Using His Powers For Greater Good

Using His Powers For Greater Good
“Irene, I can’t…. you have to stop.”
“You really want me to stop?” She cocked an eyebrow in question.
“No. but you’re distracting me.”
Resigned, she withdrew her hand and settled back into the passenger’s seat of Brenden’s car. He glanced at her once, then made a pained noise before reaching over and grasping her hand with his own. His other hand remained planted on the steering wheel.
He brought her knuckles to his lips for a kiss. “We’ll be at your place in less than five minutes,” he promised, although she knew it was at least another ten-minute drive if the speed limit was obeyed. A glance at the speedometer, however, confirmed her suspicions.
They seemed to have become more enamored with one another since their fight. Whether it was the thought of being without the man or the relief of being together again, Irene simply couldn’t get enough of him. He seemed to be the same, meeting her passion tirelessly, honoring her body with tender touches and caressing whenever he was near.
They were going to her apartment for more clothes, then they would retire to his place and do nothing but each other for the rest of the day.
They pulled into the parking lot a few minutes later. Irene unlocked the door, admitting them inside, and barely had time to shut it again before Brenden’s mouth met hers in a violent assault. His kiss was hard and bruising and she pulled him closer with a hand in his hair, demanding more.
Her kitchen table was closest. Magazines and clutter were pushed aside, her scrub pants were snatched down, and Brenden was inside her in mere moments, their hips meeting forcefully again and again as he claimed her body as his own.
Afterwards, Brenden gently helped her slide from the kitchen table, even though she could manage without him. Soft touches lingered, and she kissed him twice before finally retreating to her bedroom for a change of clothes.
He stood in the doorway and watched her a moment. His hair was wild, his lips ruddy and his cheeks flushed, and she thought that he never looked more gorgeous.
“Do you want to stop and get a new cell phone on the way home?” he asked. He said ‘home’ like she was not standing in hers. Like her apartment was transient. Like the only place she belonged was with him, whenever they decided to rest.
“I thought you said I needed to rest,” she teased. “Doctor’s orders.” She opened her underwear drawer and hid the large vibrator with a hasty look in Brenden’s direction. She felt her cheeks flush, but while Brenden was watching her, he gave no indication that he noticed her fumble.
“I wanted an excuse to get you for myself for the rest of the day,” he replied evenly.
“I see. Using your power for the greater good…”
“Using the ER’s discretion. It wasn’t my order, baby.”
“Hmph. You doctors all band together anyway,” she said, waving a hand dismissively. “It was your idea, wasn’t it?”
“I won’t say I didn’t think about it. But with you running around smashing your face into every surface you find, I’d say you managed well on your own.”
Irene had her back to Brenden while she finished undressing. Standing in nothing but her bra and underwear, she riffled through her dresser in search of a decent shirt. Brenden’s hands were suddenly on the back of her legs, caressing slowly upwards, his touch scorching in the chill of the room.
She stood up slowly and he took a step closer, pressing their bodies together, her back against his chest, her bare skin against the soft cotton of his scrubs. He pushed her hair off her shoulder and kissed the exposed skin, moving his lips slowly to the tender spot beneath her ear. She shivered, her entire body erupting in goosebumps.
“Cold?” His breath was hot against her neck.
She reached behind her blindly, grasping for his hair, then twisted her neck and pulled him to her until their lips met for a blissful, awkward kiss. His hands slid up her body until he was folding her breasts through her bra, until finally, she broke from his grasp and pushed him away.
“You’re distracting me,” she chastised, the same as he did to her earlier. “We’ll never leave if you keep that up.”
It took surprisingly little persuasion to get him to leave the room. Sated from their kitchen table rendezvous, he retreated to the living room to watch television while he waited. She wanted to take a shower, but she wanted to take a shower, but she wanted to take it with Brenden and he didn’t have any clean clothes to put on. All the more reason to hurry, she reasoned, so that they could return to his house and make it happen.
After she got a bag packed, they went to the cellphone store for a new phone. Since she had a replacement policy, she only had to pay a deductible, but the clerk told her they would have to send the phone in for inspection before giving them a replacement. And according to their registry, the line would take around four or five days.
Brenden wasn’t happy to hear that.
“You’ll have to go without a cellphone for a whole week?” he asked, somewhat disgruntled. “Don’t you have an old one you can use?”
Irene was admittedly put off herself. She had never demolished a phone in rage, so she would have an older model somewhere in the back of her closet.
“It’ll be fine,” she assured him. “I can do without for a few days.”
“We could buy you a new phone,” he suggested.
“I can’t afford a new one. I’m not eligible for an upgrade.”
“I’ll buy it for you.”
“What? No!” She dismissed the suggestion with a wave of her hand. “It’s such a waste of money. I have the replacement insurance for this purpose…”
“But who is going to bother me with random texts at work now?” he whined, his words teasing.
She patted his head with a grin, already formulating plans in her head. A dirty text from Andy’s phone number would be a surprise, even if he realized its true sender a moment later.

“I think you’ll manage,” she said vaguely, and with a subtle reminder of what she planned to do to him once they got home, he followed her from the store.
