she was falling for Frederick even more.
In public, he was dignified and stern, as if even the air around him was cold.
However, in private, he was extremely indulgent and doting.
And these past few days, Rebecca had seen a completely different Frederick.
The strength in him when diving with Alex.
The gentleness and patience when encouraging Alex to climb trees and crawl through mud pits.
And now, this tender him that was kissing her with deep affection in his eyes.
Sitting in his lap, Rebecca could clearly feel his body's response.
Even though this place was remote and deserted.
Even though Alex was fast asleep.
Just thinking about what might happen, Rebecca buried her face in Frederick's chest, blushing. "Frederick, we can't..."
"Becca, I didn't mean to!"
Frederick held Rebecca tight, his voice hoarse. "I can't control it!"
He only wanted to kiss her.
He was sure he hadn't thought about anything else.
However, he was tempted by Rebecca's bright eyes, flushed cheeks, and sweet breaths as their lips and tongues tangled.
It felt like countless fuzzy little claws had appeared in his heart, clawing and scratching, making his heart chaotic.
His body was so hot, it felt like he was going to explode.
"Becca, Becca..."
Frederick's burning breath hit her neck, clearly restrained.
Rebecca bit her lip. The heat on her face traveled down to her heart, crackling along with the nearby campfire.
"Frederick, how about... we go to the car?"
Rebecca felt Fredrick's embrace stiffen the moment the words left her mouth.
She was so embarrassed that her hair stood on end, screaming silently in her mind.
'Rebecca, have you lost your mind?'
She buried her head in Frederick's cheek and didn't dare move.
"Becca..."
She curled in his arms like a shy kitten as he stood up with her. He knew she was embarrassed, seeing as she kept her head down.
Frederick turned to kiss her. "Becca, I thought I already loved you enough, but every day a voice says it's not enough!"
"You have no idea how much this side of you fascinates me!"
The Maybach was parked just steps away from the tent.
After they opened the car door and got into the passenger seat, Frederick pushed the seat all the way back and reclined it, holding the back of Rebecca's head and kissing her deeply.
Rebecca confirmed again that she'd gone crazy.
She wasn't even sure how she'd managed to say the words. She couldn't stay calm however.
Frederick's kiss was hot.
His breath was hot.
Even his palm holding her shoulder through her clothes was hot.
As if he wanted to ignite the clothes on her body and burn them to ashes.
Rebecca cried out, "Frederick..."
Darkness everywhere.
Only the campfire by the canopy crackled and burned.
The graceful flames rose and fell slightly. Each time they were about to die down, a gust of wind would lift them up.
Rising and falling, those hidden sparks all ignited, connecting into one.
In the bright firelight, the Maybach shook violently, moving with the flames. Up and down, to and fro, and every which way...
