Chapter 198 You Did It on Purpose
Spent the whole afternoon at the amusement park, and watched some old men ice fishing by the lake.
Seeing a bunch of old guys with white eyebrows and beards, noses red from the cold, stubbornly guarding those ice holes that hadn't even produced a single bubble, waiting for fish to bite, Alex and Rebecca exchanged glances and silently agreed they really couldn't understand it.
After dinner, while it was still light out, Rebecca got ready to head home.
The Maybach drove toward the Getty family villa. In the back seat, Alex looked completely unhappy.
His eyes stared at Rebecca with resentment, silently accusing her of being heartless and cruel for abandoning him.
"It's Friday, I have to go home!"
Pinching his little face and grabbing his hand to hold it tight, Rebecca coaxed him gently, "You don't need company at night anyway, right? I'll come play with you as soon as I wake up tomorrow!"
As soon as she finished speaking, she met Frederick's gaze: Becca, I need you to keep me company at night!
Rebecca pretended not to see his hint.
When the Getty family was around, from Sunday to Thursday, Rebecca stayed in the student dorms.
She'd go home after school on Friday.
On weekends, if friends asked her out, she'd go play; otherwise, she'd just space out at home. Her parents had their own things to do anyway and didn't need her company.
Now that Mom was back, it meant she had to do things like before.
But she could still go back to Pinewood Mansion during the day.
Sure enough, Alex's face lit up with joy when he heard this, his little face no longer scrunched up.
When Rebecca looked up again, she saw Frederick's unfriendly eyes in the rearview mirror.
Daytime at Pinewood Mansion.
Nighttime back at the Getty family villa.
Becca was doing this on purpose, wasn't she?
After spending so much time playing with Alex, Rebecca found her ability to read people's expressions getting better and better.
Laughing with glee inside but not daring to show it on her face at all, Rebecca said pitifully, "Frederick, I can't help it. I've been good my whole life. If you don't believe me, go ask..."
Before she could say Jennifer's name, Rebecca changed course, "If you don't believe me, go ask Layla!"
Layla would definitely be on her side anyway.
Rebecca looked completely confident. Frederick nodded, "Fine. Next time I'll ask her myself, and while I'm at it, ask Mom too!"
Thinking of that Alexa, who would knock on the door every weekend, "Becca, stop sleeping ," "Becca, the sun's already up," "Becca, go hang out with friends, why are you staying home all the time at your age?"
"Frederick, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you?"
"Becca, I'm not, I didn't, don't make things up!"
"You totally are!"
"Fine... if you say so, then sure. Whatever you say is right, okay?"
Her hand got tugged. Rebecca turned around to see Alex's face full of disgust: You two, how childish can you be?
Getting called childish by a five-year-old kid?
"Alexander, you're dead!"
Reaching out to tickle him, giggles immediately filled the entire car.
When the car stopped, Rebecca looked up to see the Getty family villa a hundred meters away.
"Alright, see you tomorrow..."
Rebecca ruffled Alex's hair, "If I wake up early, we'll have lunch together. If I wake up late, I'll see you after lunch!"
Alex waved.
Rebecca turned to get out of the car.
The car door locked. As Rebecca turned around, Frederick pressed her against the car door.
The car body blocked them from view, so they didn't have to worry about Alexa coming out of the villa and seeing them.
Frederick held Rebecca in his arms, looking down into her eyes, and said, "Becca, I'll come pick you up tomorrow morning... give me an exact time!"
Not being able to sleep together at night was bad enough.
And now she was cutting into their daytime together with her vague "before or after lunch"?
Unacceptable!
"How about... 11 o'clock?"
Rebecca tested the waters carefully.
Frederick made the final call, "10 o'clock, no later! Otherwise, I don't mind paying another visit!"
The threat in Frederick's words was obvious.
And he really might actually do it!
