Chapter 111 Home
My finger circles the round scars where the bullets went in, wondering if it still hurts and if he would even tell me if it was.
"How did you know where to find me? I didn't tell you where I was doing the shoot." I lift my head to look at this gorgeous man, his blue eyes hooded as he looks at me.
"Can't tell you all my secrets." He smirks. "Then you will find me predictable."
"Not a chance."
I already have an idea how to pull his strings if I want the dominant alpha side of him to come out without thinking of the consequences.
Speaking of, I can still hear my phone going crazy downstairs, probably T.J. wanting to know where the hell I'm at. I'm sure he put two and two together when Armando told him I took off with a guy on a motorcycle.
I prop my head on my hand, looking around the room that only has the large bed in it, with doors that I assume lead to the bathroom and the walk-in closet.
The house is truly beautiful from what I've seen, and clearly renovated to adapt to a more modern style, the walls also painted in a cream colour, the large windows allowing lots of light to come in.
"Have you not hired an interior decorator yet?" I ask curiously. "And when did you buy this house? It's a bit big for only one person."
Miguel inhales sharply, putting his hand underneath his head so the pointes tattoo is on full display, my fingers running over the perfect lines.
"It's not just for one person." He's avoiding my gaze.
"Oh, I thought you said it would be best if your mom stayed on the West Coast."
"It's not my mom I was hoping to move in." Those powerful blue eyes look up at me. "I bought this house for my future. I figured it's a good time to buy it and start getting it ready."
"It certainly is a great investment."
"I didn't buy it for the investment."
"No? It's probably worth ten million dollars."
"Twelve point five." He clarifies, a sheen in his eyes, a vulnerability that completely takes over his face. "I was hoping that one day, not very far, you would move in here with me."
"Oh."
Oh.
This is not just some random apartment that you can rent for six months without any responsibility if something breaks or not.
No, this is a home. The kind that you keep in your family and pass down to the next generations.
He's saying I'm his future.
This is bigger than asking me to visit him at his house on the West Coast.
"There's more than enough space to convert one of the rooms into a studio." He continues when I just gawk at him. "I have a great contractor, if you'd like I can send his email address and you can maybe send him some ideas?"
I don't know what to say.
Yes, Miguel has said that he loves me. That he's been in love with me for years now, and I can't seem to stay away from him, even if only temporary.
But I haven't allowed myself to think too much into the future. Ben still looms like a dark shadow over our lives, making us hide what we are to each other.
He also told my parents he'd be back to ask for my hand in marriage, I just didn't think it would become a reality.
"I can also ramp up the security, although I had a very good system installed, plus cameras surrounding the whole house outside and in some places inside." He smiles irresistibly. "Not the bedroom, though, although our little session in the foyer may have been recorded."
Miguel wants a future with me. A real one. One where we live together.
"You know the only things I can cook are pasta and maybe grilled vegetables, and chicken breasts, right?" His mother is an amazing cook, I wouldn't ever be able to match that.
I'm still looking down at him, next thing he has me turned around and our positions reversed, smiling down at me.
"And did you know I can cook very well?" He bends down and kisses my lips softly. "I don't want you to be my maid, mouse. I just want to share a home with you."
"A home?"
"Yes, a home." He rubs his nose with mine. "A place we come to after work. If you're tired, you can soak in the bath, and I can massage your muscles. A place where we can eat together, share the day's stories. Say yes."
"Yes." There's no hesitation from me.
I want to be with Miguel. I want to bask in his love every single day. I want this future he's describing.
"And maybe, far away in the future." He drops another kiss on my lips. "We could fill the house up even more."
Hope blooms in my chest.
"I would like that very much."
