Chapter: 31 Our Family Is Unique
"Babe, the twins' birthdays are coming soon. How do you want to celebrate their birthday party?" Asked Barry after having lunch at Liam's office.
"Mm, let's talk about it at home later with the kids," Liam replied, feeding Barry with mixed slice fruits.
"You're right, babe, we should ask the kids as well," Liam nodded
They were talking about some random things when Liam's phone rang.
"What?! Okay stay there, we're coming now!" With that said, Liam stood up and picked up his car keys.
"Babe, what happened?!" Asked Barry worriedly and ran after Liam.
"The kids got in trouble, let's go!"
"What?! What kind of trouble?!" Barry panicked.
"I don't know, it's their nanny who called just now," replied Liam while running to the car park followed by Barry.
"Yiyi, Zhenzhen?!" Liam and Barry in unison when they arrived at kindergarten school. Liam and Barry immediately embraced the twins. They have bruises and scratches on their faces and arms with their disheveled hair and dirty uniforms.
"What happened babies?" Barry asks and Yiyi cries. She can't hold back her tears anymore while Zhenzhen remains his stoic face even though he has bruises also.
"Excuse me, Mr. Fraser's," the school guidance calls their attention. Liam and Barry finally noticed the people around.
"Okay, anyone wanna explain what happened here?" Liam, with his stern tone, brings shivers to the spine of everyone in the room, especially Maxie and Steve's parents.
Mr. Fraser, please calm down." The teacher spoke and pressed the remote control and the screen monitor showed the CCTV footage in the classroom.
Liam and Barry gritted their teeth but they can't possibly condemn the children who bullied Zhenzhen and Yiyi.
"I don't want this incident to happen again, I entrusted my children to this school not to be bullied by others!" Liam spoke firmly.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Fraser, it's my fault for leaving the children alone without someone watching them," the teacher bowed her head repeatedly.
"You should be, and– " Liam paused. "Who's the main person responsible for children's behavior?" Liam spoke while glaring intensely at Steve and Maxie's parents. "Aren't you ashamed for letting your kids bully other children? I bet you already know what to do, right?
With that said, Maxie and Steve apologize to Zhenzhen and Yiyi and make a promise to not bully other children again. Also, their parents apologize too and make sure to educate their children properly.
The family went home and decided to have a heart-to-heart talk with the twins after cleaning their bruises and eating dinner.
"Babies, do your wounds still hurt?" Barry caresses their faces. They were sitting on the bed in a circle.
"Not anymore Dadda," replied Yiyi
"How about your Zhenzhen?"
"A little bit dadda," Replied Zhenzhen.
"We're so proud of you for protecting your sister, but don't engage in such a fight again, okay?" Barry ruffles his hair.
"Yes dada, I understand," replied Zhenzhen.
"Daddy, Dadda?" Yiyi shifts her eyes at her Dadda and Daddy.
"Yes, baby?" Liam replied
"Am... I have a question," Yiyi looks at Zhenzhen as if she was asking for support, and Zhenzhen nods at her.
"Dadd, Daddy, why are we different?" Asked Yiyi
Barry and Liam looked at each other, they already understood what Yiyi was talking about.
"What do you mean by different, baby?" Replied Liam and Yiyi nudged Zhenzhen
"Daddy, Dadda, what Yiyi meant was, why don't we have a mother like other kids?" Told Zhenzhen
Liam and Barry exchanged glances in understanding. They knew that this day would eventually come and they had to explain to the kids and prepare for whatever is coming.
"Kids, do you love your Daddies?" Liam asked back instead.
"Of course daddy," the twins in unison.
"I love you Dadda, I love you, Daddy, "the twins pecked a kiss on their Daddy's cheeks.
"We love you as well, babies, now can you listen to a story me and your Dadda will tell you?"
"Yes, Daddy." the twins in unison again.
"Okay then, listen carefully, okay?"
"Mm!" They nodded and Barry begins his storytelling
"Once upon a time, there was a lonely prince who was living alone in his dark and lonely Castle.
Until one night, a knight in shining armor came and saved the lonely prince from his dark Castle. The knight takes him to a paradise and later on, he falls in love with the knight then they get married.
They live happily every day, but sometimes, the prince and the Knight feel lonely too. They wish to have children to complete their family but they are both men.
"Just like you and Daddy?" Yiyi asked
"Yes baby," replied Barry.
Barry contentious the story
"A fairy came and granted the prince and the Knight's wishes, but they had to give something to the fairy in exchange for them to have babies.
The fairy said, "All you have to do is give us your seeds and we will plant them in the special place and after a few months, you will have your babies and your family will be complete.”
The prince and the Knights do what the fairy said, they give their seeds but they fail to have the babies after so many times. Nevertheless, the prince and the Knight were so determined, that they refused to give up and they gave it one more time. And finally, the fairy successfully grants their wish to have children, a baby boy, and a baby girl. Although the babies didn't come out from the prince and the Knight's womb, they are still their biological children as they come from the prince and the knight's seeds. And the knight and the prince's blood were running to the children's veins. The prince and the knight love their little princess and prince so much. They are their greatest treasure.
"Dad, are we like them?" asked Yiyi
"Yes, baby, we are like them, do you not like it?" Asked Liam
"Of course not, Daddy, the story is beautiful and touching." Yiyi and then embraced her Daddies.
"How about you, Zhenzhen?" Liam asked but Zhenzhen didn't answer. Instead, he embraced his daddies so tight.
"I love you, Daddy, I love you Dadda," said Zhenzhen while sobbing.
"We love you too, baby. Why are you crying?" Barry wipe Zhenzhen's tears with his thumb
"I'm sorry for hurting your feelings, Dadda, Daddy. Our family is unique and I love our family so much." Zhenzhen is mature in his age and he understands Dadda's story.
"Aww... so sweet… Thank you, son."
After the family heart-to-heart conversation. The twins fell asleep on their bed.
"Thank you, baby," Liam held Barry's hand.
"Thank you for what, babe?"
"For telling the kids in a way they could understand easily."
"That's our responsibility the moment we decide to choose this path."
"Just like Zhenzhen said, our family is unique." Liam then embraced Barry while reminiscing about their struggle in the past years before Yiyi and Zhenzhen came.
