Chapter 100 Chapter 100

Chapter 100 Chapter 100

"This is not one of the regular wars, Lisa. I can't have you come. You have to stay here for your own safety."
"I understand that you are worried about me, but we can't always have this argument. I am equally worried about you, and I think the suspense and waiting and hoping would kill me first before anything else." I insisted.
"This is too dangerous, Lisa. For once, just don't argue with me."
"We all know what we sign up for when we make certain decisions. I want to come with you. I want to stand by your side through this. This is not just your war, Damien, it's mine now too, remember? I was dragged into this as well." I reminded him.
He cupped my face with his hand and then planted a kiss on my lips. "You're too damn stubborn for your own good."
"You will need a gun." He said, and I nodded. We walked into his private weapons room, and he pulled out a new gun for me. He just never ran out of weapons.
"Test it, because you will need it." He said. I shivered as a chill ran down my spine. I had not needed to use a gun until now. It was always a backup in case anything happened.
This time, it seemed like something was definitely going to happen.

Damien's allies had shown up. I couldn't tell if it was all of them or not, but it definitely seemed like the majority of them had shown up. He gathered them together in the briefing room and laid out a plan of the area Victor had dominated.
"Like we all know, Victor has crossed his boundary. In the underworld, the one thing we respect more than anything is boundaries. We respect territories, and despite what battle we have, we do not cross boundaries except we are calling for war."
"Victor has called for war. By claiming one of my major territories, he has called for a full-blown war, and now, we are all going to take back what is mine and put Victor right where he belongs."
Damien and his men agreed to spread out across the south territory so that Victor and his men would not have any escape routes.
We drove out in numbers, an anonymous tip from one of Damien's men still trapped within the territory revealed where Victor was situated and how they could attack him. Apparently,  a few of Damien's men were still in hiding, waiting for the arrival of backup before they could lay siege on the town.
We arrived at a secret route which led to the southern part of the city.  The towns there were small, and Damien and his allies each chose a town to attack.
Using the secret route, we came to the heart of the town. Victor was celebrating his victory in one of the luxury hotels there. Damien instructed his men to round up the people in that area and have them clear out.
It was the most considerable thing I had witnessed him do, because we all knew what these wars were like; there were always casualties. We moved into the hotel, and staff members and guests were being led out of the hotel as we moved in. I worried about how fast they would be able to clear everyone out.
Approaching the elevator, some of Victor's men stood guard, and just as they wanted to open fire, Damien's men shot them from behind. We abandoned the elevator, knowing that Victor's men would be waiting right on the outside of the next floor.
"Go, take the stairs. You, take the men and move around the back." Damien ordered his men. We and some of the other men, about thirty-five in number, continued up the stairs towards the next floor.
Gunshots rang out as his men took down Victor's men, and soon, the others were alerted. Men streamed in from the other end of the floo,r and bullets started to fly over our heads. Damien pressed me to his side while he shot at our attackers.
"Go! Go, Boss! We'll handle it!" One of his men shouted, and Damien grabbed my hand and pulled me in the opposite direction towards the staircase. Victor's men were not far behind. They followed us from behind, but Damien pushed me in front of him and kept shooting at them.
One of the bullets flew close to my ear,  "Duck!" Damien pressed me down, and we continued to run.
As soon as we approached the next floor, one of Victor's men approached us from the front, and Damien wasn't looking, so I pulled out the gun just as we were almost close enough for him to shoot and aimed the bullet straight for his head.
Blood splattered across my face as the force of the bullet blew his brains out. Damien crashed into me as I planted my feet on the floor and let out a powerful retch.
My hands shook violently, and I dropped the gun to the floor and began wiping at my face. There was blood everywhere. I had shot the first time, but I had not shot to kill. I had taken a man's life. I was breathing laboredly now.
Damien grabbed hold of my hand and pulled me up with him. Victor's men were coming, and a moment was not a luxury I could afford.
"Come on, Lisa, we have to go now. Come on," he grabbed the gun and pushed it back into my hand as we ran towards the next set of steps, shooting ahead and behind. I remained frozen in shock.
We arrived at the top floor, where Victor was, and his men were gathered waiting. Damien's men came through the other side, and another battle broke out. Damien fought and incapacitated those who attacked him, and then he pulled me along with him to the room where Victor was waiting.
He kicked down the door, and there was Victor, standing by the window, with a look of shock on his face.
