Chapter 34 Please stay
A little blonde girl tugs on my jeans, and I bend down to pick up the youngest of Alessi's five daughters.
I often wondered where the hell they got the energy for so many kids, but just the way Miguel is looking at me, makes me feel pregnant.
He shouldn't be looking at me like that. What if someone notices?
"Madison." His voice sends thunderstorms through my veins. "Good to see you."
Only I hear the irony in that sentence.
Now I see him.
What does he look like when he enters me? When he cums deep inside me with a groan?
I can feel my cheeks burning and my aunt's ever enquiry gaze.
"Miguel." I clear my throat while hugging the baby against my chest as if she can protect me from him. "What are you doing here?"
He raises a dark blonde brow. "I had a meeting with Alessandro."
He's calling my uncle by his name, as if he's familiar with him. Since when? Is there something I've been missing? First they spoke at the ball last night, now a home meeting?
"Don't be rude with our guest, Madison." Aunt Farrah smiles and makes big eyes at me. "I was just about to invite Miguel for lunch."
What! No! That would be even more awkward than last night.
My uncle steps out of his office and walks over to me. "Baby girl, when did you get here?"
Something flashes in Miguel's eyes. Is that jealousy? Is he honestly jealous of my uncle calling me by my pet name that I've had ever since I was born?
"She just got here." Aunt Farrah puts the girl on her hip down and takes the baby from my arms. "Their parents went out for the day, so thanks for coming over and helping to babysit."
"Sure." I smile tightly.
"My son is making me a grandpa every year." Uncle Alessandro kisses me on the forehead like he always does before slinging his arm over my shoulders. "So what do you say, Miguel, you wanna stay in this chaos and have lunch with us? We have a chef, my wife is not the best of cooks."
I can't help but chuckle at that. It's been a running joke in my family that nobody should eat my aunt's food, when in reality she's not that bad.
"Somebody wants to be in the dog box tonight." Aunt Farrah winks at me.
"I don't want to intrude." Miguel's gaze doesn't leave mine, the innuendo of his words blaringly obvious just to me.
He has, in fact, intruded into my whole life. He killed that guy and turned everything upside down to the point where I don't know what the fuck decision I should make next.
"You're not intruding." My uncle gives me a side hug before taking his arm off from around me. "You're practically family. Speaking of which, will Ben be joining us?"
All eyes turn to me, and I just hope that the burning in my face can't be physically seen.
"No, he's having lunch with his mother I think." I smile and hope my aunt can't see that it's fake. "I'm turning in early today because of my audition tomorrow."
"Of course, lunch will be ready any second now, wanna help change some diapers?" Aunt Farrah nudges her head towards the bedroom and I scoop up a protesting toddler who wants to play with her sisters instead.
I can feel his eyes following me until I disappear around the corner.
"Is something going on between you and Miguel?" My aunt asks as soon as I close the bedroom door behind us.
I put the wiggling girl down on the bed to check her diaper, but she giggles and crawls up to the headboard, wanting to play.
"Why would you say that?" I knew I wouldn't have been able to hide shit from her. The woman is a hawk on a good day, of course she saw something weird.
"Because he looks at you like he wants to eat you for lunch instead." Aunt Farrah lets the youngest of the bunch, Aurora, free on the bed as well to turn accusing eyes at me.
"I haven't even really spoken to Miguel." I lie ceaselessly again, trying to hold her gaze, but failing.
"Listen, you're like my daughter, and I love you as such." She says seriously. "If you need to talk about anything, I'm your girl, okay. Your mother doesn't have to know."
I know I can come to her with anything. But I also know that my mother is her best friend on top of being her sister, so if she feels like there is anything my mother needs to know, she'll tell her.
"I'll keep that in my mind." I grab the toddler, Angelica, who tries to get away from me with a giggle, but I succeed in changing her diaper and getting the hell out of that room before my aunt manages to interrogate me even further.
This day is just full of fucking surprises, because when I get back into the spacious living room, Miguel is sitting on a tiny pink chair having a tea party with the oldest of the bunch, a set of twins who are completely mesmerized by him.
They're giggling like they're a couple of teenagers trying to seduce the bad boy, and he's eating it all up, pretending to eat the plastic cookies and drinking the tea out of the empty cup.
How the fuck did this day even happen?
Also, Ben has never made the effort to play with any of the kids before. And I shouldn't be comparing the two to each other!
What I should do is find out what the fuck Miguel is doing here in the first place, and what business does he have with my uncle?
